Lakefront 4 Seasons & Minutes to North Conway

Bedrooms 3
Space 1,479 sq. ft.
Property type house
Minimum Stay 2 - 7 nights

About the property

3 bed, 2 bath; private yard with private beach on Big Pea Porridge Pond

Our home is an idyllic four-season getaway from which to take in all the Mt. Washington Valley has to offer. We are close to all the skiing, hiking, watersports, etc. in the Conway area. But despite its proximity to the activities in the valley, our home feels tranquil and is very connected to the water of Big Pea Porridge Pond. There are excellent views of the water from just about anywhere in the house or on the property. From the deck there are just a few stairs to the open yard that ends at our private sandy-bottom beach. We enjoy hiking and skiing, but it is also very easy to just stay and relax.

Big Pea Porridge Pond is about 140 acres, and motorboats are not permitted. We are on the north shore which provides southerly views and close access to Conway. The mornings are quite tranquil and you will enjoy the call of the loons as the mist rises from the lake. In the fall, our home is a great place to enjoy the fall colors; we are only 3.5 miles to the Kancamangus. There is year-round fishing, and the lake contains rainbow trout, small mouth bass, yellow perch, and sunfish. Use any of our five watercraft (2 sailboats, kayak, SUP, and canoe). In the winter, the lake provides skating, cross country skiing, and ice fishing.

The first floor is open concept with excellent views through the oversized sliding glass door, which opens to a deck that spans the back of the house. The connected living room provides views through a large picture window, and the woodstove is nice for quiet, cozy winter evenings. The second floor sitting area provides excellent views through a picture window and has access to a second floor deck. Sleeping arrangements are provided by a first floor bedroom with a queen bed; and on the second floor a king bedroom and a bunkroom with two sets of twin bunks. There is also a queen pull-out couch in the upstairs sitting area. If you filled all of these you might sleep 10, but at 1500 sq ft, we feel eight would be more comfortable.

From the back deck or anywhere in the yard you can comfortably watch your family and friends playing on or in the water. Varied features we also hope you will enjoy: a hammock, blueberry bushes, beach toys, floats, puzzles, games, WiFi, fire-ring, gas Weber grill, etc.

About Owner/Property Manager

We live in Portsmouth NH and enjoy traveling up north to the Mount Washington valley. We like to hike, camp, fish, kayak, and cook.

Owner/Property Manager purchased this house in 2013

Why Owner/Property Manager chose Madison

When we came across Big Pea Porridge Pond, we were surprised to find such a quiet and tranquil setting so close to all of the activity of the Valley. You can really set your own pace: work in as much activity as you can or just sit by the pond, fish, sleep, read...

What makes this house unique

As we mentioned earlier, we really feel connected to the pond at the house. The beach is just feet away at the edge of the back yard.

Beautiful and peaceful location...

  • 5 of 5

We decided to spend our after Christmas vacation at this beautiful cabin. Lots of things to do and the cabin is fully equipped with everything you need. Close enough to town to get everything you need, but still feel like you are away from all the traffic. We will be returning this summer to enjoy the lake.

Great family vacation spot!

  • 5 of 5

We had a great week relaxing on Big Pea Porridge Pond. The location can't be beat with all the North Conway outlets and attractions only about 10 minutes away. Even on our two rainy days, we found plenty to do. The house was set up perfectly, and had plenty of room for me, my husband and four kids. We loved kayaking and using the stand up paddle board especially. The beach area was very clean and there were plenty of noodles and floats for everyone to use. The owners were very helpful and responsive to any questions we had throughout the rental process. I would definitely recommend this rental!

Peaceful vacation

  • 5 of 5

We just returned from a 6 day getaway at this rental. What an amazing place to stay. Our plan was to head out a few days of our trip but we ended up staying at the home the entire vacation. If you want relaxation, this is the place to be. The pond is so quiet. Many days and nights were spent on the water fishing and reading in the kayak and canoe. We had a nice fire in the pit a few of the nights while listening to tbe sound of the frogs. This house is well stocked and you know they appreciate the renters. I recommend it to anyone. Just an FYI- follow their directions they send in the email. The GPS will bring you into a dead end in the woods.

Just wonderful!

  • 5 of 5

Our family spent a few days in the lakehouse and we sure wished we could have stayed longer. We traveled more than 3 weeks and experienced several places and this was really the best! The house was very comfortable, very clean and looked even better than the pictures and Monica was so friendly and helpful.

We just relaxed, enjoyed swimming and boating and the privacy of the place.

We would love to come back some day and would recommend it highly.

perfect for our family gathering

  • 5 of 5

The house was conveniently located near so many things we wanted to do in North Conway and the White Mountains, but we were so pleasantly surprised by how we did not want to leave and go out! The lake was great for swimming, kayaking, and canoeing. The kids loved trying the paddleboard. We loved the fact that there were no motorboats; just the sound of the loons and frogs. The setting was lovely. The accommodations in the house exceeded our expectations. It was spacious and comfortable for the 7 of us. We cooked out on the grill and enjoyed the outdoor firepit. We hope to return soon!

Cozy, Comfortable, AMAZING VIEWS, lovely lake.

  • 5 of 5

If you are looking for a place to swim, relax, cook, sunbath, spend time with family, and do all of that in comfort then this is the place. The home is well equipped with cooking supplies, it is clean, cozy, and the owners couldn't be nicer. Also very nicely decorated. They have a lovely beach, a fire pit, a hammock, and the view is amazing. Love, love, love staying in this house every summer, and I am sure that it would be a wonderful place to stay in the winter as well. Cozy log burning stove in the living room and close proximity to the slops makes this house great for all seasons.
