About the property

Condo, 2 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 2 Baths, (Sleeps 4-6)

Welcome to my beautiful 2 bedroom, 2 bath, condominium located in a serene setting overlooking the eighth and tenth fairways of the beautiful Wailea Blue Golf Course. This is a highly desirable top floor two bedroom golf course unit located at the quiet end of Grand Champions. The spacious living room, master bedroom and lanai overlook the golf course, and the front bedroom and entryway offer a partial ocean view. There is a king size bed in the master bedroom, two twin beds in the front bedroom, and a sofa sleeper in the living room. It is beautifully furnished and features all the conveniences of home. You can enjoy your morning coffee on the lanai watching the sunrise over Haleakala Crater, and in the evening, you can enjoy watching the sunset off the entryway and front bedroom. Being located on the top floor allows you complete privacy and a very quiet location. The location of my condominium allows a nice afternoon breeze that naturally cools the unit.

Grand Champions Golf and Tennis Villas is an elegant, first class development in the midst of Wailea. Grand Champions is surrounded on one side by the Wailea's 'Blue' Golf Course and on the other by the Wailea Tennis Club, both offer discounted rates for condo guests. And less than 5 miles away are the other Wailea golf courses ('Gold' and 'Emerald').

Beautifully landscaped with native tropical foliage, Grand Champions has two swimming pools, each with jacuzzi spa, changing rooms, restrooms, showers, and two large gas BBQs. Grand Champions offers a quiet, safe resort setting, including a security entrance. You will have your own reserved parking space near the entrance to the condo.

Within a beautiful 5 minute drive (or 10-15 minute walk) you can be at: 1) The Shops of Wailea, which offers the finest shopping on the island, from handmade Hawaiian treasures to boutiques (such as Louis Vitton, Tiffany & Co., Tommy Bahama, Coach, Gucci, and many more), numerous art galleries, and four delightful restaurants (including Ruth Chris Steakhouse, Longhi's, Tommy Bahama Cafe and Cheeseburger Island Style), or 2) Ulua Beach and Mokapu Beach, ranked eighth in the nation and a world class snorkeling and swimming destination which connects to a spectacular 2 mile paved beach walk through all of the finest Wailea hotels. Polo Beach and Wailea Beach are a short drive from my condo. And less than 5 miles away are the beaches at Makena, including Big Beach, arguably the most beautiful beach in the state.

You can be assured that the Grand Champions Golf and Tennis Villas will meet all your expectations of an unforgettable Hawaiian vacation. And you will find my beautiful and comfortable condominium to be your 'home-away-from-home' while staying in Maui!

Come enjoy yourself in paradise!

About Denis Gleason

My name is Denis and I have owned my condo at the Grand Champions since August 2004. I currently live in Marin County, California and am a CPA, having recently worked in private industry as a CFO for several years. I own other properties on Maui and plan to move there in the next few years.

Denis Gleason purchased this condo in 2004

Why Denis Gleason chose Wailea

I first vacationed in the islands as a teenager in 1973 with my family. My first trip to Maui was in 1990 and I totally fell in love with it. Having been raised in Southern California, I love the ocean and spending time on the beautiful beaches. Until I bought my condo, I had been coming to Maui only every few years to recharge my batteries on its beautiful beaches. In 2003, I got the bug to buy a vacation property there and found my unit the next summer. And now I get to go there for extended stays several times a year!

What makes this condo unique

The South Maui area is the most beautiful of all of Maui. The beaches are the best! Wailea is a step above the local scene of Kihei. And while I love and have vacationed many times in Kihei, I have really enjoyed the quieter setting of Wailea, and in particular the Grand Champions Villas. And it is only a 10 minute drive to Big Beach, the best beach in all of Hawaii!!

Wailea Golf Course Condo!
average rating of 4.76 based on 36 reviews

Great condo location and security appreciated. Best stocked condo for kitchen and bath items.

  • 4 of 5

Comfortable beds though wakened many times by middle of the night lights shining through curtian from greenskeepers. Mowers not as disruptive in later morning.

Pools adequate and clean. Appreciated assigned parking space. Location perfect for tennis club. Quiet and well mantained condo.

Exactly as advertised!

  • 5 of 5

The owner's description of this property is true and correct.

Denis answered all of our questions promptly and returned our damage deposit in a timely manner. We would stay here again without hesitation.

Our favourite part of staying here was having our morning coffee on the lanai overlooking the golf course, enjoying the outstanding views, while being serenaded by the birds. It's a little piece/peace of paradise.

Great Place!

  • 5 of 5

We loved this condo. It had everything we needed for the beach including boogie boards (we didn't see them at first so bought more so now there are lots), chairs, coolers, and towels. The condo had plenty of space for the 5 of us and was well appointed and clean. Denis was great to work with and the location is perfect to get to our favorite beach to snorkel and play. It was so quiet we hardly felt like there were people staying around us. The only noise was at 5am when they mowed the golf course right by us (yes that got old but it was fairly quick). Would definitely stay here again.

Just what we needed

  • 5 of 5

Very nice condo, well kept. Calm and relaxed atmosphere yet close to everything we wanted (restaurants, golf, shopping, beaches...). Different feel from the action of Kihei or Lahaina yet sufficiently central to explore the island. Will return

Good, spacious, fully stocked condo with its quirks

  • 3 of 5

I came with my 2 kids both under 10 and parents - 6 ppl overall. The check-in instructions were clear and the process was flawless.

The place was clean and ready. The kitchen had everything we needed. Towels and bedding, all there. Internet, TV, all that's listed. Even some beer in the fridge - very nice! We also found beach gear like chairs, boogie boards, and snorkeling stuff - also very cool!

Things to keep in mind:

1. The most fun killing thing was the doors between rooms. The layout is such that the bedrooms are in opposite corners of a bigger common room. So kids were in one BR, parents in another, and we are in the common place on a reclining sofa. Unfortunately, doors serve more or less like blinds. No more, not less. They virtually separate rooms but don't stop ANY sound and just some light. So since kids go to bed early, 4 of us had a hard time doing anything. I am not even saying "2 of us".

2. AC works fine - every room has its own unit. However, it's superloud.

3. It was great to have big fans, but they are loud too, even on the lowest speed. So what helped was the ceiling fans - those are great and quiet.

Anyways, everyone is different. Although the place is somewhat away from the ocean, it's still pretty close to it; not walkable but close. A convenience store also very close. However, if you are with kids, 3+ age and plan to do something in the evening when they are in bed already, I would consider other places. Talk to the owner though - they may replace doors at some point.

Owner's Response: The guest is referring to the bedroom doors which are louvered wood doors commonly used on the islands. As I explained to him prior to writing his review, the contractor installed louvered wood doors in all Grand Champions units to allow air flow between the rooms so the air conditioners would operate more efficiently. Also to allow better circulation when the condo is closed up. I do agree with his remarks that it is less than ideal when there are guests trying to sleep in one or both bedrooms with other guests socializing in the living room. But a prospective guest reading his review should keep in mind this is not an issue exclusive to my condo. While I have beds that sleep 6 guests in my condo, I many times encourage prospective guests to find bigger accommodations when they try to fit so many people in such a small space. And I am not sure solid wood doors would mitigate all the noise transfer from guests socializing or watching TV in the living room. Lastly, I will add that in 13 years of owning this condo, I have never had a guest complain about the bedroom doors. Let alone complain how loud the air conditioners and additional fans are (all of which are recent models). With all the positive comments this guest had about my condo, it is disappointing that he only gave my condo 3 stars especially since he had discussed the doors with me before writing his review. I encourage prospective guests to read all the other reviews that other guests have written, as well as, all the reviews that I have transcribed from my guest book located in the condo.

#100 Grand Champs

  • 4 of 5

Four of us enjoyed our two weeks at #100, esp. the lanai which offered shaded sun for

breakfast and lunch. And the stairway deck was large enough for us to bring chairs out

and enjoy ocean sunsets.

The interior space of bedrooms and living room/kitchen were well arranged and

pleasantly decorated.

Our one complaint would be the two, too-small children's beds in the front bedroom -

perhaps fine for children, but not the best for adults.
