About the property

Long Range Mountain Views, 3 Bedrooms-3 Baths (Sleeps 8)

Why come to the mountains and not experience a home on a mountain with exquisite long range views from every window. Beautiful sunsets every night give our renters a breathtaking experience from a 3100 ft. elevation. Nestled halfway up a mountain between Hendersonville, Asheville and Lake Lure; this luxurious mountain retreat is conveniently located only 20 minutes from their downtown areas. This home is a convenient home base for the multitude of activities our area has to offer: Visit the Biltmore Estate (13 miles), Downtown Asheville (15 miles), Historic Hendersonville (14 miles), go tubing or kayaking on the French Broad River, zip lining, drive the Blue Ridge Parkway, hike a different trail every day or see five magnificent waterfalls in just one afternoon. There are wine tastings (8 miles) beer tours (10 miles), music and dance venues and fabulous restaurants to sample. Biking is a favorite sport here on the road or on mountain trails. We are more than happy to help you with planning your vacation; so please let us know your interests.

From the moment you walk into this incredible escape; you will appreciate the elegantly appointed features; including vaulted ceilings, hardwood/slate flooring, rare riverbed granite countertops and locally crafted mountain laurel railings throughout the main level. The furniture is designer quality; rich leather swivel chairs (custom made) large enough for 2 people. A sofa to sink into with features you won't find in a typical vacation home. The rest of the furniture is award winning from some of the finest manufacturers in the world. The open floor plan is designed to gather friends and family around the floor-to-ceiling stone fireplace for good conversation and connection while enjoying the 6 foot tall window views of the mountain ranges all around. The TV viewing room is behind closed (or open) doors and boasts a Bose system, 48' Samsung TV, wireless internet and comfy, oversized chairs and ottomans for relaxing with the remote. Also available in this large room is a desk and credenza. Start your day with breakfast in the tree house dining area, perched high up in the woods and adjacent to the custom kitchen. Views all around the room along with a beaded wood ceiling give a feeling of being in the forest, in addition to the door leading to the expansive outside deck. The main level deck is perfect for watching the magnificent sunsets. You will feel as if you can reach out and touch the sun as it is setting directly in front of you. With a gas line into the grill and lots of seating on the deck; enjoy dinner and conversation with your loved ones.

The main level is home to the master suite; an oversized custom made king bedroom define the luxury part of the home. Bathe in the jetted bathtub or shower in the cave while viewing the foliage outdoors.

Take a trip down stairs to the lower level and you will be met with high ceilings and a feeling of warmth and coziness. The expansive lower deck is off the family room through two sets of French doors at either side of the fireplace. This gathering room is furnished in casual, comfortable sofas and perfect for watching your favorite programs on TV or DVD.

A quiet, comfy bed room fit for a queen is strategically located to the right of the family room. Wake up to beautiful mountain views and enjoy the pillow top queen bed that is so cozy you won't want to leave it or enjoy reading across the room on a sleek and comfortable armless chair.

The bathroom hosts a beautiful uniquely designed garden tub and an exceptionally large shower. Plus, all toilets in this home are privately enclosed. Take advantage of the large bathtub that's big enough for several kids or a romantic couple.

The perfect place for couples with or without children is found in the spacious third bedroom; i.e. bunk house! A pack n play and 2 highchairs are also on site.

About Sandi Donaldson

Welcome to my listing! I am a former corporate executive who has spent more than enough years on the road traveling for a living. I always knew that I would realize my dream of living in the mountains someday. As a grandmother to 5, I wanted to be closer to my family and they all live within a few hours away. I actually built this custom home to my exact specifications and it became a relaxing retreat for my family and friends. I am now downsizing my living arrangements and want to offer this retreat for others to enjoy!

Sandi Donaldson purchased this house in 2006

Why Sandi Donaldson chose Fletcher

After spending a year in the area and searching for the best location to 'lay down roots'; I found this property and immediately felt a sense of the history of this acreage and upon further research, I found that many of the farms in the area housed the women and children left behind during the Civil War. A lot of the residents in Hoopers Creek are descendants of families who lived through the war. One local college professor and neighbor has written a book that includes information about the acreage surround the property. This is the story of his family lineage and many of the grave stones in the nearby cemetery bear his family name. You can 'feel' the history of this area as you explore the surrounding caves knowing that they were used as hiding places during the Civil War.

What makes this house unique

This home is located on 3 acres of wooded land within 8 privately owned acreage. With few neighbors; the feeling of peace and harmony resonate all around the inside and outside areas. Sitting on the deck(s) with a glass of wine or a cup of coffee is heavenly!

Guestbook comments from the owner

Sandi, thank you for letting us use your home over the 4th of July weekend. It was exactly what we were looking for, convenient to all the activities we were wanting to do. It's a lovely home and we were glad to be able to secure it. We have so enjoyed staying here!

The house is in great condition and very well stocked. As advertised, it is about 30 miles from Asheville and close to a number of hikes in the area. I would definitely go back

Great weekend!

  • 5 of 5

Sandi sorry for taking so long to submit my review. We had a great time and your house is beautiful. It accommodated nine women comfortably. Our only complaint was the lighting, especially in the kitchen. Other than that we really enjoyed our stay! Thanks for being so responsive.

Owner's Response: Thanks for your kind words Ann and for all the wonderful comments in the guest book! You and your friends were excellent renters! You mentioned the lighting; all of the lights are on dimmers and the switch is on the wall for high and low lights. I will add this to the helpful hints list that I leave for guests and I appreciate you reminding me to do so! Come back any time, you are always welcome!

Holiday Vacation

  • 5 of 5

What a great vacation we had with our 4 boys. Skiing, hiking and exploring as well as the beautiful home were key to the great week. Not only is the view spectacular, but the home, furnishing and overall space made for a great relaxing time. Almost too relaxing once you are in the most comfortable bed I have ever slept in. The location is great to get to Asheville as well as both Wolf Laurel and Cataloochi ski resorts. We will be back!!!!!!!!!! Thanks Sandi. You were wonderful to work with and very helpful.
