Long Range Mountain Views, 3 Bedrooms-3 Baths (Sleeps 10)

Why come to the mountains and not experience a home on a mountain with exquisite long range views from every window. Beautiful sunsets every night give our renters a breathtaking experience from a 3100 ft. elevation. Nestled halfway up a mountain between Hendersonville, Asheville and Lake Lure; this luxurious mountain retreat is conveniently located only 20 minutes from their downtown areas. This home is a convenient home base for the multitude of activities our area has to offer: Visit the Biltmore Estate (13 miles), Downtown Asheville (15 miles), Historic Hendersonville (14 miles), go tubing or kayaking on the French Broad River, zip lining, drive the Blue Ridge Parkway, hike a different trail every day or see five magnificent waterfalls in just one afternoon. There are wine tastings (8 miles) beer tours (10 miles), music and dance venues and fabulous restaurants to sample. Biking is a favorite sport here on the road or on mountain trails. We are more than happy to help you with planning your vacation; so please let us know your interests.

From the moment you walk into this incredible escape; you will appreciate the elegantly appointed features; including vaulted ceilings, hardwood/slate flooring, rare riverbed granite countertops and locally crafted mountain laurel railings throughout the main level. The furniture is designer quality; rich leather swivel chairs (custom made) large enough for 2 people. A sofa to sink into with features you won't find in a typical vacation home. The rest of the furniture is award winning from some of the finest manufacturers in the world. The open floor plan is designed to gather friends and family around the floor-to-ceiling stone fireplace for good conversation and connection while enjoying the 6 foot tall window views of the mountain ranges all around. The TV viewing room is behind closed (or open) doors and boasts a Bose system, 48' Samsung TV, wireless internet and comfy, oversized chairs and ottomans for relaxing with the remote. Also available in this large room is a desk and credenza. Start your day with breakfast in the tree house dining area, perched high up in the woods and adjacent to the custom kitchen. Views all around the room along with a beaded wood ceiling give a feeling of being in the forest, in addition to the door leading to the expansive outside deck. The main level deck is perfect for watching the magnificent sunsets. You will feel as if you can reach out and touch the sun as it is setting directly in front of you. With a gas line into the grill and lots of seating on the deck; enjoy dinner and conversation with your loved ones.

The main level is home to the master suite; an oversized custom made king bedroom define the luxury part of the home. Bathe in the jetted bathtub or shower in the cave while viewing the foliage outdoors.

Take a trip down stairs to the lower level and you will be met with high ceilings and a feeling of warmth and coziness. The expansive lower deck is off the family room through two sets of French doors at either side of the fireplace. This gathering room is furnished in casual, comfortable sofas and perfect for watching your favorite programs on TV or DVD.

A quiet, comfy bed room fit for a queen is strategically located to the right of the family room. Wake up to beautiful mountain views and enjoy the pillow top queen bed that is so cozy you won't want to leave it or enjoy reading across the room on a sleek and comfortable armless chair.

The bathroom hosts a beautiful uniquely designed garden tub and an exceptionally large shower. Plus, all toilets in this home are privately enclosed. Take advantage of the large bathtub that's big enough for several kids or a romantic couple.

The perfect place for couples with or without children is found in the spacious third bedroom; i.e. bunk house! This room is so large that it comfortably sleeps 7 and is set up for living with alot of space to spread out. There are 2 sets of bunk beds (lower bunks are full size) and a canopied day bed. A pack n play and 2 highchairs are also on site.

This home is guaranteed to give families and friends a vacation full of memories they will never forget!

About Sandi Donaldson

Welcome to my listing! I am a former corporate executive who has spent more than enough years on the road traveling for a living. I always knew that I would realize my dream of living in the mountains someday. As a grandmother to 5, I wanted to be closer to my family and they all live within a few hours away. I actually built this custom home to my exact specifications and it became a relaxing retreat for my family and friends. I am now downsizing my living arrangements and want to offer this retreat for others to enjoy!

Sandi Donaldson purchased this house in 2006

Why Sandi Donaldson chose Smoky Mountains

After spending a year in the area and searching for the best location to 'lay down roots'; I found this property and immediately felt a sense of the history of this acreage and upon further research, I found that many of the farms in the area housed the women and children left behind during the Civil War. A lot of the residents in Hoopers Creek are descendants of families who lived through the war. One local college professor and neighbor has written a book that includes information about the acreage surround the property. This is the story of his family lineage and many of the grave stones in the nearby cemetery bear his family name. You can 'feel' the history of this area as you explore the surrounding caves knowing that they were used as hiding places during the Civil War.

What makes this house unique

This home is located on 3 acres of wooded land within 8 privately owned acreage. With few neighbors; the feeling of peace and harmony resonate all around the inside and outside areas. Sitting on the deck(s) with a glass of wine or a cup of coffee is heavenly!

Beautiful house with a relaxing vibe!

  • 5 of 5

Mountain Majesty was the perfect house for the NYE weekend! Plenty of space, elegantly decorated, and cozy, we spent our time relaxing, cooking in the well appointed kitchen, and playing cards by the fireplace. Also great with the kids as the downstairs area has a separate TV room and toys :) We will be returning!

Beautiful and convenient

  • 5 of 5

We just returned from our vacation and our stay was excellent. The home is in great condition and comes fully stocked. We have three young children (under 6yrs old) and the house came with toys, booster chair and pack & play. This saved us having to lug all of these items with us. Views are very nice! Everything in the home is of high quality from the furniture to the towels. Great place.

Perfect Getaway

  • 4 of 5

This house was ideal for our friends getaway. Plenty of room and the house was well stocked with linens, toiletries, spices, paper products, etc. Also, close to downtown Asheville, hiking trails and the Biltmore. Will definitely recommend to others. Thanks!!

Mountain majesty - Exquisitely decorated home, very tough driveway, is not non-smoking

  • 3 of 5

The house, it's amenities and furnishings are first rate. Possibly the best combination we have ever rented. The kitchen is more than fully stocked. TV's where you want them, internet is solid, and gas fireplaces up and down. The grill on the upper deck is clean, fires up immediately and stays hot. The house is well maintained and clean. It is remote, more by time than miles. The access road is deeply rutted and washed out in many places; I would not use my personal car, ever.

We are sensitive to cigarette smoke, so were disappointed in that regard. Main floor worse than lower level. Candles and air cleaners only go so far. Speaking of lower level - high ceilings below (18 steps). Massive bunk room below for all manner of overflow. But not for smoke (a big deal for us) and access road, you are looking at 5 stars.

Owner's Response: Paul, thank you so much for your review! I so appreciate getting opinions of my property from my renters! I especially liked the lovely note from your wife. I will cherish that forever, it was very meaningful. To address your other comments; I know that I informed you of the re-paving of the neighborhood access road up to my driveway. This is a private mountain road and we are in the process of preparing it for paving after the drains are installed. I have had over 20 renters in the last 4 months and not one has said a word about the road. Not one. So I am thinking that you are not used to the roads here in the Western Carolina mountains. Also, to state that my home is not a non-smoking house is not true. It is a most certainly a non-smoking home. Smoking is only allowed outside on the decks and backyard patio. I am not sure why you would have stated that other than to think maybe the renters before you opened the windows on to the deck and smoke came into the house from outside.. I am at a loss here. I have checked with my cleaning crew and they have assured me that no one has ever smoked in the house. Although disappointing to hear both of these comments; I was very glad you came to Mountain Majesty and very happy that your wife loved it as much as she said in her note.

Amazing Mountain Retreat for Fun Wknd in Asheville

  • 5 of 5

We had a fantastic stay at this mountain home. There are so many great things to say about the home! First, this was a good location located halfway between Asheville and Hendersonville, which made it convenient for us to pop into both towns.

The house itself is very spacious, with plenty of room for all 7 of us. The house looks out over a nice forest area, and feels very secluded from the other homes in the area. The deck is fantastic, with plenty of room to sit and hang out. The den area was great for us to watch the playoff basketball games, and is very cozy.

The home is stoked with EVERYTHING you could ever need to cook meals. We definitely took advantage of this and cooked almost every night. It also had plenty of toiletries and small things you may have forgotten at home.

The only complaint I can think of is that the home is very dark inside at night--when we ate together in the dining area, we had to pull lamps from other rooms just to be able to see each other. Other than that minor issue, this home is awesome, and I highly recommend it.

Owner's Response: Thanks so much for that great review Ted! I did laugh about the lighting comment though; because all of the switches are on dimmers and only needed to be increased to brighten the lights. There are lamps in every room so I'm glad you were able to move them around! I think I'll have to put this into my 'helpful' hints. Please come back any time, it was great having you all.
