About this property
"Cedar"- Mackinaw City cottage. Walking distance to town!
Updates for 2026 include a new 50” smart tv, improved WiFi and new flooring. This 2 bedroom, 1 bath cottage is one of 3 on this large wooded property. It is decorated with a cabin themed color and decor. This cottage has one bedroom with a queen bed, the other has a full size bed. The full kitchen is well equipped to cook all your meals. In the living room is tv/cable, books, games, and internet. The bathroom is small with a small shower (no tub). In 2021 a screened front porch was added with a dining space and a lounging area. Outdoor is a flagstone patio with a firepit for those evening marshmallows and s'mores. And there is room in the yard for kids to play while you relax in the hammock. All of this just a few blocks from town and the Straights. You can walk to the waterfront, restaurants, shopping, ferries to the Mackinac Island, and live music. Short trips by car are to Petoskey, Wilderness State Park, Tunnel of Trees, and the UP (Oswald's Bear Ranch, Whitefish Point, Tahquemenon Falls, Sault Ste. Marie). Also, just minutes away is the Headlands with its Dark Sky Park- a great place to watch meteor showers. Families with young children or teens, couples, and business travelers would all enjoy a stay here. If this is booked for the dates you’d like or if you are interested in waterfront a few miles from town, please checkout “Pointe West “on HomeAway. The address is Carp Lake, but the cottage is on Lake Michigan between Mackinaw City and Wilderness State Park.

Thank you Emily- we have loved our location too. It’s been a lot of fun for our family. Thanks for the review!
Very cute and cozy cabin. Perfect for our little getaway. Far enough away from the busy downtown areas that it's peaceful, yet close enough to walk or bike anywhere in town. We'll definitely be back.

We’re so glad you enjoyed your stay! We’d love to host you again. Thanks for the review!
We loved the Cedar cabin! Very quaint and comfortable. The cabin was exactly as advertised. Great location! Quiet neighborhood a short distance from downtown. Todd is a great host! He was very quick to respond to every message sent. We were delayed in arriving due to a power outage at home. Todd immediately refunded us for the 2 nights we missed. Nice guy! Can’t wait to come back next year.
We had a wonderful stay at this quaint little cabin! Fantastic location with easy access to town, extremely clean, and easy to communicate with the hosts!

We explored the Upper Peninsula. The northern coast and the southern cost. We went to restaurants and shops in Mackinaw City. The cottage was perfect. Had everything we needed. Inside and out of cottage was kept up perfectly. Host are easy to contact and respond back to you quickly. Thank you for a great stay.
On the smaller side , well located would stay here again . It is a bit small for 4 adults . The screened in porch is a nice touch.

We’re glad you enjoyed your stay. And yes, it works for 4 adults, but is probably better for 3 adults or a family with children. But wee glad you enjoyed the porch- it’s been our favorite as well.

Thank you Danielle- we’d love to host your whole family! We have large groups rent all 3 once or twice a year. Book early! We’re so glad you enjoyed your time here!
My wife and I stayed in this cottage for a little trip to Mackinac after our wedding. We loved it! It's a short walking distance to town and the ferry. If you stay here, be prepared for no central air, but they do have a mechanism to allow you to controll the climate inside on particularly hot or humid days.

Thank you for the kind review Jack. But you are mistaken regarding the "mechanism". It is a mini split heat and air conditioning unit. So it does have air conditioning.
it was a beautiful cottage. very comfortable. everything we needed for our stay. neighborhood was quiet and adding the screened porch, made your cottage one of my favorite places to enjoy the morning and evening..

Thank you Sandra. We’re glad you enjoyed your stay. We also love the porch.
A cute cottage and very central home base for traveling around Mackinaw City and the UP! Well-stocked with cooking appliances + utensils, and a great HVAC system during a hot summer week.
We live 4 hours away downstate and bought this property in 2011 with the goal of renovating all 3 cottages on the property so that we could spend time with our 3 kids and their future spouses/families. Over a period of 22 months we made frequent trips up north to work on our "family retreat center", especially Todd who did the bulk of the work. Its was a fun project to do, and now we enjoy our time there with family when we can. Mackinaw is a where we vacationed each summer when our children were small, so it brings back wonderful memories each time we stay here.
Why they chose this property
We love Mackinaw and the whole area. Its such a fun place to stay and its a great location to be able to visit other favorite place in the northern lower peninsula and the UP. This place keeps us off the beaten path just enough to have peace and quiet, but is a quick walk to town also.
