This 2 bedroom, 1 bath cottage is one of 3 on this large wooded property. It was totally renovated in 2012 with cabin themed color and decor. This cottage has one bedroom with a queen bed, the other has a full size bed (NOTE: had been twin bunk beds until 2018). The full kitchen is well equipped to cook all your meals. In the living room is tv/cable, books, games, and internet. The bathroom includes a shower (no tub). Outdoors is a flagstone patio with table and chairs and grill with a firepit close by for those evening marshmallows and s'mores. And there is room in the yard for kids to play while you relax in the hammock. All of this just a few blocks from town and the Straights. You can walk to the waterfront, restaurants, shopping, ferries to the Mackinac Island, and live music. Short trips by car are to Petoskey, Wilderness State Park, Tunnel of Trees, and the UP (Oswald's Bear Ranch, Whitefish Point, Tahquemenon Falls, Sault Ste. Marie). Also, just minutes away is the Headlands with its Dark Sky Park- a great place to watch meteor showers. Families with young children or teens, couples, and business travelers would all enjoy a stay here.

About Todd and Jacki VanHuis
We live 4 hours away downstate and bought this property in 2011 with the goal of renovating all 3 cottages on the property so that we could spend time with our 3 kids and their future spouses/families. Over a period of 22 months we made frequent trips up north to work on our "family retreat center", especially Todd who did the bulk of the work. Its was a fun project to do, and now we enjoy our time there with family when we can. Mackinaw is a where we vacationed each summer when our children were small, so it brings back wonderful memories each time we stay here.

Why Todd and Jacki VanHuis chose Mackinaw City
We love Mackinaw and the whole area. Its such a fun place to stay and its a great location to be able to visit other favorite place in the northern lower peninsula and the UP. This place keeps us off the beaten path just enough to have peace and quiet, but is a quick walk to town also.

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at the Cedar Cottage.
The Cedar cottage was cute and cozy. It had everything I needed for my five day stay. I hope to stay there again.
Good for small girlfriend trip
It was nice, quaint cabin. Very small but laid out efficiently. Good location.
Beautifully restored cottage. Loved the location .We were able to walk everywhere even to the ferry
Beautifully restored cottage. Loved the location .We were able to walk everywhere even to the ferry to go to Mackinac island.
Quiet cabin close to Mackinaw City
Upon arriving we were greeted by the owners Todd and Jackie, very friendly and hospitable. We were traveling with another couple so we decided to give them the larger bed (queen) , we took the full size. The mattress seemed to sink toward the middle and being a full made for a cozy night. Our friends said the Queen bed was great.
The bathroom is situated between the second bedroom and the kitchen, the 2 bedrooms adjoin, not the best set up for 2 couples. There were only 3 coffee mugs so that resulted in some sharing of morning coffee. The cabin was clean and cute. Felt it was a bit over priced for what it was. All in all the best part was the location. Close to town and to beaches, and Fort Michilamackinac.
Wonderful restful stay
Beautiful grounds and cozy cabin. Very well equipped.
Cute cottage, great location, worked great for our wedding weekend in Mackinaw!
Very cute. Had all the amenities that we needed and was close by to downtown Mackinaw.
Numerous restaurants and bars, fudge and ice cream shops, souvenir shops, live music, marinas, ferries to Mackinac Island, waterfront parks, Fort Michilimackinac, movie theater, and area tourist attractions reflecting Mackinaw history.
