Overview

About the property

2 bedrooms, 3/4 bath, Sweet log cabin that sleeps 6

The Aspen House Cabin is in a beautiful and quiet rural neighborhood surrounded by National Forest, but only minutes from the entrance to Yellowstone Park and the town of West Yellowstone. It has amazing views of the nearby mountains, and is in an area that is regularly frequented by Yellowstone wildlife.

This is a smaller log cabin with one main floor bedroom and a loft master bedroom. The cabin is surrounded by a beautiful forest of mature aspen and fir trees. It is well equipped, with a very cozy and comfortable feel. It includes all of the comforts of home, including a full kitchen, large screen TV, wireless internet, a barbeque grill, and a large yard.

The cabin is furnished with really nice Keetsa eco-friendly king-sized matresses in both bedrooms. It is also well appointed for fishing folk, with wader hooks and a rod rack for fishing rods just inside the entry door.

The cabin offers spectacular mountain views with easy access to Hebgen Lake and the mountains of Gallatin National Forest. It is accessible by driving on a paved highway from the town of West Yellowstone and then taking a short 1/2 mile drive down a graded, maintained dirt road. It sits in a secluded area at the base of the mountains forming the Continental Divide, only 7.5 miles outside the town of West Yellowstone and the western entrance of Yellowstone National Park.

It is located in a small, quiet subdivision that is surrounded by Forest Service land. The Madison Arm of Hebgen lake, with a boat ramp, beaches, and swimming, is less than 4 miles away. All of the Park's animals also live and travel through the area, so it is not uncommon (depending on time of year) to see elk, moose, bear, fox, wolves, eagles and many other animals nearby. Hiking trails and groomed Forest Service snowmobile trails are accessible from the boundary of the subdivision, and snowmobiles can be ridden from the home in the winter. Cross country and backcountry skiing opportunities are also available right outside the door.

It is in a great location for staging any Yellowstone adventure, whether exploring the Park or the surrounding forests and lakes while skiing, hiking, snowmobiling, fishing, hunting, biking, boating... Almost any kind of outdoor adventure, you'll find it here. There's plenty to do in West Yellowstone too, for those not as outdoor inclined. You’ll love it!

Wonderful place!!

  • 5 of 5

What a wonderful place in the winter for snowmobiling, the trail is right behind the house. The house itself was perfect for me and a buddy, it might be small for others. With that being said it's a cabin with all the amenities and location. We loved it. Thanks!

Christmas at Aspen House

  • 5 of 5

Aspen House was a cozy and comfortable home-away-from-home for the holidays - we had a wonderful time! Skiing out the back door, a groomed trail not far away, was probably the high point. The kitchen was reasonably well equipped, and a space heater helped augment the primary heater to keep the back of the house warm. We were glad that the road to the house was plowed before we came and once while we were there, and the property management team was very responsive to a couple of small things that came up. All in all, Aspen House was a wonderful place to enjoy winter days and nights. Perhaps, someday, there will be a little fireplace to round out the experience...

Quiet, quaint, and cozy.

  • 4 of 5

We enjoyed our stay at the Aspen house very much. It did have some issues, but it was still an enjoyable time. We went into Yellowstone everyday we were in there and it took us a good hour and a half to get there. On weekends it was more like 2 hours plus. If you plan on visiting Yellowstone often, I recommend you stay in the park. The travel time is too much. There were some cards there thanking us for choosing the Aspen house and also asked we write down what they could improve on. We told them that the washer and dryer were not working well. The washer left everything soaked and the dryer didn't dry well. Also, another improvement would be to either put a small heater in the downstairs bedroom or upgrade the heater in the living room, or at least leave some simple instructions on how to program it. It wasn't easy for us to figure out. There were other minor things but mostly, it was quite pleasant. We never saw any animals there, but that was okay. The trees were lovely. Overall it was a very nice stay. The place was clean, and adequate.

Owner's Response: Thanks for the review, and so glad that you enjoyed your stay! Just so others know, Yellowstone can be very busy in the summer months, but the reality is that the Aspen House is a very predictable 15-20 minutes/8 miles/13k drive to the town of West Yellowstone and the entrance to Yellowstone National Park. It's AFTER you enter the Park that things can get slow with the traffic, so maybe the reviewer is talking about times to get to Old Faithful? Regardless of whether you stay inside the Park or outside in a gateway town, during the busiest months it can be slow going to get anywhere once you're inside the Park. The best solution if this is bothersome is to visit during the shoulder seasons when the traffic is very mild and the animals very active. We've checked out the washer and dryer, which are new Samsung front load units, and can't find anything wrong, nor have we heard complaints from other renters. Possibly they had been overloaded? Thanks for the comment about the heater, we will include a set of instructions on its operation in the guest book. Please see the other great reviews for the awesome Aspen House below! Thanks for looking and booking!
