Beautiful and peaceful location!
We really enjoyed our stay here. The cottage is perfect for a relaxing getaway. We spent a lot of time just enjoying the view and weather from the dock. Our dog loved the lake as well!
We were off the beaten path, but still close enough to major areas such as Freeport and Portland. The price is reasonable and the owner was very responsive and accommodating.
Fun n relaxing time
We enjoyed a wonderful relaxing vacation... house was well stocked and the fire pit, kayaks and chairs by the lake were a great addition. Travel to Portland for dinner was very easy. Even though my brother-in-law ((who is 6'11") struggled with stairs to the upstairs bedroom n the smaller shower stall... he would go back!
thank goodness for the beautiful view that made up for the house
House was nice on outside, but inside was old, dark and dingy. Definitely needs to be a bit updated or something. The 10 minute put together of the shower was interesting and very small, but clean. The hot tub was awesome, and in a great location of the house under the trees. It was a good thing we didn't buy much food to cook, there wasn't much of utensils to use, and the toaster did not work. Went to use the canoe and a seat was broken, so could'nt use it, did take the paddle boat out, that was good. It smelled musty when we first got there, which comes with older places but fine after windows were open and door; there was a window fan and a window Air Conditioner. Stairs were kinda sketchy, so we didn't take our luggage up. Attempted to build a fire outside, but wood was damp and not the kind of wood to cook marshmallows over.
Bird droppings on the chairs, they could have been covered.
If you have children this would be suitable, but for mid 50 yr olds and spending a day in Portland then wanting to come back and chill to a fire or just watch a little TV while its raining at night, was not happening. The dog loved everything. But the location and beauty surrounding helped immensely. Neighbors are too close, glad we were the only ones. The owner was very nice though.
Charming cabin by the lake! A gorgeous spot!
This place was such a wonderful find! Only 25 minutes from downtown Portland, but it feels worlds away. The lake is absolutely beautiful and the house is incredibly charming and old-fashioned. I would just warn anyone who has problems walking that there is only a bathroom on the first floor and I could imagine this stairwell being tricky for people with balance problems. However, no one in our group fell into this category and we were all in love with this place. We swam in the lake, enjoyed the hot tub, grilled, and ate every meal outside at the picnic table. All in all, an absolutely wonderful place for a getaway. Highly recommend!
Great time...awesome location better than expected
We loved the cottage and its amenities. Everything we needed was provided - even lots of fish to catch in the lake! There were games, toys and DVDs available for kids and comfortable outside seating available for all. I particularly enjoyed having the dock upon which to read my book, while my husband and teen-aged daughter kayaked, canoed, and fished upon the lake. One must be careful when walking from the cottage to the lake, as there are lots of tree roots that can be tripped over. We hope to return for a longer stay in the future.
