Wonderful Manzanita Oregon Beach House Retreat with DSL internet access ( WiFi wireless internet access).
Nestled below majestic Neahkahnie Mountain on the north side of Manzanita, this home is a tranquil romantic retreat or family paradise vacation at any time of year.
Three bedroom, two bath beach vacation home is situated on a large lot in a beautiful setting. Large panoramic windows overlook Neah-kah-nie Mountain and meadows where the resident elk often graze. There is a nice view from every room. (the photo of the beach is not the view from the house, it is the beach you see when you walk 7-8 minutes down the street.) This location is very unique. You look outside and feel like you are in the mountains and walk just minutes down the street to a gorgeous beach! Downtown Manzanita is close by as well.
This Manzanita vacation home has beautiful hardwood floors, high-end linens and a fully equipped kitchen.
We took pride to provide the highest quality furnishings, linens and kitchenware. The sheets are high thread count 100% cotton, the duvet covered comforters and pillows are high-end down. Each room is designed very tastefully. We have children, so we decorated the twin room with them in mind. (Regatta theme) There are also books, board games and dvds for all ages, child's table and chairs and a large yard to run and play with a tree house and swing set (tire swing and climbing platform).
We love to cook (and eat) and invite you to take full advantage of our amply equipped kitchen. There is a coffee maker, toaster and microwave, waffle maker, rice cooker, roaster, grill, blender, popcorn maker...and much more. There is a deck, table and chairs in the back and a charcoal barbecue for outside grilling.
Just a short walk to a spectacular beach (see photo of beach) and a one mile walk to downtown Manzanita, Oregon.
This home is a wonderful place to have a fun, relaxing family vacation or a romantic beach getaway.

About Leah Murakami
I discovered the magic of Manzanita in 1996 when I was in Air Force flight training in Southern Oregon. On the weekends,we would take the opportunity to explore the Pacific Northwest. The most memorable was one to Manzanita. We flew into the small airstrip at Nehalem State Park (south end of Manzanita) and walked into town. Immediately I knew this town was very special. The beaches, the mountain, the sunset, the quaint town and all it had to offer were incredible. Years later, after having traveled extensively, I realized even more how amazing Manzanita is and decided it was the place I wanted to spend vacations with the family and friends... so I returned to find the perfect home for us. We found it! As with Manzanita, our home is unique and wonderful. We are happy to share it with you. It's perfect for a family vacation or a romantic getaway.
Leah Murakami purchased this House in 2004
Why Leah Murakami chose Manzanita
Our home is located only a short walk to Manzanita beach, yet its tranquil and sunny location is sheltered from the wind by Neahkahnie Mtn. It's the perfect spot to relax after a day at the beach. The kids can play in the huge backyard with the swings, tree house, kids deck...while you relax in the house or our lovely main patio deck. We have Wi-Fi throughout the house and also the deck so you can work while sitting outside amongst nature. The town of Manzanita with its unique shops and restaurants is close. Manzanita also has an excellent 9-hole golf course. This town is surrounded by Nehalem Bay State Park to the south, with a boat launch, horseback riding, trails for hiking and biking, and Oswald West State Park to the north, with hiking trails and a spectacular surfing beach (Short Sands Beach). The trail head of Neahkahnie Mtn is only a mile from the house with a challenging hike that rewards you with beautiful views. There are endless things to do and see: clamming, fishing, hiking, mushroom hunting (best in the fall), biking, beach combing, golfing, horseback riding, shopping, day trips to Cannon Beach, Astoria, Tillamook..or just relaxing at the beach down the street or at our wonderful house.
What makes this House unique
Huge yard with tire swing, tree house. Fully loaded kitchen with rice maker, waffle maker, high end pots and pans, blender, griddle, much more. It's perfect for families with children, young and old. For families with small children, we have a jogger, small table and chairs, high chair, pack n play, toddler cot, safety railing for a twin bed and much more. If flying in, there's not much you need to bring. We have Wi-Fi, cable TV, lots of DVDs for the family. Gorgeous views of Neahkahnie mountain and a short walk to spectacular Neahkahnie/Manzanita Beach. Just an all-around wonderful house for all ages.

Leah was a most gracious homeowner, going above and beyond for our stay.( Manzanita is a lovely, friendly & small community that far surpassed our expectations.) My only suggestion for large families is that you might lose less precious beach time if on the last day you take your bedding to the nearby laundromat where it will get done in half the time-thus more time for cinnamon rolls or the waves! I certainly would stay here again-and again...
Thank you Paulette for choosing our home. We are so happy to hear you enjoyed the house and the town. We hope you return again.
I'm from Delaware and was visiting my sister in Portland. We looked all around Homeaway for a house on the west coast of Oregon and decided on Leah's home. Great decision! Her home was clean, roomy, very comfy beds, blackberry bushes full of blackberrys, and great location. We were so close to many fun things to do. We went hiking at Oswald park, had a beautiful fun day at Hug point, paddle boarding at Wheeler marina, walked into Manzanita for yummy food and much more! Leah went above and beyond to make our vacation fun and full of fun things to do and lists of pubs and restaurants. We would definitely come back to Leahs beach house!!
Thank you Libby for choosing our home. We are so happy to hear you loved the Oregon coast and your stay at our house. It sounds like you packed in lots of fun and adventures during your vacation. Thanks again...and we hope you return!
We had a great time!
House was as presented in the pictures. Great access too state parks and points of interest. We enjoyed the local beach, built a fire, and enjoyed Leah's home. It was perfect for grandparents to join our daughter and her family. The lical stores in Manzanita were great too, especially the grocery store, Little Apple Deli, and the ice cream/candy store.
So happy to hear you and your family loved Manzanita and enjoyed your stay. Thank you for choosing our home. We hope you return!
A magical stay in a lovely home
We loved the house and the location. It's located down the street from the beach (easy walk) and when you look outside the house windows, you feel like you're in the mountains. We felt so relaxed sitting on the back deck looking at the beautiful scenery and smelling the crisp Coastal air, while our kids played in the large back yard. The house is so cute and we had so much fun. It is just like the pictures and has great amenities. The owner answered all of our questions in a timely manner, and gave us great recommendations of places to visit and eat. We are already planning to come back to Manzanita and back to this home. It was a magical and wonderful vacation for our entire family.
Thank you so much for taking the time to write the review and for choosing our home for your Manzanita vacation. We love the fact that you also felt the house has the best of both worlds between the mountains and the ocean. It is what we love the most about the location. We hope you and your family return soon.
Nice Low Key Location but
--The house is clean and simple; with part of the house locked off to guests. The outdoor furniture is rusted but the deck was a nice location to enjoy the backyard. The treehouse that is so clearly pictured in the site pictures has been grown over. The walk to the beach is short and the beach is lovely. The town of Manzanita is nice and the weekly Farmer's Market had good food, music and wonderful fruits and vegetables.
--One major drawback to staying here again would be the fact that guests are asked to wash the laundry (sheets and towels) and make the beds before leaving the day of departure. This meant we spent out last day - waking up early - to wash all the sheets and towels to make sure they were dry by the time we left. I do not remember reading this in the description for the house and it probably would have turned me off to staying at the house. This may not be a deterrent for some, but it would be for us and it would be nice to have this information up front.
--We did not have to contact the owner (Leah) while we were at the house, but all the contacts we received from Leah prior to our arrival were helpful. She sent us a detailed list of things to do and places to eat in the surrounding area.
--I probably would like to stay closer to the beach next time with a view of the water and smell the sea air. The house is about a ten minute walk from the beach, so not far but in the future we would probably choose to be on the water.
I'm sorry to hear this. I want each and every renter to have the most wonderful experience and I'm sorry if we did not meet your highest expectations. We value your feedback and will do whatever we can to improve for the next renter (or you, if you return).
I wasn't aware of the outdoor furniture or the tree house until I read your review. I replaced the outdoor table and chairs with new ones, which are currently being shipped and will be at the house this weekend. I asked the landscaper to make sure the tree house is cleaned up and not overgrown and to keep this in his cross check.
Regarding the laundry, our cleaners don't have time to wait for all the loads to wash and dry so they asked me to tell the renters to wash the sheets and towels and leave them unfolded on the shelve by the washer/dryer. I was told that this is standard practice for vacation rentals in the area. We don't want or expect the renters to make the beds or clean the house. I am sorry if I wasn't clear about that in the information packet. Again, I appreciate your input.
I understand that it's so nice to be on the beach and your choice to stay on the water for your next vacation. However, we fell in love with the house because of its location, and many renters come back each year because they love it. They say they get the best of both worlds: beach and mountains, with a quick walk to the beach and the vast views of Neahkahnie Mountain. We love the peace and quiet the property offers.
Thank you again for taking the time to give us your review.
Great location, great house, great owner.
We loved our stay. My daughter and hubby visited from Portland. Crabs were eaten.
Beaches were walked, and sunsets watched. Deer walked across the front lawn.
There is approximately zero traffic or other noise (most of the time).
The beach (a very wide beach) is within walking distance, or a 2 minute drive.
This house is not fancy, but it is clean and spacious.
Leah was more-or-less immediately responsive to questions.
From my perspective, it doesn't get better than this.
Here's some information about things to do in or near Manzanita. Oswald West State Park is located a few miles north of our house. This is a great place for the family, and one of our favorite destinations. The short walk from the parking lots to the beach is beautiful (rain forest with bridges, rivers etc) and the beach is wonderful. Hug Point - about 10 minute drive north of our house on HWY 101. During low tide, you can go inside caves and see lots of sea life in tidepools. Arcadia Beach - just north of Hug Point. It's best during low tide. Beautiful beach, lots of tide pools and large rocks jutting out of the water. In Manzanita, you have everything you need from ice cream stores to very nice restaurants. You can go horseback riding, rent a kayak, rent a surfboard (Oswald West beach is great for surfing), go fishing in Nehalem River just south of Manzanita. The mountain you see from our house is called Neahkahnie Mountain. There's great trails to hike, and an amazing view of the coast. Nehalem, couple miles south of Manzanita, is located on the Nehalem River which empties into Nehalem Bay. The river offers excellent fishing. The Nehalem Dock offers a small float with benches for sitting and enjoying the peace of the river (located next door to Nehalem Dock Restaurant). There is a public boat launch just south of Nehalem with a large parking lot and easy access for kayakers wishing to paddle on the river or up to the estuary at Wheeler. Wheeler, a few south of Nehalem offers several large antique stores. It's a small but nice town to visit. Tillamook is about 30 minutes south and they have tours at the Tillamook Cheese factory. I prefer to be outside, but the kids enjoyed it. There is also an Air Museum in Tillamook. If you chose to not go anywhere but the beach down the street, that's great too.
