Michael was very accommodating......the estate was very enjoyable!
Fabulous cottage in Kona
We felt very welcome here. Mike was a most gracious host. The property was beautifully maintained - clearly the home of a passionate gardener! The cottage was pristine and the location couldn't be better, with a pathway down to the shore, and a spacious deck overlooking the water.
We hope to return someday!
Loved Michael's place! The Big Island is our go-to place and we are always on the look out for somewhere unique and fun to stay - Michael's place fit the bill, hands down! Direct water access - my husband is a fish and went snorkeling from the property almost every day (except when the surf was high), a nice big lanai, wonderful view, cozy inside with a comfy bed, kitchen outside under cover on the deck. As others have said, the two AC units are great if you want some extra cooling - but there are windows all around with good cross breezes too. The property itself is beautiful with fruit you can pluck from the trees, birds and adorable little geckos that visited us on a daily basis.
We usually stay closer to Kailua-Kona, from Michael's place we were able to walk to the Sheraton next door for a meal and following Michael's suggestions, we also explored the Kona coffee belt area up in the nearby hills and found some restaurants and local art galleries we hadn't been to before.. it was fun to branch out into a new area and we were still close enough to drive into Kona to some of our other favorite places.
A definite A++ experience! We are already looking forward to coming back again ! !
Our five-day stay at Michael's old-time-Hawaii family homestead was nothing less than magnificent. This cabin is tiny, and ever so cozy, with a kitchen outside on the deck. I grew up on this island and know what's good and what's hype. This is the real deal. We will stay here every time we come to Hawaii Island. Hint: have papayas with lime every morning at the table on the deck. There is a family of friendly geckos who will stop by to say aloha. Priceless all the way. I'd give it more stars if I could.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay! The property is beautiful, well maintained, and very convenient. Beautiful snorkeling waters and sunsets. We really enjoyed the fresh mangos! Although you never see or notice the Sheraton from within the privacy of the property, it is located directly next door which is a short walk for dining and tropical drinks...always nice to return to your own private home. Michael was also Great, he went out of his way to make us feel comfortable and welcome. The cottage is a small living area, but we knew that going into it. Two AC units make it quite comfortable... cold air, hot water, clean, comfortable....Once you're here, you will not want to be indoors anyway. No complaints, we recommend this place for anyone wanting beauty, privacy, and convenience.
We will return!
A Hidden Gem in Kahaluu-Keauhou
Our stay in this villa was nothing less than exceptional. Michael the property owner was quick to address every request and even surprised my wife and I with a bottle of champagne for our 33rd wedding anniversary. The villa while small has everything necessary for magnificent vacation away from the hustle and bustle of the crowds. One thing that doesn't come across in the reviews is the fact it's conveniently located near the marina for easy snorkeling and fishing excursion access, approximately 15 minutes from the vast majority of restaurants in Kona and there's something special about having the ability to get fresh coconut, mangos and bananas from trees on the property. One thing to note is the kitchen facility is outside and while well stocked does require a little pre-planning for each of your meals if you plan to cook during your stay. No issues with parking, private gated complex, and direct access to swimming directly in front of the villa. My wife and I will definitely be back and will be recommending the property to others who frequent the island. Thanks again Michael for a great week.
