Bedrooms 3
Property type house
Minimum Stay 2 - 4 nights

About the property

House, 3 Bedrooms, 3 Baths, Sleeps 8 (6 adults)

Okay, so you and your family or associates are looking for a place on the Coast for that reunion or meeting. You're looking for someplace quiet and private, away from the throngs milling about with their taffy and trinkets. Look no more! This modern 3-bedroom home (2 bedrooms in the main house plus a private, 1 bedroom studio with a separate entrance) is waiting for you. Located on Arch Cape - an unsullied sliver of Oregon Coast just minutes from Cannon Beach and Manzanita - it's dodged the bullet of developers and offers stupendous views from its perch on an escarpment overlooking the Pacific, including (in season) views of migrating whales!

The ocean is visible from just about every corner of Bear's Head. Feel the Pacific breezes as you sip a drink out on the wraparound deck, nestled in the Adirondack chairs. Or, watch the ocean from the comfort of the plush leather furniture through the wall of windows lining the home's exterior. It's a spacious, comfortable living space with edgy decor and enough room for 8 people to stretch out and unwind. And when that storm looms on the horizon, settle in with a movie on the DVD player or VCR. There's also cable TV and free WIFI, so bring along the laptop.

Unless your itinerary includes numerous trips to restaurants in nearby Cannon Beach and Manzanita, plan your meals and bring supplies; Arch Cape has one restaurant. Bear's Head has a full kitchen, beautifully appointed with modern appliances including a dishwasher and microwave. There's extra room for storing those cold things in the pantry through the swinging doors where you'll find a large refrigerator/freezer. (The washer and dryer are in here as well.) Enjoy an ocean view with your meals at the table with room for 6. There's room for 4 more on the padded stools at the marble, wraparound counter. On those days when the sun smiles on the Oregon Coast, fire up the gas grill on the deck and gather 'round the umbrella covered patio furniture for a barbeque.

Combining the 2 bedrooms in the main house with the potential for 3 in the attached studio (available separately!) gets you six people bedded down comfortably (eight maximum). The master bedroom comes with a queen bed, amazing ocean views, and a decor that might challenge the classically prone art lover. The other bedroom has a full bed, equally fun art, and easy access to hall bath with tub and shower. The studio - with its own private entrance and a kitchenette - has 1 bedroom and a comfortable futon with a memory foam mattress. Don't forget your pet dogs! They're welcome for a small nightly fee.

Enveloped by Oswald West State Park and flanked on the north by Hug Point State Park, Arch Cape - and this home - enjoy a privacy and tranquility you won't find in many of Oregon's Coastal cities. Right outside your door and up the hill is the Pacific Crest Trail, the very popular and very long avenue for hikers that runs from British Columbia to Mexico (2,663 miles!). A much less ambitious yet still rewarding hike awaits you in nearby Oswald West State Park where you can take a number of short hikes to Cape Falcon Overlook with its awe-inspiring view of the Pacific! There's also a beach that's popular with boogie boarders and places to picnic. Anglers: Head south about 7 miles to nearby Nehalem where you can try your luck in Nehalem River or arrange a trip out to deeper waters. There's also a great winery in Nehalem with a tasting room where you can sample the local vintages. And, if its trinkets and taffy you want, then Cannon Beach and Manzanita with their shops and restaurants await you!

For some peace and quiet, a great view, and a comfortable and fun place to stay on the Oregon Coast, reserve this lovely home in tranquil and picturesque Arch Cape.

About Vacasa, OR - Oregon Coast Office

Thanks for considering a Vacasa home! We provide full-service management for privately owned vacation homes, and like to think that we offer our guests the best of both worlds: the unique experience of staying in a one-of-a-kind vacation home, with the peace of mind that comes from knowing that the home you book for your special vacation is cared for by professional housekeepers and property managers.

Vacasa began in 2009, simply because our founder and CEO Eric wanted to find a better way to share his wife’s family’s summer home in Long Beach, Washington with guests as a vacation rental. Eric and his early team worked to build Vacasa on the premise that local employees can do what they love most (taking care of guests, homeowners, and properties), while the hands-off tasks of vacation rental management—things like marketing, filing taxes, and maintaining a website—could be handled by a specialized central support team.

Our passion is connecting travelers with the unique experience of staying in a vacation home, and we would be honored to be your host. Please contact us with any questions about this home—our team is standing by!

Amazing view

  • 5 of 5

This home has a very large deck overlooking a beautiful 180 degree view of the ocean. Truly one of the best ocean views we have experienced from an Oregon coast rental. Big kitchen, comfortable beds, and a wood burning fireplace...we could not have asked for more. Overall we had a fantastic experience and cannot say enough about the professionalism of booking with Vasasa.

Only warning I would give future renters; I cannot imagine one family renting the main house and another separate renter occupying the attached unit. It would be very, very awkward to share the deck. I understand Vacasa only rents both units as one, so kudos to them; otherwise the lack of privacy would ruin a vacation.

Overall, perfect beach home with amazing view.

Great House, spectacular views!!

  • 4 of 5

Nice house, better even than the pictures on vacasa. Great ocean view in sunshine or stormy weather. House very well stock with lots of extras. Wished there was more explanation of how to run the TV system (Roku), but our digital challenged group finally figured it out well enough to watch a movie in the evening. Could use a bigger TV in the main house - little studio apartment had bigger Tv than main house. But, both were watchable and enough to get by. Neighborhood is very quiet and private. Ocean view was the best and beach access was doable for the younger agile crowd during low tides. House decor was acclectic and we liked it, mix of modern w new wave and ocean beach Would rent again if in the area, but missed agate hunting on the more southern beaches. Great time was had by all!!

Great View

  • 5 of 5

Nice house, very comfortable and quiet. Beach is rocky but accessible at low tide by those younger and more agile. Sandy beach access is just a short drive down road so that is a plus. The view from the house and the apartment suite was amazing, saw seals every day and also numerous fishing boats. Great house for those that can't walk a lot and just want a great view and relaxation. The house was well stocked with supplies and cooking utensils. We enjoyed grilling on the gas BBQ and there was an ample supply of gas. We did miss agate hunting on the beach, there really aren't any, but did find lots of sand dollars! Overall a great house that we would highly recommend.

Arch Cape Stay

  • 5 of 5

This is a great house in a beautiful and peaceful location. Whether inside or outside, your view of the coast is unobstructed. The beach access is about a block away and requires a little scramble to get to it but that didn't stop us from getting on the beach. The house is well appointed and maintained.

Wonderful view from a comfortable home

  • 4 of 5

As other reviewers have said, the view from this house makes it an absolutely outstanding place to stay. The view is possibly the best we've ever seen from a vacation rental property. We were not aware, however, that there was no beach access from the property and that the potential drop-off at the edge of the yard could be dangerous for some. The accommodations were exceptionally clean and comfortable. The kitchen was well stocked with cooking utensils, dinnerware, etc. We suggest that bath towels/bath mat be replaced. Many towels were ragged. The replacement comment goes for the bed linens which were quite worn. Wish we had known in advance to bring our own matches or lighter to start the fire. For first-time renters, be aware that the access road to the rental house is narrow and rough. All in all, however, it was a good stay, with just a couple of situations to be aware of.
