Located just outside of Ennis, in the historic town of Jeffers. Enjoy the beautiful scenery, abundant wildlife and the quiet of being 'away from it all' while being less than 1 1/2 miles away from the town of Ennis. Completely remodeled 2 bedroom (plus a pullout sofa bed in sun room), 1 bathroom, plus sun room, living room, and full kitchen. Sit back and enjoy the game on your 52 inch Plasma TV with DirectTv, free internet with WiFi is also provided. Outdoor covered patio with BBQ.

This was our second time staying at this cabin. We absolutely love it!! Owner is wonderful, house is clean, comfortable, convenient to town and private. Beautiful views from the back porch and sunroom. Can’t wait to stay again.

End of the road privacy

Great place to stay

What a great place! We watched deer daily and even saw a moose one evening right out the back windows. The place was super clean on arrival and ready for our stay. Spoke with the owner once due to a package arriving and she was so friendly. The only bad thing about this place is the fact we had to leave and go home. We hope to stay here again.

Wonderful Rental

There was a bit of a mix-up when we first arrived, but Cathie immediately worked to fix the situation and everything was resolved swiftly. This property has everything one needs and more. The kitchen is well supplied, the scenery is amazing, the wildlife was fun to see every day, and the place is clean and comfortable. We would definitely return to this rental. Thank you, Cathie, for sharing this wonderful property. We loved our stay!

Wonderful Place - and the views.......

Andrea and I had a wonderful stay! The cabin was great! Very clean and comfortable. Great cooking kitchen with views of lots of deer and antelope in the adjacent fields. We were told by the locals they are having an unusually mild winter….. Still too cold to take advantage of the BBQ and patio area but looking forward to coming back. This was our first visit to Montana and we will definitely come back... in the summer!! Also, want to thank the owners for being so accommodating and allowing us to stay just the two days we needed. The cabin was great! Very clean and comfortable. Great cooking kitchen with views of lots of deer and antelope in the adjacent fields. Came up to visit one of my relatives. This cabin was clean and well furnished. The Madison River is beautiful. We enjoyed Ennis, especially Willie’s Distillery and playing video poker at the Gravel Bar. It was great to stay so close to town but be able to enjoy the peace and quiet and beauty of Ennis out your front door! We will definitely book again when we have more time and plan a fly fishing outing (never have tried) Thank you Cathie! ---- Andrea King

Mice, maggots and no internet

Contacted owner the day after we got there, no internet she said she would check into it. She text back and said the co. said there wasn’t a connection and we did everything they asked to see if we could get it up and running to no avail. They didn’t have anyone in the area to come fix it so we were out of internet for 5 of the 7 days we were there, internet is one of the reasons we picked this rental. House was pretty clean but did have a funny odd smell that we couldn’t pin point. 2nd day we were there we had to clean up mouse droppings off the counters and in some cupboards and had to make sure there wasn’t any food left out anywhere. Woke up in middle of night needing to use the bathroom and there was a mouse in the toilet half drowned and we had to scoop it out and throw it outside. The bedroom by the garage had mice or rats in the wall and my sister couldn’t get much sleep because of the gnawing inside the walls all night. The heaters were full of dust and smelled when we turned them on. The worst part was the maggots we found in kitchen/bathroom area. They were fully developed maggots so that must’ve been the off smell that we couldn’t find, whatever the maggots were living off of. We picked up about 12 maggots off the floor in one day. I messaged all that was going on to the owner as it happened and she did apologize and said she would compensate us for all of our inconveniences while we were at her house. She asked for my address so she could send me a check but that never happened. I sent her a message asking her about it and she never replied back. It was a quiet country place but I will never stay here again. Wish the owner would’ve responded to my messages after we got home. I live in the country myself and know there can be mice around but when they are in the house and in the walls something needs to be done if you are renting your place out and maggots are just disgusting. I think they trust their cleaning person a little too much.

Peaceful Paradise

My son and I went came to MT to get recharged with the surrounding beauty and this cabin certainly was the perfect place to come home to everyday! Such a cozy cabin and the setting is so beautiful! Can’t wait to return!

Amazing Cabin

We enjoyed our stay so much! The cabin was the perfect spot to spend our honeymoon- we did not want to leave! Host was great with communication - the check in code did not show up in VBRO app she made sure we got info needed asap and was very helpful. Hope to come back in the future!!!

Fishing Vacation

This is the second time we have stayed at this cabin and will definitely return. The cabin is very comfortable, clean, and well equipped. The location is close to everything you would want to see in Southwest Montana. We fished four different rivers, grilled dinner each night and visited Norris Hot springs many times. Wonderful trip!

This place was perfect for us. We were going to a wedding in Jeffers and the location was great. Everything was great about this place, enjoyed sitting out back in the morning sun drinking our coffee. Cathie, our host was great also. We will be back!

This was our 3rd stop in our 3 week trip. This home had everything you might need. Was a wonderful place to come back to after a day of hiking and sightseeing. Close to many wonderful things to do.

Late September 10 day stay with my wife for 8 nights

We really enjoyed this unique property. About a mile out of beautiful Ennis, Mt. with morning and evening animal movement very close to the house. The appointments in the home are fist class. We would go back without question.

Wonderful Stay!

My husband and I stayed in the fishing cabin for three nights on the first leg of our trip to Montana. We loved the small town feel of Ennis and had a lovely time exploring the town's shops and restaurants. The house was also a great starting point for our day trips to Yellowstone and the Grand Tetons! After our long days of exploring it was nice to come back to a warm shower and comfy bed to relax and rest up for the days ahead. Cathie was a great communicator and we can't recommend this place enough to anyone traveling in or through the area!

Amazing Family Vacation!

My family and I had the most wonderful vacation stay at this property. We absolutely loved the little fishing town and how conveniently located the property was to all the major parks and attractions. We took a few day trips to Yellowstone and spent a day down at Grand Teton National Park and Jackson Hole. We made our way over to Cody for a night rodeo and visited neighboring towns, Virginia City and Nevada City. We stayed on the go most days but there is plenty to be enjoyed right in Jeffers and Ennis without venturing far. Ennis has a nice park on the river, there is horseback riding nearby, the river and lake are right there so plenty of fishing, tubing, hiking, bird and wildlife watching. Every morning we woke up to a field of pronghorn and deer. The large windows in the back room and kitchen brought the outdoors in with unobstructed views of the back field, wildlife and snow capped mountains in the background. The property was very clean and well maintained. The house was fully stocked with everything needed to make our stay cozy and comfortable. The property owners were so courteous and responsive. This was easily my family’s most memorable vacation and we highly recommend this property.

What a beautiful experience in Ennis. We had a tough time getting there, but then we realized why. The cottage is situated so that you feel completely excluded in the heartland of Montana. Not to worry, if you can’t find the place, the lovely Cathie will help you get there. It’s right across from the big white church right as you enter into Jeffers. The place was perfect and had everything we needed for a few days “off the grid”. It actually may be the only sink I’ll ever mind doing dishes at because the view is spectacular. You will meet some four legged friends along the way. The puppers flocked around the fields and the cows often came to our little homestead to say hello. On the way to the retreat you may come across some affectionate horses, but if you’re gentle, they’ll let you approach them and love on them a little. We had a little trouble with the internet, but it was caused by an outage that neither Cathie nor her wonderful son could control. We were only using Wi-Fi to watch TV as we were winding down for the night so it was no problem. However, Cathie was lovely enough to try and reimburse us for the inconvenience. You are only 3 minutes away from downtown Ennis where you’ll find great food, breweries and all around just lovely people. Plus, if you’re a fly fisherman (my boyfriend who joined me is a fly fishing guide in Montana) then you’re just a hop and skip away from launching your boat for a beautiful day on the Madison. If I had to choose my favorite part of Cathie’s place, it would definitely be the sunroom. You’re surrounded by floor to ceiling windows and you’ll be able to see all that Montana has to offer. It was a wonderful way to wake up and take in a new day in the Treasure State. My boyfriend and I loved it so much that we are already going back to Cathie’s place in September. We had a beautiful experience and cannot recommend Fisherman’s Retreat more! See you soon!

We have been enjoying the wonderful town of Ennis and fly fishing the Madison for 37 years. We camped for years with our family and friends at Valley Gardens just down the road from the cabin we purchased and remodeled. Now we can share the same beautiful views, amazing sunsets and wildlife with others!

What makes this property unique

Get the feeling of being in nature while still having the luxury of being only minutes away from town. You will fall in love with this cabin, with its gorgeous views and wildlife that regularly visit the property. Plus it is just walking distance from the famous Madison River and only a short drive away from other great fishing locations such as the Big Hole and Ruby and Ennis Lake.
