Boat in or drive to 3 bedroom, 2 bath located on the Sacramento River
This renovated home is located on Long Island just off of Grand Island in the Sacramento River Delta. There are 3 queen bedrooms and 2 baths on two levels overlooking the river. In addition, there is a sleeper sofa for overflow for total sleeping space for 8. For the warm summer, an outdoor shower is privately located just under the main deck. Well behaved family pets are welcome, although the yard is not fenced. TV, satellite and wi-fi are available along with hundreds of VHS tapes and DVDs. The house has private docks both on the river and in back on the slough (or the dredge cut as it's known), so boat in or put the boat in the water at one of several nearby launch ramps. Fish off the docks or relax on the covered deck while watching the local skiers and fishermen work the water out front. Wood fire pit and comfortable outdoor furniture allows our guests to fully enjoy the weather at any time of year. There is an office set up in the lower bedroom, just in case you need to keep in touch while you're away.

About Martha Pearson
We bought this house as a fishing shack and to have a berth for our 32' Erickson sailboat and have remodeled extensively in the years since. In fact, we lived in this house while reworking the house next door --where we live today. We are boaters who enjoy all the Delta has to offer and this house puts you so close to the water, you'll never want to leave. At least that was our story and why we moved from Sacramento. We are also active private pilots and involved in Sacramento real estate.
Martha Pearson purchased this House in 1996
Why Martha Pearson chose Sacramento County
Life is just better on the water --and you can't get any closer than this. The view, the immediate access to the water activities we enjoyed were why we chose this place to call home. If you don't do anything but sit and enjoy the view of the river, you'll be entertained by the water skiers and island is quiet and charming with really nice neighbors. This kitchen in this house is a dream and stocked well with good quality appliances, dishes and cookware. If you're looking to cook up a few fancy meals while you're with us and wonder about specific items, just ask and we'll see what we can do to accommodate. We always stock the basics but include coffee, tea, spices, foil and plastic wrap as well. There is usually something edible in the yard --the Delta is known for it's lush abundance, and this property is no exception.
What makes this House unique
Being on the water with your own dock means that you can take a quick water ski run, or fish a little then relax a while only to do it again without the hassle of taking the boat in and out of the water. The Delta is beautiful and this location is convenient to the Grand Island Mansion, Delta Diamond Farm and the Ryde Hotel, all wonderful wedding venues. Isleton is about two miles and Walnut Grove about 10 miles. Delta fishing is awesome and this is great water for skiing -- right out front. From either of the two decks overlooking the water, the line between inside and out is deliberately blurred so you're encouraged to spend the days with the doors wide open to the great Delta weather. For cooler months, there is a cozy gas fireplace and heated floors to make things comfortable.

Beautiful, peaceful stay
Thanks for the wonderful accommodations and personal touch on this house rental. The house was clean and had lots of room.
Home away from home
Beautiful and quiet spot on the river. Spacious and comfortable accommodations, fully equipped. Martha is one of the most nicest people you could ever meet. We’d stay here again in a heartbeat!
Although the weather was not cooperating, just staying inside and looking at the views through the opened spaced windows was relaxing.
Our home Away From Home
The River House shows itself as a true labor love as you open the front door and enter a warm and embracing environment of welcome. At the same time your eyes are taken to the balcony and the Sacramento River beyond. We have stayed there six times and each time it feels like going home. This River House is not to be missed. We give this place our strongest recommendation.
Beautiful setting, well appointed
Everything was great for our stay. The place was clean, quiet and comfortable and probably the best stocked of any rental house we've used. Having the owners next door was a bonus as they could provide anything we needed, which turned out to be no more than answering a couple of questions. We loved the neighborhood, I think it should be called Oak Island for the abundant large trees, and the neighbors we encountered were quite friendly.
We enjoyed the satellite TV as there were a lot of sports to be watched. The kitchen is well-designed with cookware and appliances that filled our needs. We spent a lot of time on the middle deck watching the boat traffic. The island is the perfect size for short walks.
There are a number of interesting things to do and see in the Isleton/Rio Vista/Walnut Grove areas.
Fishing off the dock on the Sacramento was a little difficult with the constant current and large wakes and the dock was a little unstable. The "cut" across the street was a better place to fish and a relaxing spot to hang out. Having the table and chairs situated in the shade by the roses was a nice touch. The fish didn't seem to like our bait but we caught a few small bass with lures.
All in all it was a wonderful stay. Thank you to the Pearsons for setting things up so well.
