We invite you to come and stay at our wonderful beachfront home, the Galveston Sea Star, located in the Sea Isle community! Enjoy amazing views of the gulf while relaxing on the balcony or spend time with family downstairs at the picnic table during a cookout.

The Sea Star will sleep up to 10 people in 3 bedrooms and a downstairs Murphy bed. Each room includes a TV and fresh linens on the beds. The living room provides spectacular views of the ocean as well as easy access to the kitchen. The downstairs floor has wood floors throughout and the kitchen provides granite counter-tops and stainless appliances.

The beach is car-free (other than the occasional city beach official), giving parents more peace of mind when your kids are playing. The home includes an outdoor shower, a picnic table and 2 person swing, fast cable wireless internet, HDTV's, Blu-Ray players, and a spacious dining area. For those familiar with the Sea Isle area, we have also installed a cell phone signal booster to improve signal strength and reliability.

Your stay will include a pass to the Sea Isle community area, which includes a pool, tennis, private fishing pier, and fish cleaning station. Located just 1.4 miles away, the hangout also has an excellent restaurant and bar.

We are happy to consider up to 2 dogs, but will not accept any dogs weighing more than 25 pounds, NO EXCEPTIONS. All dogs must be disclosed upon inquiry.

This house has it all including wonderful hosts!

This is our 3rd stay at the Sea Star and we are looking forward to our return. The house has special touches such as a welcome basket, a well stocked kitchen and pantry so that we don’t have to bring a lot of staples, quality appliances, a vacant lot on either side which affords privacy; a wonderful deck with a gate to keep the dogs or little children secured, hosts that have gone out of their way to think of everything one may need or want, a nice wide path to the beach, very comfortable beds; 2 new leather recliners in the main room; smart TVs and fast internet/U-verse, a nice deep beach.....literally we feel like we have come home each time we visit. In addition, our hosts were very gracious in working with our concerns over post Harvey conditions. They were right; the island, week and weather was perfect and we thoroughly enjoyed our visit!

Not an experience we care to repeat

No busy streets to cross to access beach is a plus; however, we won't return or recommend rental of this beach house. First, we couldn't lock house first 4 days of week long stay. There was spray can on mantel with note to use on the lock when it freezes, so owners know there is a problem. Constant spraying didn't unfreeze it for days. This was a worry as both security and theft issues, certainly reflecting very little regard for renters' safety or possessions. The bluray player remote couldn't be located. Source of smell in master bedroom couldn't be determined. I noticed either algae or mold on outside of house so maybe smell is emanating from something similar in walls. Also, bed linens didn't fit bed in master bedroom so week of sliding around the mattress while trying to sleep. There wasn't adequate dishwasher detergent or toilet paper, and the benches at dining table painfully pinched our legs when in shorts. Several days before check-in, the owners sent an email demanding we act as their maid service, which is deceptively, unethically and unprofessionally not advertised on the website, then left a note in house that their maid can be reached if any problems - conflicting messages. When I relayed I have never paid for a vacation, then provided maid services, I was told they do have cleanings crews come in after stays but "(s)ince there is no one coming in the same day as your departure," you are cleaning. I will be discussing with the Galveston County Health District both the legality of the owners' entitlement mentality in requiring renters to be their maids as well as the unsanitary conditions imposed on renters by the owners' refusal to professionally clean the beach house immediately after renters' stays. There are no outdoor recliners, which have always been available in our many years of beach vacations, other than a broken, rusted yard chair recliner downstairs. During entire week, constructions workers walked through the beach house private yard to the beach, pipe was being installed along the road and each concrete driveway on road was broken with a jackhammer. Noise was horrendous, and we were unable to leave the house for a day while work was done on the house driveway. Meanwhile, construction workers were out on the beach taking pictures of us and urinating in surf. We have been unable to obtain the refund of our property deposit, despite carefully maintaining the beach house and leaving in same condition as check-in.

I don't want to leave here.

Sea Star is such a wonderful home. Bright and beachy feel throughout with great appliances, tvs, comfortable beds, awesome showers. Never ran out of hot water with great pressure. Location is the best right out the door to the beach and the little market across the street. We had guests from 8 months old to 80 years old and everyone was comfortable. Spent a wonderful month at the Sea Star and are leaving w many incredible memories. Owners are so nice and are great to work with.

Truly a wonderful place to stay. Beautiful house. All the amenities you could possibly want. Everyone went above and beyond to ensure a perfect stay. Even a welcome gift from the owners. You can't go wrong selecting this property. We will definitely be staying here again. Such a memorable vacation.

About Rose Rhodes

Rick and Tina met back in the 1970s while attending the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston. We have spent our working lives serving rural communities with limited access to health care. Dr. Rick is a small town doctor who specializes in making house calls to elders, and Dr. Tina is an occupational therapist who works with special needs children in country schools and is a university professor. Paul and Rose work in engineering and human resource management in California. Lily is in high school and looking at colleges! After being away for so many years, the whole family is enjoying being back in Galveston.

We chose this property because it is located on a beautiful wide swath of beach, has plenty of open space on all sides, and it is within an easy walk of the local convenience store. Because it is a part of a homeowners association, we also have access to a swimming pool and private fishing pier.

What makes this house unique

In addition to being perfectly situated on a car-free beach, this house has a large, secure storage area containing bicycles, beach and barbeque tools, and a variety of useful supplies. The house is in pristine condition and has two twin bunk beds, one queen bed, one king bed, and a comfortable new full-sized Murphy bed. The kitchen is well appointed, and the living area and bunk bed room have new flat screen TVs. Internet service and a home security system are provided.
