This roomy, bright and airy two-bedroom, two-bath condo looks spanking new, with fresh paint, new floors and all the conveniences. I am a writer and must keep in touch with clients when I visit, so I've installed lightening-fast broadband with WiFi and a printer/fax/scanner/copier and supplies. A modern desk chair is stored in the walk-in closet.
There is a new 50-inch LED TV in the living room, and a new 32-inch model in the master bedroom. I provide full HD service, including HBO, Cinemax, Showtime, the sports package, On Demand, DVR and DVD and pay-per-view (you pay for that). There's also a Roku box for Netflix (included), Hulu and other Internet TV services.
The chief attraction: the large porch looking into the live oak canopy. Open the three French doors from the living room and the two from the master bedroom, and make the porch part of the living space. There's AC when you need it, electric heat for chilly nights, and big French doors so you can sleep to the sound of the surf. The porch has sliders and screens and a ceiling fan, so it can be used in all weather.
Because this is a second-floor unit, no one will be walking overhead or glancing in your windows, and the spacious living room seems even larger with the vaulted ceiling.
The condo is very quiet and private, and I begin my day with coffee on the porch as I read the New York Times and Wall Street Journal on my laptop. The porch furniture is in excellent condition and very comfortable. Two of the four chairs recline. Pull up the ottoman and lie down to read or snooze!
The kitchen is fully equipped for preparing even the fanciest multi-course meal, and the bright and spacious dining room has comfortable seating for eight. You'll find all you could need: toaster, microwave, oven and cooktop, high-quality kitchen knives, heavy flatware and pretty dishes and glassware. There's a rice cooker, blender, salad spinner and lots of high-quality cookware.
The beach is a five to seven-minute walk, and the tennis courts are even closer. Parking is right out front. (You'll get two parking passes and never have to search for a space. But don't come in a pickup or motorcycle. The community doesn't allow them.). Washer and dryer are in the unit. A new, super-quiet dishwasher was installed in January 2018.
The bedrooms are at opposite ends of the unit, for lots of privacy. With the windows open you can sleep to the sound of the surf.
The airports at Orlando and West Palm Beach are both about 90 miles away, putting Vero Beach off the beaten track for tourists. The drive to either airport is relatively quick and easy, almost all on I-95 and other limited-access highways. It's a painless trip, not at all like driving 90 miles in the Northeast or West Coast.
I am available 24/7 for questions, and have a caretaker nearby to handle any issues.
Come on down! You'll love it! Bring bicycles or rent them, Sea Oaks is bike friendly with lots of parking spaces and bike-conscious drivers. And there's good, safe riding along A1A and the Jungle Trail along the Indian River. Search "Vero Beach bike rentals" to find your wheels.

About Jeff Brown
I am a writer -- a refugee from the newspaper business. My wife and son and I live in Yardley, PA, a Philadelphia suburb, and have a second home just east of Bozeman, Montana. With our son now an engineering student at Cornell, we'll divide our time between Yardley, Sea Oaks and the mountain place. When at Sea Oaks we play tennis at least once a day, frequent the fitness center and lounge by the pool. We usually eat in the condo, so we have it very well equipped, but find plenty of places to dine in Vero Beach and Sebastian.
Jeff Brown purchased this Condo in 2012
Why Jeff Brown chose Wabasso Beach
We are all avid tennis players, and we searched high and low for a vacation community that offered high-quality tennis rather than a couple of courts tucked into an odd corner. We like the beach and prefer it quiet, not paved with oily bodies and commotion. By law, there are no high-rise buildings in Vero, and the area is a bit out of the way. If you've vacationed at the Outer Banks, Myrtle Beach, Hilton Head or outside Charleston, you'll find this completely different. Sea Oaks is what a beach community ought to be.
What makes this Condo unique
Tennis, beauty and serenity. Sea Oaks has an Old Florida feel but with all the modern amenities. The developers kept the property as natural as possible, with lots of live oaks and palms, and shortcuts through the woods via lovely pathways with old-fashioned streetlights. The big pool and hot tub overlooking the beach are especially appealing, and there's a smaller pool and hot tub a two-minute walk from the unit.

Very comfortable. Like being at home
Seaoaks is a fabulous place to stay with a wonderful clubhouse on the ocean
Difficult to overstate how special this property truly is: ideally situated in a quiet gated community, the overall ambiance is perfect for a stress-free vacation. Jeff's place is beautifully appointed and fully furnished with every convenience you could ask for--plus Jeff himself is an affable, efficient and helpful owner. Perhaps best of all: if you love tennis, you'll love the 16 Har-Tru courts. On our recent stay, my wife and I played 10 of 11 days--even if there's a brief shower, the courts are very quickly playable again. Plus the folks at Sea Oaks (tennis center, restaurant--literally everyone we met) could not have been nicer and more accommodating. Highly recommended!
Great Lovely Stay!!
We had a family reunion at Disney's Vero Beach. My immediate family opted to stay at Jeff's condo instead. It was only 0.5 mile away and it worked out really well. The condo was spacious for the 4 of us and sunny with many large windows, French doors and large porch. It was pleasantly furnished and the kitchen had many tools and washer/dryer.
After spending the day at Disney, we enjoyed returning to the peaceful atmosphere of Sea Oaks, where we used the pool and had direct access to the beach. It was turtle nesting season and if you're on the beach at 7-8 am, you may catch the turtle patrol. They come around in an ATV to check on the nests and we were able to see leatherback and green turtle hatchings!
The hurricane policy gave us peace of mind but I'm glad there was no hurricane!
Thanks Jeff, we had a great stay!
Quiet, peaceful and well maintained
Jeff was easy to work with, was very responsive and just made our vacation easy. Sea Oaks is a lovely beach and tennis community and it's situated in a very dense tropical location so since the unit is upstairs, you feel like you are in a tropical jungle at tree level. The unit is very spacious, is clean and well maintained with a well appointed kitchen, dining room, nice Flat screens in the main living area and master bedroom. There is a nice dining room and a huge enclosed patio with sliding windows.
The three other units in the building were occupied but we hardly heard our neighbors. Jeff provides easy-to-follow instructions and thinks or everything. He even had beach chairs and an umbrella!
The beach is a 5 minute walk with access at the Sea Oaks main clubhouse that has a large pool. If you need a break from the beach there is plenty to do around Sea Oaks and Vero Beach is just 20 minutes away.
If you have children just know that Sea Oaks is an older mostly retired community even though there were some children down at the main pool by the beach, but if you are a family looking for a lot of other families with kids Sea Oaks may not be your place.
Excellent well maintained rental
This was our 4th Sea Oak rental in last 4 years. We love staying at Sea Oaks due to its privacy and access to the beach. This property was by far the best condo we had ever rented. Jeff was great to work with and paper work/contract/payment went very smooth. The condo is bright and airy in the trees with privacy all around on the second floor. Modern appointments include very nice furnishings, office printer, top end cable service/tv with recording capability, fast internet and everything needed for comfort. Best part of the rental was the comfortable bed. We enjoyed our visit very much and will definitely will try to get same condo next visit. Thank you!
Terrific, beautifully appointed modern condo in Sea Oaks Tennis & Beach Community.
This was our second monthly rental at this unit and we have already signed up for our next winter escape. The owner is always conscientious in making sure everything is right for our visits. The condo is bright and airy in the trees with privacy all around on the second floor where we found no need to close the shades. Modern appointments include very nice furnishings, office printer, top end cable service/tv with recording capability, and everything needed for comfort. Beautiful ocean beach and swim club, sixteen tennis court facility as well as quiet pool and eight mile bike trail along the inland waterway are just brief walks away. The dining on site is relaxed and top notch with very friendly and attentive staff. We only used the car for travel to golf, area attractions (theater, museum, kayaking, shopping) and Vero Beach dining which is terrific. Residents and renters are a congenial mix of very active retirees and folks still working, enjoying the relaxed lifestyle of Florida life. In short, a perfect getaway.
The lovely Sea Oaks community stretches across the barrier island from the beach to the Indian River. Sea Oaks is a top-rated tennis community, with 16 lovely Har-Tru courts nestled among the live oaks and palm trees. (Courts are swept by the staff, not the players, and each court with a water fountain and shaded table and chairs.) Court time is included in your temporary club membership, and you'll pay extra only for lessons or the ball machine. The pro shop will help you find players, and there are numerous groups with contract time that are always looking for new members and substitutes. Hang around the verandah and you are sure to pick up a match in no time. There is food and Wi-Fi there, too! The fitness center adjoins the tennis center and has the most up-to-date workout equipment. Sea Oaks and the Vero Beach area are popular with winter 'snowbirds,' but not so much with tourists. That makes it very serene. Residents complain about traffic if there are three cars at a light! You'll never find wall-to-wall bodies on the beach like in the Outer Banks or Jersey Shore -- not in winter or summer. There are some top-quality attractions, like Cape Kennedy and the theme parks at Orlando, both less than two hours away. But the real reasons to visit Sea Oaks are tennis, beach-going, walking, running and biking -- or just soaking up the peace and quiet with a good book by the pool or under the live oaks. Some describe it as a Caribbean island with all the conveniences and amenities of the U.S. There are numerous, affordable golf courses in the area, as well as bike trails and nature walks. Anglers swear by the Indian River and the Sea Oaks boat pier, and there's easy access via the parks on the Route 510 causeway to the mainland, about five minutes away. Culture buffs find live theater and movies in Vero Beach, about eight miles down the road. Foodies have their pick of high-end restaurants in Vero, the full range of fast-food spots and everything in between. At Sea Oaks, excellent food is served by the pool overlooking the beach, in the formal restaurant in the clubhouse by the pool, and on the veranda at the tennis center. A good supermarket is about 10 minutes away.
