Overview

About the property

3 Bedrooms, 2 Baths (Sleeps 8 but can only take 4 guests)

This is a vacation rental of an entire cabin and not a hosted or shared space or bed-and-breakfast. Fully outfitted kitchen, laundry, linens and towels provided.

There are 3 bedrooms with 5 beds sleeping 8 but for rentals we can only take 4 people. If you use less than 3 bedrooms we will refund $20 off the cleaning fee.

There is one parking space.

Please inquire about pets, there is a $25 pet fee.

The cabin was remodeled from its 1976 origins in 2012 so gone is that beloved 70's paneling and the extra walls so the whole kitchen - dining - living area flow together; with the original open beam ceiling it has a comfy spacious feel to it. This living area has the deck off of it and it has wonderful southern exposure so there it is light and bright all day long. The view of the Carson Range near Heavenly and the grassy green lawn make this a nice little peaceful refuge.

The space of the house is nicely laid out and it utilizes it well. First floor has full size bedroom with roomy closet and queen bed, full bath and laundry room you can use. Second floor has a 'cozy' bedroom with a pretty ponderosa pine outside its window (queen bed), plus the large bedroom with the same view of the mountains as from the deck. This bedroom has a queen bed and two single futons. The second floor has the vaulted chalet ceiling, and there is another bath with shower.

Kitchen has all new appliances that includes a gas stove (instead of electric!) and, mercifully, a dishwasher. With the granite counter tops and island, plus all the cooking gear and plates you'll need you can get to work cooking up a storm in there should you desire.

There are a couple of bar stools at the island, and the dining table has a leaf so you can expand it to seat 8.

Living room has new efficient wood stove, 46 inch LCD HDTV and DVD player, and some comfortable seating - better than we have at home!

All the bedrooms have clothes closets and new high quality, non-toxic mattresses made in the US. The big bedroom has a small (32 x 48') Foosball/multi game table and a 37 inch LCD HDTV.

What we have in the cabin:

The cabin has a refrigerator, gas stove, dishwasher, microwave, toaster oven, rice cooker, blender, coffee maker with filters, coffee grinder, a standard set of pots and pans, dishes, food containers, mugs and glasses. Washer, dryer, hair dryer in each bathroom, iron and small ironing board in the laundry room.

One set of bed linens per bed, four pillows per bed, one bath and one hand towel per guest. Also in the closet are deck loungers and canvas “director” chairs.

Deck / Patio:

A couple of lounges, some armchairs, collapsible 'camp' chairs, and a couple of beach chairs for the deck on the cool green lawn.

Outdoor Grill:

Weber One Touch Gold 22.5 Inch Charcoal Grill and grilling tools.

Location:

Great central location in a beautiful quiet neighborhood. No ugly power lines! Just up the street you can walk or ski into the Upper Truckee Marsh Conservancy area and make your way to the lake or the Tahoe Keys.

Located 2 miles from the 'Y' (US 50 and 89 - many stores and Raleys supermarket) and 4 miles from Stateline (Casinos).

The South Lake Tahoe Bike Path passes through here a few blocks away. Its about a 10 minute bike ride to go 2 miles up to Regan Beach.

The great City of South Lake Tahoe Recreation complex is a few miles away and has a swimming pool, basketball courts and weight room.

The Bijou Community Park is near the recreation center located on Al Tahoe Blvd, and it has a Free Frisbee Golf Course, skateboard park, and many other features.

Nearby also is the year round South Lake Tahoe Ice Arena. Its 4 miles to Heavenly Ski Area. 5 miles to Camp Richardson.

You may buy damage insurance for a $59 fee instead of giving us a deposit. The damage insurance is issued by Homeaway and is not refundable. To arrange this click 'Email Owner' with your dates, make that request and I'll send you a quote with which you can book the cabin.

Please inquire about pets. No cats please. Please clean up after your dog outside and keep them off the beds, comforters, and throws.

About Peter Rapier

My name is Peter. The first place I backpacked in California was in the Desolation Wilderness, first rock climbing at 90 Foot Wall, and up near Luther Pass south of here is the first place we camped out with our daughter (at 4 months). We love it up here and have been coming for years, bringing visitors and family along.

Peter Rapier purchased this chalet in 2012

Why Peter Rapier chose Highland Woods

Central location yet quiet, no ugly power lines, walking and bike trails right nearby.

Lovely property

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed our stay in this cabin in Tahoe Highland Woods. The cabin is nicely updated and furnished. We stayed during the week of Christmas and the cabin was decorated for the holidays and there was a gift basket waiting for us on the kitchen island. The neighborhood is quiet and easily accessed. The owner promptly answered our questions before and during the stay.

Charming, Clean Mountain Cabin

  • 5 of 5

We had a great time in this cozy cabin, The living/eating/kitchen area is just the right size. When we were inside, we spent most of our time together here because there is plenty of comfortable seating. Everything was easy to use because of the great instructions,. The cabin is two blocks from the bike trail that goes for miles so the location is great. We will definitely stay here again if we return to South Lake Tahoe and have already recommended the cabin to friends.

Modern rustic cozy vacation home

  • 5 of 5

Clean, well-kept, well-equipped and thoughtfully decorated home. Ample space and great porch and backyard space. Loved the visitors of nature: birds, squirrels and even bunny rabbits. Owner great about responding promptly. Had a wonderful family reunion here. Would've stayed longer if I could.

Great space, great location!

  • 4 of 5

This place was perfect for our family. The house was super clean and had everything we needed. The grassy area in the back was great for the kids to play on and spy cute bunnies. Nice neighborhood to walk in and close to all the restaurants and businesses in town. We would definitely stay here again!
