About John Stewart
After spending many vacations in Belize we decided to purchase a home. Belize is a magical country. With only 300,000 people, it is remote and unspoiled. The beauty of the country can not be described. You have to visit to appreciate all it has to offer.
John Stewart purchased this Villa in 2013
Why John Stewart chose Hopkins
It is private and secure, yet close to shopping, restaurants and attractions. We are the only house occupied in the 24/7 secure gated community. You have complete privacy on your own Caribbean beach.
What makes this Villa unique
We think the Jabiru Nest is the best place to stay in all of Belize.

Dreamy Hopkins Getaway
Our stay at this property was flawless. John met us upon arrival and gave us the tour and suggestions for restaurants which we happily welcomed. The property is about 2 miles from Hopkins and private without being isolated. You will want a car so you can take advantage of the many restaurants and activities in the area. This is not a typical “resort” area, so if you need lots of local luxuries, Hopkins probably isn’t for you. If you love the ocean, local culture, very friendly folks, you will love it. The home is beautiful and very roomy. The long wharf and dock were the main location of our down time, taking turns napping in the hammocks. We were a party of 8 adults, and each couple had their own private bedroom with en suite bath. We enjoyed the common living and cooking area and appreciated the opportunities for an escape to read, swim, nap, kayak, etc. It was heavenly to take dinner out to the dock and eat with a breeze and under the stars. We needed a couple of cooking/kitchen items, and John readily helped us out. We cooked in 4 dinners and went out for 3. The local groceries have most everything you need, but you would be advised to be flexible in your ingredients. Fresh produce is not plentiful, at least in January. There were plenty of beach and bath towels and a new washer/dryer which we appreciated. The beds were comfy. One couple noted that the bed linens could use some updating as they kept slipping off. Minor issues in paradise. We love this area and had an excellent stay. Of course, no review is complete without a shout out to Splinter, the house dog.
Property was just as advertised. Hopkins is a great place to spend some time. The house was secure. Missed the dog though
Amazing place. Amazing Hosts!
What a special part of the world. We had a great time exploring the country. The hosts were very helpful in planing our adventures and giving us great advise on how to enjoy the country. Belize is not for everyone, but for us it was perfect. It was an amazing adventure! The dirt roads did not faze us one bit. The driving directions were perfect. The internet was slow just like we were told in advance and we hardly used it. We were too busy enjoying the outdoors. The house was clean and comfortable. We'll be back to stay in this beautiful home again soon.
Very accomodating and stress reliever
Our two family’s of four enjoyed our stay in Hopkins. The backyard pier and ocean front view was fantastic and we even caught fish in the evening. John was very accomodating to our needs for places of interest, massage, and local chef. We really enjoyed splinters (dog)evening visits and the kids loved him. The only thing we would recommend is more cooking pots and pans with a better equipped kitchen to cook evening meals.
Thank you for your kind review. We had a great time hosting you. We're glad we got to see you every day of your visit. We had no idea you needed more pots for your clan. Next time just ask and we'll be glad to accommodate you.
We booked this house for a family vacation. The house and property were beautiful and worked well for our group of nine. The pier is amazing to watch the ocean and stars. The town of Hopkins was enchanting, we had some great meals and fun listening to music in town. John made sure we had great directions from Belize City as it is a 2.5 hour drive at least. Make sure to bring all items you will require, including paper products and basics like laundry detergent.
