Casa Pura Vista

This is a great place, but there’s a couple of things you need to know before renting.First, if you can’t tell from the pictures, only the bedroom and bathroom are enclosed, the kitchen is completely open – no screens. That means bugs – it's Costa Rica after all. No mosquitoes, but beetles, flies, little flying things, and the occasional millipede. You can reduce the insects by not turning on the outside lights at night (finish eating before dark) and cleaning up dishes etc. immediately after using them. If insects bother you, this isn’t the place for you.Second, it’s in a neighborhood. That means you’ll hear trucks on the highway, motorcycles on the streets, dogs barking, and roosters crowing (even at night). If all you want to hear is howler monkeys, this isn’t the place for you.But, if those two things don’t bother you, this is a great place. Clean, convenient and easy to get to. Very secure, with high walls and fences, and CCTV. The pool gets very deep, 6 feet or so. Nice kitchen, comfortable bed, big bathroom. Great views of Cerro Chirripo, the El General Valley, and even the center of San Isidro itself.Owner was very responsive to texts if an issue came up. One suggestion we have is to add a ‘house book’ with the basics of how everything works. Like the wifi password, how the TVs work, how to operate the dryer works, etc.Again, its great place for a couple to explore the area as long as you don’t want the ‘ecolodge’ experience.

Eighth Wonder of the World!

This place is amazing. After walking down the stairs, you see the most incredible rock house with built-in spa, open concept living/dining areas, and truly incredible bathroom with heated seat and great shower. We loved spending family time together in this memorable location. If we had more time, we would have enjoyed hanging out in the gazebo over the river. Very excited to return someday.

A very clean rental

For being in the rural town, the property inside and out was very clean. Parking is tough, 4 wheel drive may be needed and there are manual gates. It was affordable and as advertised. A very pretty and picturesque location.

Great property, view, and host

Our stay at Mario and his families place was exquisite. We will definitely recommend his property for future stays. One issue that has gone unresolved is with VRBO. I was charged extra fees that their helpdesk representative could not justify. When opening a ticket with their helpdesk to have the issue resolved, they closed the ticket without any follow up or reason for the extra charges. We will not be using VRBO in the future and don't recommend their services to anyone. They are practicing unethical business habits and use offshore helpdesk and automated responses to relieve themselves of speaking with customers. I alerted them of the closed unresolved ticket in a survey with no response.

Wonderful mountain top cabin

At first the initial drive seemed very long, it is like 8 miles total, approx, but after driving it 12 times it got better/easier. And being so remote there are mucho other homes up there. Beautiful views to the oceanon the south, to the north, waterfalls and mountains.

Mountain beauty

This property is an oasis. There was fruit growing everywhere. The differences of plants and trees is like nothing we saw while in Costa Rica. Very memorable and our host was very helpful throughout the whole time we were there. FYI when they say you need 4x4 there are not joking around. We had a rental that had 4x4 and the road still made my stomach drop. Worth it if you can get to it.

I found my habitat! A divine private oasis.

The river and surrounding gardens are spectacular, including a pristine spring water source. My family loved going down to the river spontaneously for a plunge and relaxation on the warm smooth rocks. The home is a rare gem for the area because the kitchen and main patio gets early morning sunrise sunshine. It was divine to experience the combination of these things—sunrise, cold river water therapy, deep relaxation and fresh spring water! I felt so honored and grateful to the hosts for opening up their amazing property so generously.
