About Al Vroom

First discouvered this Paradise by sailboat in 2005. Anchored in the Bahia I had to make a phone call and the only phone at this time was in the Village of La Manzanilla.

Returned by road 2 years later., found some land and built my Dream Casa.

A real slice of paradise

  • 5 of 5

We had driven through La Manzanilla five years ago, and always wanted to return, as it is such a lovely, quiet Mexican town, with the bonus of being located on the beautiful Tenacatita Bay. And on our return visit, we were not disappointed, neither with the town, nor our choice of accommodation, the charming and romantic Casita en el Cielo!

For a couple, the casita has such a great studio layout. The elevated bedroom has a view of the ocean through the folding louvered doors that separate kitchen from patio. The patio is shady in the morning (great for a relaxing morning coffee and an invigorating dip in the pool), and sunny in the afternoon - and even great for stargazing at night!

The kitchen is well equipped, and we enjoyed several breakfasts in the kitchen, overlooking patio, plunge pool and jungle between our hillside hideaway and the beaches of Tenacatita Bay. Besides the kitchen and bedroom, the casita also has a hall/dressing area with abundant storage for all clothes, either hung or in drawers. The bathroom is also well laid out, with a step down into a big shower, with beautiful tiling, and a charming oval mermaid window to look out (without fear of someone looking back) while showering. If that's not enough, there's also access to an outdoor shower on the other side of the footbridge that crosses the infinity plunge pool.

The onsite property manager, Juani, was friendly, easily accessible at her downtown office or by phone, and very helpful.

My only caveats - it's a bit of a walk into town (10mins in, longer back due to uphill), and the casita would not be a good choice if you are mobility impared, as there are at least 20 steps to climb just to get from the entry gate to the level where the casita is located - but then that's why you have such a great view!

Believe it or not - the current pictures online do not do the property justice - it's even better in person! We were sad to have to leave.

A peaceful retreat

  • 4 of 5

We stayed at the casita for two weeks in January and loved the quiet of the area and the beautiful sunsets. The casita has everything you'll need for a great getaway including satellite T.V. and internet. The walk to the beach took approximately 15 minutes and the walk home was usually a bit slower because of the terrain. Juani manages the casita on behalf of the owner and she provide great customer service. She has an office in town so we could just stop by if we had a question. We love La Manzanilla and hope to be back there sometime in the future.

This casita on the hillside with its spectacular ocean view is ideal for a romantic getaway. Located in a quiet residential neighborhood, the tropical ambiance will have you mellowed out in no time. There is satellite television and high speed internet for those who like to stay in touch back home. The patio swimming pool right outside your door is perfect for aquasize and happy hour where you will dream up some plans for the evening. We stayed in great shape by taking the 10 or 15 minute walk to the beach every day where the ocean swimming is very safe but lots of fun in the waves. On high energy days I would run the wide flat 3 mile .beach from La Manzanilla to Boca de Iquana. Just a little bit of heaven on earth.

Relaxing, Charming Getaway

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at this casita last Christmas season, December/January 2013. The weather was spectacular. This casita is spacious with high cielings, lovely shower, full kitchen with all necessities. The house itself is about a 5-10 minute walk to the beach, a nice way to get some daily exercise. After a daily trip to the local beach, cafes, art galleries, shops, restaurants and bars, we relaxed in the refreshing pool, overlooking the entire bay. The views were un-beatable. The house is private and located on a great street with other nice houses. We left feeling relaxed and rejuvenated. I would stay there again.

Vacation In a Tropical Paradise

  • 5 of 5

It's hard to believe that the place you choose to spend your vacation can make such a difference but it did. First, I looked on-line for where I thought I would like to spend my vacation. I knew I didn't want a touristy town, with busy and confusing streets lined with hustlers. I wanted someplace safe and easy to get around; La Manzanilla seemed like a quaint and friendly pueblo off the beaten path.

Now, I had a destination but no real information on accomodations, the right area to stay, and the details that can make or break a vacation. Being a bit of a skeptic, I chose Villa Ciello because it was brand new, I knew at least it would be clean. It turned out to be alot more that. Simply put, I could never afford accommodations in this caliber elsewhere. This place was a desingers' work of art. The pride and joy that went into this property was unbelievable. It was well thought-out, and offered more than I had ever anticipated. It was well equipped with linens, kichen ware, and even had a BBQ. Everything I needed was there. The only words that came to my mind was'Grand'.

I was impressed and knew immediately I had lucked out when I rented the accommodation but there was something more. The owner of the property did more than any one could imagine; being helpful and gracious. I felt comfortable and well looked after. When I spoked with the owner I asked why he rented his place at such a low price and he said, "I am building a clientele, my place is brand new and does not have a returning business yet, but if I treat my guest right and offer value for the money, I will build a cliental soon." I knew right there and then, he was right and took no chances in booking my holiday for the next year.

As far as Las Manzanilla goes, it was everthing I was looking for. Friendly people, who actually loved the Gringo's visiting their town. There were great restaurants where the food was as good as it gets. Live music could be found most every night. And mingling with locals and experiencing there traditions were a real pleasure. Because the village is so small it was easy to meet other visitors too. Long lasting friendships were made. And, that for me, is what makes the memories of a perfect holiday. I will recommend this place to everyone.
