An oasis on the Bellavista hill!
My friends and I stayed eight days in Bart's property. From the first contact via email until our departure, the rental process was flawless and Bart super efficient, willing to help, professional, knowledgeable and a wonderful ambassador of Valparaíso. Bart helped us arrange airport transfers as well as a walking tour of Valparaíso and wine tour of Casablanca.
The apartment was clean and well appointed. We took advantage of the beautiful views from the numerous balconies. The kitchen was fully functional and although we did not cook, we did use the coffee maker and microwave. The bathrooms were clean and there were amenities in both for our use. The beds in the bedrooms were comfortable and there were plenty of extra blankets/comforters to use if we were cold at night. We did use the washing machine. It worked very well. Bart supplies numerous drying racks for guests' use.
We looked forward to going back "home" (to the apartment) at the end of each day. It really felt as if we were at home.
The city of Valparaíso is magical and our stay was made even more enjoyable with the help of Bart and our stay in his apartment. We hope to return one day!
Two notes: Bart recommends several restaurants. Take his advice! Also if you are a coffee drinker, a visit to Puro Café is a must. The lunch special is the way to go (thanks, Bart!) and they have several coffee bean options for purchase.
What a pleasure having Christine and friends at the Queen Mary Duplex Apartment! Friendly and forthcoming guests, seamless and fun communication, the hardest part is saying goodbye, but hope to host again soon! Safe travels!!

His space is in a terrific location, with amazing views from virtually every window. You are a quick walk to culture, food and grocery stores. I would recommend to anyone.

We had the pleasure and honour of staying in a beautiful home, up on the hill, in Valparaiso. The home had many windows and decks and offered spectacular views. It was easily accessible from downtown via the funnicular. The home was clean and spacious. It had many perks like a microwave, coffee machine, dishwasher and a laundry machine. It was a pleasure to meet the host, Bart. He is very personable and helpful. Thanks, Bart!

This apartment is both charming and stylish, with two outdoor decks that provide fantastic views of the city and waterfront. It has a warm and inviting wood interior yet is very bright and sunny. It also has a nicely laid out floor plan, and is in a super safe neighborhood.
Bart was one of the best hosts we've had the pleasure of meeting. He was very flexible with our check-in time, meeting us quite late on a Friday night. He provides a full visitor's guide in both English and Spanish prior to your visit, with recommendations on sites to see, restaurants, how to get around the city, and so on. He had a bottle of wine waiting for us on our arrival. He's also very involved in the community - and he shows great love of and pride in the city and its people. In fact, through his connections, he helped find us a private Casablanca valley wine tour that picked us up in Valpo and returned us to Santiago.
Our group numbered 6 people - we took the master suite on the top floor, our son took one bedroom with two twin beds, and our daughter & her two friends took the rooms that had the bunk beds & double bed. If you have a large group, this is definitely the apartment for you!

Bart is a wonderful host and was extremely responsive to our requests, both before we checked in and during our stay. The apartment has a stellar view of the harbor and is close to the Neruda house, La Sebastiana (definitely worth a visit!). The apartment also has amenities such as a washer, well stocked kitchen, and extra blankets. All in all, a very lovely stay in beautiful Valparaiso. We rented a car which was not needed; Ubers and buses can get you around Valpo very comfortably.
Note for travelers with arthritis or mobility issues, be aware there is a staircase to climb to reach the apartment, which Bart kindly clarifies on his property description. I have a bad knee and was able to do this without very much trouble, but be aware this part of Valpo is quite steep so one should use caution if you have physical restrictions.
