Kitchen was stocked well, furniture was very nice and the beds were comfortable. So many decks to sit on and enjoy the outdoors. We all loved the trail to the beach! It was just a short walk and was fun for the children to walk through the "forest". The house was clean when we arrived and was well maintained.

Wonderful and memorable wedding week

We stayed here with family for our daughter’s OBX wedding and absolutely loved it. The space was fantastic with privacy and plenty of room for everyone. We absolutely loved the little covered path to the beach too; we walked it many times throughout the week. We will definitely be back, especially with our daughter living in KDH now. Only downfall was a really late arrival (due to family emergency) and only one roll of TP in the whole house (3 bathrooms), so that was difficult to make work until we could make it to the store the next morning, but that being the worst thing, I would say it was a perfect stay! (Note to future renters: Bring your own bath towels/beach towels/washcloths/kitchen towels/sheets (4 queens, 4 twins and I think full size for sleeper sofa) (unless you rent them) and TP)

Wonderful Family Stay

House was just what we needed for 10 adults. Wonderful week spent exploring the area since it was our first time. Very convenient location to access Duck, KDH and Corolla. Thank you to Beach Realty for the easy check in!! Special thanks to the Southern Shores fire department for helping us out with a beach wheelchair free of charge to get my dad down to the beach. All in all it was a perfect vacation!!!

What a waste

Reviewer Comments: After driving for 13 hours, we arrived around 7pm, kids finally got to get out of the car to play basketball in the driveway,got a call we were being to loud. Sitting on the back deck, talking between 4 adults. Get another call were being to loud. This house is not for families as it seems everyone is expected to go to bed and make no noise after 8pm, not to mention the guy who kept watching the house as he walked by, like he was waiting for us to do something wrong to call the rental company on us. If your planning on being outside anytime at night time, this is not the house for you. The house is very nice, but the decks and everything outside is pointless as you can't use it after around 7pm.

This area is very congested but you sure dont feel that when you are at the house, surrounded with what I believe are live oak that are about as tall as the 2nd floor balcony. Makes for peaceful surroundings. You cant really see the ocean, but you can hear it. Multiple balconies, one was enormous. Like others have said, there wasnt a sharp knife or (usable) skillet. Watch the big boiler, it has a pin sized hole in it we found out. That all seemed minor to me as the place was neat and had so much room for the family. Simple but fitting decor. We spent a lot of time on the large balcony, very nice. The path to the beach is enclosed by the live oak, made the walk kind of cool especially for the kids. Though it was a very easy walk. At the beach here, the surf broke right on the beach and were pretty big so I was very cautious with little ones. I will say that we on the outskirts of a forming tropical storm so that may have played into it. Bring your own games, toys, etc. As there are none here. I didnt expect any but I know some places have them. You are close to duck boardwalk area but not close enough for a quick bike ride for us, ended up driving, that's ok. I would definitely recommend this house, very comfy, peaceful and convenient.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: This was an amazing vacation rental. It is very spacious throughout the entire house, and had updated bathrooms. Each room also came with it’s own tv. The main floor was perfect in every way. The kitchen came very well stocked and had a decent amount of counter space. We were pleasantly surprised when we found the couch in the room off the kitchen could fold out into a bed which allowed for an extra bedroom space. Along with that, the large table that was great for eating meals. There were many enjoyable outdoor areas where one could easily hear the ocean. It is also located in a great area with just a short walk to the beach.

Owners disregard guests safety

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was somewhat dirty. I was very happy with the location. I was satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: A few days in we detected a smell of gas in lower level. One evening it was very strong. Fire dept. made us evacuate and after inspection discovered two open cans of gasoline and a riding mower stored in unvented utility room under house. They removed the cans and vented room with fans, then closed it up. The next day the smell returned. Owners came up that night and moved the riding lawn mower. They did not believe the smell could have permeated the house and said they had stored gasoline in that room for years and it had never been a problem. So, did they think we made it up? We woke our sleeping baby and toddler at 11PM at night to evacuate for fun?? Gasoline is highly flammable and should be stored in a well ventilated place and NOT in a room under the house. They never said they were sorry for the problem. I would not be surprised if the day we left they put the lawn mower and gas cans back in the ventilated room, totally oblivious to the dangers of gasoline and it's fumes.

Three families shared the home, with plenty of space to enjoy between all the children and adults! Some furniture has been updated since display pictures were taken. The home is larger than it appears in the pictures as well, which was a great surprise! The home is well-maintained and clean. The "10 minute" walk to the beach is not even 10 minutes and is so completely charming! Neighborhood is quiet and peaceful. The kids were so excited about all the toys. Negatives: After originally booking through VRBO, we did not have a great experience with the rental agency until right before check-in; however that appears to be due to 2 employees, not the overall agency. Our only other complaint is that none of the mattresses were comfortable, but we would still stay here again!

great location

We had two families in the house: 6 kids ranging from age 7 to 17 and 4 adults. Fit our needs perfectly, easy walk to the beach. Well-appointed kitchen and good layout for multi-family gathering. Two suggestions: open up some pantry space for food storage and maybe have some beach chairs/umbrellas on site. It was exactly as advertised and we would surely stay again and recommend to others! Thank you for sharing your lovely beach home.

A Wonderful Experience

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was very happy with the location. I was satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: A delightful stay for 3 families with 8 children ages 1-8! Plenty of sleeping space, though the common area isn't very big (we had great beach weather so it wasn't an issue). The huge dining room table was wonderful, the couches were comfy, and the deck and big tables were SO useful. Linens were provided (for $), but you have to make the beds yourself. Furniture is old and clunky/ugly, but functional. Very clean house! Biggest pros - big open kitchen and dining, very cozy indoors with great outdoor space, lots of parking, and LOCATION! A safe, whimsical walk down a beautiful shaded path, cross the road, and you're at the beach. We had to be careful crossing the road with kids (just 2 lanes) but there is a clear crosswalk and drivers were courteous. Also VERY near to groceries and lots of other places. The backyard had toys, swings, and lots of space to play, and there were even toys in the main bedroom which the kids loved - we were very thankful! The biggest cons - stairs and more stairs. Be ready to haul things up multiple flights, with the kitchen/living/dining on the top floor. You also have stairs to get to the beach (over the dune). The kitchen had a crazy abundance of mugs and wine glasses (seriously... ~50 of each), but hardly a normal or even plastic drinking cup (besides the one provided in a little welcome gift). If kids are welcome, there should be more than margarita glasses. Due to the excessive # of those and SO MANY pots, pans, and baking dishes, there was only one very shallow empty cabinet for our food, meaning tons of things on counters and tables (nowhere else to put them!) making it cluttered and uncomfortable. At least 1 BIG cabinet should be empty for guests. There also weren't basic things provided like salt & pepper, dish soap, or kitchen towels...a weird combination of excess and lack. Perfect place for families with little ones!

Rating Details: The property manager was adequately helpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was very happy with the location. I was very satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Wasn’t expecting all the extra conveniences for our toddlers and infants. Toys in the closets, baby gate, higher chair, booster chair, basketball hoop with 2 basketball balls, and a playhouse with sand box stocked with toys in the backyard. It was such a great surprise and made our trip even that much more enjoyable. This place was above and beyond our expectations. The day after we got there we were already planning our next year’s vacation to stay there again. Private balcony in all the rooms (except for the kids room (SMART!), which had 2 sets of bunk beds!). Walking path to the beach was awesome and so convenient. About a 10 minute stroll but seemed way less. The floor plan and everything was so thoughtfully and intentionally created to be a great place for a big family. And they succeeded by far. Needless to say this place will be our home away from home every summer vacation for years to come.
