Welcome to Tybee Island! I am a proud native Savannah-ian! Savannah and Tybee Island have grown and changed a lot over the years, all for the better! When I was a kid, they called this Savannah Beach! When my mom was younger, they held dances on the pavilion, which has since burned and has now been replaced by the Tybee Pier and Pavilion. Savannah was established in 1733, so there is much history to be found in our beautiful downtown too! I am continuing the family tradition with my wife and two sons (8 and 17 months) by ensuring they enjoy the benefits of coastal living too. The photo of me and my son were taken on the Back River at Tybee.
Jimmy Edwards purchased this condo in 2004
We purchased this property as a second home and investment property in 2004. We began renting the Tybee Island Pelican Drive house last year (2013) with great success and have expanded that to both downstairs units this year. This house is used by our family, and we enjoy it quite a bit. I hope you enjoy it as much as we do.
The Pelican house is true Tybee living at its best. The house is backed by Chimney Creek, a tidal creek. The creek has six feet of water at high tide and goes completely dry at low tide, exhibiting the extreme tide changes that we experience at Tybee. You can fish and crab out of your back door or just enjoy the sun on the secluded floating dock. Out of the front door, you have the beautiful marsh and coastal winds 24 hours a day.
Very friendly owner and quick to respond to my texts. No hassles what so ever and you're close to anywhere you'd wanna go on the island. I would definitely stay again and I recommend this place.
Clean, unpretentious vacation home with everything we needed. Very responsive owner. Close to town, beach, restaurants and quiet at night. We really enjoyed our stay!
My boyfriend and I enjoyed a four night stay at this cozy condo and loved every second of it. We felt like we were home and everything that we needed was provided! I would book this condo again in future!
The place was a great space and location. The only thing that was bad was the bathroom. The toilet would bubble and make noises from when the others next door or upstairs used it. The toilet would bubble so much it spit out water and sometimes it was not clear water. We were afraid to use it and flush because it just wouldn't go down without plunging. Please fix your potty, otherwise it was good.
The house was clean and moderately equipped. My friends and me rented out the two cottages next door to each other. Between the 2, we had all of the items we needed for the kitchen such as kitchen towels, oven dishes and cutting boards. However, if we had not both been renting the 2 cottages side-by-side, each of us would have been missing some kitchen items. Would also be great if they could add tea kettles so there is a better way of heating up water. Other than that, the cottages in themselves are great and comfortable.
The location of the cottage means you have to drive everywhere or ride a bike across a stretch of Hwy 80 that has a very narrow shoulder. If you are looking for somewhere where you can ride your back everywhere, I would not recommend this location. If you plan on driving then its location is fine. (We had rented bikes, my friends and me, and while I did ride across the stretch of Hwy 80 with the narrow shoulders, I would not recommend it.) We really enjoyed the back dock area and watching the tides come in and out. The owners were easy to get ahold of and quick to remedy our needs for towels when they had forgotten to leave enough behind for us to use.
Overall, very happy with our stay at these cottages. We also enjoyed that we could be next to each other while having our own space. Beyond location, I would recommend these cottages as worth renting. (It was about a 20-25 minute bike ride to the south end from this house in case anyone is wondering.)
