RevĂȘtue de cĂšdre et baignĂ©e de soleil, cette retraite artistique Ă  8 faces invite les voyageurs Ă  renouer avec la nature. L'Octogone Ă  Climbing Vine Cottages est Ă  seulement 12 minutes du centre-ville d'Ithaca, mais un monde loin sur 16 acres de champs, de forĂȘts, de vergers et de jardins. L'Octogone peut accueillir 2 personnes sur un lit en mousse Ă  mĂ©moire de forme, confortable et dĂ©cadent. La cuisine est Ă©quipĂ©e de tous les Ă©lĂ©ments essentiels de base, y compris un petit rĂ©frigĂ©rateur, une plaque de cuisson Ă  induction et un four grille-pain ainsi que des fournitures et ustensiles de cuisine. DĂźnez en toute simplicitĂ© au comptoir de bar en noyer brillant donnant sur un champ de fleurs sauvages. Des produits de base sont fournis ainsi que du cafĂ© local primĂ© Gimme, du miel local, du thĂ© et de l'huile d'olive. Faites fondre le stress dans la baignoire sur pattes dotĂ©e d'un robinet victorien et d'une douche Ă  main sous la fenĂȘtre de la serre regorgeant de plantes d'intĂ©rieur. Les toilettes et le lavabo sont cachĂ©s pour plus d'intimitĂ© dans ce logement unique en son genre. Franchissez les portes vitrĂ©es coulissantes vers une pelouse privĂ©e et un jardin vivace pour pique-niquer, bronzer et observer les Ă©toiles.

Nos jardins sont resplendissants de fleurs, d'herbes, de fruits et lĂ©gumes dans les 2 vergers et les nombreux jardins. Les clients sont invitĂ©s Ă  profiter de la gĂ©nĂ©rositĂ© de notre rĂ©colte, y compris les Ɠufs au poulailler. Notre propriĂ©tĂ© borde une rĂ©serve naturelle particuliĂšrement rĂ©putĂ©e pour ses fleurs sauvages printaniĂšres et dotĂ©e de nombreuses cascades incroyables. Nous sommes Ă©galement Ă  seulement 5 minutes en voiture des parcs d'État de Treman et de Buttermilk Falls.

Nous avons accueilli des voyageurs pendant 10 ans dans notre yourte voisine (également répertoriée sur HomeAway et VRBO) et nous sommes impatients d'offrir l'Octogone à une paire de voyageurs à la recherche d'un répit paisible, d'une grande aventure et de vacances merveilleusement mémorables.

Ideal Spot for a Personal Retreat

The moment I spied the inviting bronze fox door knocker on the orange door, I knew Michelle has created a unique space in which to unwind & be. I loved the beautiful wood countertop, the warm octagonal ceiling, the vintage clawtooth tub, the life affirming greenhouse window, Matisse's "Joy of Life" on the wall, the colorful birds on the curtains, & the natural light that abounds through windows and/or doors on 6 sides of the Octagon. Thank you Michelle for sharing your creation--it's truly a work of art! BTW Should you decide to leave the Octagon & this tranquil property, there's plenty to do in nearby Ithaca.

Relaxing get away close to fun

The octagon cottage was perfect for a long weekend. It is very private and the wildflower loop was beautiful. Butterflies were in full force and gorgeous. We took a trip to Buttermilk Falls, less than 15 minutes away, and spent time in Ithaca at the Commons,. Odyssey Bookstore, and Mama Said Hand Pies. The rest of the time was spent relaxing at the cottage. It was a great way to recharge.

Escape to Natures Tranquillity

We loved this property so much! I loved the escape to nature and we felt like it was in the middle of nowhere, yet only 9 miles from Ithaca. I loved the walk through the wildflower, picked fruit from the trees, visiting the chickens for fresh eggs and frogs and fish in the pond. It would have been an amazing place for stargazing if there wouldn’t of been cloud cover, but the sound of the crickets while I was sleep was perfect. The claw foot tub was also a bonus for me! Felt great after all our hikes! I would definitely visit againâŁïžso quiet and no tv did it for me!

Peace and solitude, quiet.

I was greeted by the property manager when I arrived but otherwise was alone here for four days, visiting friends in town. Ithaca is only about 10 minutes away from this property, but one has a pleasant feeling of isolation here because of the thoughtful siting of the little house at the back of the property. The interior is clean and well tended. The air conditioning and fans worked well. There is a private picnic area outdoors with a grill and fire pit, and fireflies decorate the meadow at dusk. Really nice.

Perfect launchpad for exploring!

The octagon is a perfect place to stay to explore the entire Ithaca area. I hiked every day, went kayaking on Seneca Lake, and ate in downtown Ithaca every night. The place is so peaceful and relaxing. I enjoyed the clawfoot tub after my hikes too!

quiet getaway

Very unique octagon home. Nice dark sky for telescope viewing. Would love to come back in spring/summertime to see the gardens that are outside the sliding glass doors and walk the nature path to the waterfall. (It was pretty cold while we were there, and we were visiting family, so did not have time to enjoy the surrounding beauty. ) Bed was very comfortable, and we slept great!

Amazing

A quiet, relaxing escape!

My husband and I came up for Cornell homecoming. This place is just about 10 minutes from the commons, and was way easier to get to than I expected. True, there is but a curtain and small wall separating the toilet from the rest of the octagon. But that’s all part of the adventure! The place was clean, lovely, warm, quiet, and well-tended. Nature greeted us. Roosters called for us to awaken. We had total privacy but knew Melissa was just down the driveway if we needed anything. Perfect alternative to a stuffy hotel. 10/10, we plan to return!

The Magical Meadow

The property is beautiful and surrounded by a meadow of native plants and wildflowers. We normally stay in places without electricity or running water, so we were absolutely thrilled to walk into the octagon and discover actual air conditioning and a flush toilet! The octagon is adorably decorated but without any clutter and the windows, all look out into the meadow. We saw bunnies, heard the rooster crow, and ventured into the adjacent nature preserve to check out the waterfall. What a dreamy spot this is! Thank you so much for an amazing stay that far exceeded expectations.

Yurt Stay

A nice rural retreat near town - perhaps a bit overpriced for what it is

All was exactly as advertised. The host was responsive but away during our stay. We found it easily after dark, walked right in and felt relaxed to be settled in a low-frill rural retreat within easy reach of Ithaca and state parks. There are no amenities in the immediate vicinity. We had a flight cancellation that put us in town a day late. It would have been nice to receive some consideration for our lost night, since it took no more effort from the host, but they fell back on the excuse of vrbo policy. That left a less-pleasant taste than we would have wished for a sweet accommodation.

Beats staying downtown!

I had a training schedule on Cornell's campus the same day as the Grateful Dead concert so there weren't any rooms available at the hotels I typically stay at. The Octagon House was just a 15 minute drive from campus and was a little bit of paradise. As a single woman I was nervous when I first arrived because it is a very rural property and it was also raining so kind of creepy but when I woke up in the morning the sun was shining and it was glorious. I took 3 baths in the clawfoot tub. So relaxing. I'll definitely be staying here instead of the chain hotels in the future!

Fabulous relaxing retreat

My husband, our young Golden Retriever mix doggie and I so enjoyed staying at the Octagon for 4 nights. We walked in the nearby woods, ate breakfast at the picnic table and enjoyed the simple but well-appointed house. Loved the bathtub and the excellent bed! Michelle was very friendly and we appreciated the use of WD40 for our bike! We spent time in Ithaca hiking, biking and going to the amazing farmer's market and restaurants. Hope to be back again!
