Guestbook comments from the owner

“Wonderful wedding on the water!”

Reviewed 12 December 2011 This is the most fabulous house! We chose to hire the house from Mark and Kim for our "wedding weekend" in November. From the out set they were so helpful in arranging times for us to go and see the property so we could plan our weekend around the Windsor and Eton area.

From check in time to check out Mark and Kim were always on hand to help, advise and look after us. Being at the end of the phone if we needed anything at all.

Boathouse 19 itself is an absolutely stunning property in such a majestic location. I can imagine that everyone who visits just doesnt want to leave. It has all the quality of a 5 star hotel with the luxury of feeling that you are in your own home.

We arrived to a fully stocked fridge and larder, spotlessly clean house with everything in perfect working order.

We enjoyed lunch from the ingredients left for us overlooking the Thames and Windsor Castle from the deck at Boathouse 19 and then entertained our family the night before the wedding with a "Captains Cocktail Reception" on the Friday night. It was just perfect.

My family all then stayed here with me and we got ourselves ready for the main event on Saturday afternoon!

The absolute highlight was returning from church for a short comfort break before the reception to find that in the short time whilst we were gone, Mark and Kim had staged the house with little vases of flowers, copious tealights and candles, beautiful scents and had laid the deck like an outside lounge - it was just stunning! We watched our guests walk across Windsor Bridge to the reception and then joined them after a few pictures with Windsor Castle in the background!

We retuned after the party to a beauitiful wedding gift from Mark and Kim and then we woke up Sunday morning to the sound of the bells at St Georges Chapel and enjoyed fresh croissants from the bakery whilst we got packed up!

We all agreed that Boathouse 19 and the church ceremony itself were the most special and memorable parts of our very lovely weekend and that's saying something as the whole celebration from start to finissh was just incredibly perfect!

Mark and Kim are quite frankily the perfect hosts - thank you so much....

Luxury riverside house

  • 5 of 5

We have just returned from a stay at "Boathouse19"/"Rafts Cottage" and we cannot stop talking about how wonderful it was. We stay at rental properties all over the country and without doubt ,this has been one of our favourites!

The website description and photographs give comprehensive details of the property and surrounding area but on arrival , in reality it is even better !

The location is unbeatable ,a mere 45 minutes by direct train from central London ,then a 4 minute walk from the Windsor Riverside station and the property's position on the Eton side of the River Thames with magnificent views of Windsor Castle is breath-taking. Both Windsor and Eton are beautiful towns with a wide range of shops as well as a wealth of cultural places to visit/activities in the local area.We arrived by car and again ,this was straightforward with good access to a dedicated parking spot at the property, another bonus .

The fixtures and fittings/furniture were superb, very unique and quirky with a relaxed Moroccan theme and an interesting use of reclaimed materials ,such that the master bedroom suite had the feel of being on "The Titanic" itself!

The beds and linen/towels etc are all top quality and the provision of luxury toiletries a lovely touch. The lighting system, bathroom fittings and kitchen appliances were of a very high specification , all adding to the state of the art environment and making for a very pleasant stay.

We enjoyed excellent meals at the nearby "Cote Brasserie" and "Gilbeys."

The new owners ,Christine and Jason were very helpful and quick to respond to communications. Christine met us for a "guided tour' on arrival which was very helpful.

We have said that we can't wait to return one day soon.

Fabulous stay ...

  • 5 of 5

We had a fabulous stay at Boathouse 19 in Eton. Mark and Kim made us feel very welcome indeed, accommodating an early check-in after our long flight from Australia, which was very much appreciated. They readily accommodated a late addition for a couple of nights and even turned up before 6am to wish us bon voyage as we set off for the airport.

The location of the property is ideal, looking out over the Thames to Windsor Castle. Everything is within ready walking distance. We followed their advice on places to eat and can certainly recommend the bistro at the end of the road.

Mark and Kim had decorated the place so it felt nice and Christmassy.

All the facilities worked well and we didn't have any issues at all whilst we stayed at Boathouse 19. Beds were very comfortable, bathrooms nicely appointed and sitting areas spacious enough for 5 adults in comfort. We didn't once switch on the TV and didn't miss it at all. The windows replaced the TV with so much birdlife on the river, it kept us mesmerised for hours. We made great use of the board games and playing cards, which also kept us all entertained for hours.

We'd certainly return to Boathouse 19 if we found ourselves in the locale again.

Stunning Stay!

  • 5 of 5

Thanks Mark & Kim,

Wow, what a great way to start our 5 week trip to England. Coming from Colorado, we found Eton to be charming, but the Boathouse was simply a stunning place to stay. It is beautifully located right on the water, very close to all the amenities and attractions and a 2 minute walk to the station for a pleasant ride into London. Mark met us on the way to the house and got us settled in, explaining all the features and functionality the house offered. The kitchen was well stocked with a variety of premium quality goods to enable us to relax and get settled in without rushing out to the store. The house was very clean and featured fantastic modern conveniences including solid internet access. Our 8 year old boy, loved the house, but specifically the dock where he quickly made friends with the swans and ducks and enjoyed watching the boats from hammock.

Mark and Kim were extremely helpful and attentive to any questions we had about the area or the property itself. They were gracious enough to take us out for a trip up the Thames on their boat that is docked behind the house. All these little extras really spoiled us for the rest of our trip, and nothing else we stayed at compared to Boathouse 19. We are definitely looking forward to a return visit next year.

Thanks again!

A right royal treat

  • 5 of 5

We came from Spain and stayed a whole week with a 7-year-old child and had a great time.

The house is a gem and, what is more, the views from the house are sublime. From the house, you can almost see what Her Majesty is having for breakfast! Well, at the very least you know when she's in residence or not, simply by looking out of the windows of boathouse 19 at the round tower of Windsor castle.

The house is definitely de luxe and very clean. In addition, Kim and Mark (the hosts) make sure you have everything you need. Their welcome pack of top-notch food alllows you to chill as soon as you arrive. Mark even took us out on the Thames in his boat.

The house itself is full of the latest mod cons (Sky TV everywhere, Apple Mac with a huge screen, NEF appliances, etc) but is, at the same time, rustic with quirky features that make you stop and wonder. The Admiral's room certainly takes you back to the days when Brtiannia ruled the waves albeit with a huge bath, en-suite shower and other 21st century luxuries (Things that poor old Nelson would not have had).

Boathouse 19 is literally a stone's throw away from great pubs, restaurants and shops in Eaton and Windsor centre/castle is no more than five minutes' away on foot.

We didn't bother with London, since there was so much to do in the immediate area and one thing that struck us was how friendly the local people were.

Boathouse 19 is ideal for a family or a group of friends on a gastronomic tour of the area and with the house's superb location there is no need to hire a car.

I could go on but a review should be short and concise. I have no hesistation in recommending the house to anyone.
