The Albatross-Houseboat DT Knox

A unique houseboat on the Tennessee River in the heart of downtown Knoxville. 1/2 mile walk to Neyland stadium and UT campus. Docked at the wonderful Volunteer Marina with the most friendly staff and residents. The most peaceful and centrally located spot available in Knoxville.

All areas of the boat are available for guests to access.

Please reach out through the Air BNB app first. That is the quickest way to get a response to any questions.
Quiet Hours
Quiet hours are between 9pm - 8am EVERYDAY. If there are noise complaints or any violation of this rule, it may result in cancellation of booking and removal from property without refund and a penalty of $200 for the violation.

Be courteous to other dock residents. If you are too loud or rowdy, you will be asked to leave.

STRICT NO-PARTY POLICY
No parties or events/gatherings. If there is a party of any kind the police will be called and everyone will be removed from the property no refunds. No Unauthorized Guests are allowed at the unit, $100 fine per guest if discovered.

No Smoking
Smoking is prohibited without exception on this property. If any signs of smoking are found in the house, a fine of $300 will be imposed, no exceptions.

Pets
Pets ARE allowed depending on size or if they are service animals, max of 2 pets. We have pet fee. If you are bringing a pet(s), please let us know beforehand, otherwise there will be a fine of $100/pet if discovered, no exceptions.

Other things to Note;
- The boat does not leave the dock.
- No swimming around the boat or dock due to electrical shock hazard.

Super clean and felt very comfortable! Host was awesome to work with and would recommend everyone try this place out. Now my wife and I can say we have stayed on a houseboat!

What a cool location! The house boat was great, the vibe on the dock was mellow and fun. We only stayed one night but I would def book again if we’re in the area. We walked to dinner and had a lovely morning sunrise on the dock. Our kids loved the experience. Beds were comfortable and I loved the books in the space.

Everything was wonderful. Houseboat was clean, cozy and well appointed. I especially liked all the outdoor areas to sit and enjoy the views. Such a nice change from a typical hotel, it felt more like a mini-vacation being on the water. Neighbors were pleasant and courteous. Would love to stay again.

Good stay for our first trip on a house boat!1) it’s about a 0.4 mi walk from the parking area to the boat. There is a wagon on the boat if you needed to use it to help lessen trips. 2) it’s dog friendly, which is awesome! It is about 0.2mi to the closest grassy area from the boat. 3) there are lots of blankets and heaters, as well as, a portable AC unit. We also used blankets to block off areas which helped keep the main area cool for our dog. 4) Ants - weren’t a huge deal, but we had to make sure the food was kept off the counters so mainly into the fridge. They didn’t get into the trash. 5) Kids loved the bunk beds and the main bed was quite comfortable for us.

Great area, especially if you are into outdoors activities and visiting. Right next to the outdoor center where you can rent bikes and scooters. A little farther of a walk to downtown than I wanted. But all in all still doable and a great location.

Phenomenal houseboat! Very well maintained, super clean, comfortable and peaceful. Beautiful views of the Tennessee River. The owners were awesome and the marina crew were spot on. Great area of Knoxville as well. So thankful for available bikes and water sport stuff too (paddle boards, kayak, etc). The walk to the boat was easy especially given it was a marina! I have walked further from my parking spot to hotels in downtown Knoxville. The Albatross gets an A in my book.

The property was well described. It was clean and comfortable. It is a small space, perfect for three or four people. The bathroom is small but functional. It’s close to the Old City. Quite walkable. The host was awesome and quick to respond to all communications.

My wife and I traveled from Maryland to visit our son going to school at Tennessee. We had a great stay on the houseboat. It is very closer to downtown and the university. We loved the 2 tiered deck. The boat was clean and very much met our needs for a weekend stay. The host was very nice and communicated well. We would stay again.

There was no information on where to park and how far away the place was from where you had to park. Would have made a huge difference in planning what to bring and making arrangements for some means of assisting getting all your stuff to the boat. The check-in information was non-existent. I had to keep messaging the host. There were ants that got in my luggage and therefore in my car. Had to put ant poison in my car to get rid of them!

Had we known it was a 10-15 minute walk, one way to the boat, we would have looked elsewhere. It was very inconvenient to take a dog to a patch of grass. Other than that we were happy with how quiet it was.

We had a great time staying on the Albatross. It’s convenient to downtown and restaurants. An uber is a quick 5 min ride. The owner shares this: the walk to the boat is very very long with baggage. Park by the steakhouse. Use rolling carry on bags!The boat is older, but comfortable.

The albatross was a fun experience. I'm glad we tried it but probably won't be booking it again. The location is very convenient to anything downtown and easy to get to. The Greenway runs parallel to the pier and is a great place to walk, run, or bike.As mentioned, it was a long walk from the parking lot which wasn't really a problem if you knew to expect it. The mosquitoes on the boat seem to be more prolific than outside the boat. Understandable since it is on the water, just know that going on. The air conditioning worked okay. However, it did not really reach the main sleeping area and so the bedroom was about 10 warmer than the rest of the boat and very hard to keep cool.It was a pretty small accommodation which is understandable if you are expecting it. Overall the boat was clean but not exceedingly. Be sure to read all the instructions for the shower and flushing of the toilet and just know that it is a standing room-only space in the bathroom.

Overall, it was clean. Door knobs, pretty dirty and doors. It was hard to heat with one little bitty space heater. Can’t run heater and lots or coffee maker at the same time. We had to hang a blanket just to stay warm in the bedroom.

Such a lovely stay!! There is a binder with complete instructions from the property, and check-in was smooth. The place was clean, relaxing and such a cool experience.Like the other reviews mentioned parking is about a 15 minute walk, so maybe pack a rolling bag.

Hosts were responsive and inviting. Luckily I read the reviews and brought a wagon to carry belongings from parking to the houseboat. It’s a haul. Kept my 12 year old twin granddaughters busy with hiking, biking, shopping, turtle hunting, dinner cruise, relaxing and of course a day at Dollywood (1 hour drive). Great walkable location. River is too dirty to swim in though. Had a great time.
