Why Deborah chose Sonoma County

We meet in Sonoma, fell in love in Sonoma, and feel it is one of the most wonderful places to be. We purchased this as our first home together and would like to share it with others to enjoy and experience Sonoma as well.

What makes this cottage unique

You can relax in the back listening to the creek and birds with a chance to see the deer, squirrels and other wild life in the heart of Sonoma Valley without having to leave town or your glass.

Nice home for family vacation

  • 4 of 5

We enjoyed out stay at Sonoma Creek Cottage. The house was clean and rooms and contents as described. My husband and I stayed there with our two adult children. We're from the East Coast and this was our first trip to Sonoma county. This location worked out well for us - but you will definitely need access to a vehicle - not much within walking distance. We made trips to various parts of Sonoma County and did a day trip to each of San Francisco and Napa Valley too. We really enjoyed seeing gray whales migrating up the coast at Bodega Head and walking thru the redwood forest in Armstrong woods. We also really enjoyed the scenery as everything was green and the rolling hillsides nice to see as we drove around the region. We found lots of great places to eat in the many towns in the area. My son said his burger at Goose & Gander in St Helena (Napa area) was the best he'd ever eaten and at 22 and a recent college grad he has eaten many! We also really enjoyed the La Bamba taco truck for the couple times someone was hungry late at night - it is just a few blocks from the house near the intersection of Boyes Blvd and Highway 12. And of course we had fun at several wine tastings. My husband and I slept in the first floor bedroom and found it very quiet. Our kids did complain of car/traffic noise - especially early morning - from their rooms on the 2nd floor and street side of the house. The owner was very helpful. We exchanged emails a couple of times during the week we were there and she offered suggestions for trip routes, etc.

Owner's Response: Thank you for the great tips in the area that you enjoyed. I like the La Bamba truck too. They have some of the best El Pastor (little spicy which I like). I am so glad you were able to explore so much of Sonoma County and more. There is an elementary school a few blocks from the cottage and I would believe that may be the traffic you heard as you where here during the week. I have only noticed when the windows are cracked or open and will have the housekeeper check them since it can make a big difference. Thank you for staying here at the Sonoma Creek Cottage of Sonoma.

We really enjoyed the beautiful creekside setting, but found interior of the house dated.

  • 3 of 5

The creek made this place. The house itself could use some updating. The BBQ and coffee maker were functional, but again owner's may want to splurge for a new ones. We found everything to be clean when we arrived and the beds were comfy. It was also nice to have Netflix.

Owner's Response: Thank you for staying at the Sonoma Creek Cottage of Sonoma. We agree that a new BBQ is needed at this point and we have it in the plans to be replaced this summer. Unfortunately, they only last about 2 years since it is outside in the elements and the cover is not always put on. This last winter and spring have been exceptionally wet so we are waiting for rains to end before finding a new one so that it hopefully will last a bit longer. We do appreciate your feedback and apologize for any inconvenience it caused. Just to comment on the coffee maker, we have a very basic coffee maker so that it will be easy to use for all guests. We have had one with all the bells and whistle but had guests get frustrated with it also. I apologize that it did not meet your expectations. We also have some good coffee houses in Sonoma including the Barking Dog Cafe who roast their own beans and Sonoma Market who actually have great coffee too. We did just add before your stay an electric kettle for those who enjoy a nice hot cup of tea as well. Again thank you for staying with us at the Sonoma Creek Cottage. Happy Travels!

Peaceful and spacious!

  • 5 of 5

This house was exactly what I expected. Clean, spacious and perfect for a weekend away with the girls. The backyard was by far the best part about the whole house. I just wish we would have had more time to enjoy it! Debbie was great at communicating and super accommodating to some of our special requests. We will definitely be visiting again in the near future.

Great place to stay with kids

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at the property with a friend's family so altogether 4 adults and 3 kids (1 infant, 1 15 month old and a 3 year old). The place was clean, quiet and nicely equipped with everything a family(-ies) needed including some items for the little ones (booster seats, playpen, tub). The first floor bathroom was nice upgraded. The king size bed was pretty comfy but a little on the soft side. Our friends stayed upstairs which was nicely upgraded and they had some additional privacy. It was cold and rainy the entire time we were there so we didn't get to take advantage of the nice outdoor patios that backed to a creek/stream.

It's close to downtown Sonoma so lots of restaurant options and the grocery stores were close. The owner was very responsive when it came to questions. And it was very affordable. If we're back in Sonoma, we'll definitely consider staying here again. Highly recommend staying here.
