Why Edwin Peckens or Stacey Dye chose Bayshore

After several vacation trips up and down the Oregon coast

we decided this was the place for us. After 23 years in California ,we moved to the Oregon coast in 1995. We chose the small town of Waldport[pop 2025]Very friendly

people and great crabbing in the Bay.

What makes this house unique

At certain times of the year you can watch the migrating

whales right out in front of the house.

If you like Dungeness crab, you have excellent crabbing in Alsea Bay.

On clear nights the sky is filled with millions of stars with no city lights to spoil the view.

Perfectly located between Newport and Florence. With lots of great restaurants and shopping, Aquarium and bountiful amounts of beautiful beaches to explore.

Great Find

Beautiful home with a great location right on the beach. Perfect for a family vacation. Lots of beach toys for the kids, even a sled for riding the sand dunes! Kitchen is very well equipped, we used the BBQ every evening. It truly is a jewel by the sea.

The home was not clean and was not as described. Only 1 bed was comfortable. The sleeper sofa was broken and torn. Should be taken to the dump as it was that bad. The description of all the amenities couldn't be further from the truth. The furniture had stains, the stove oven did not get hot enough to cook our meal. The lower level had a bad odor and the bedspread in the smaller main floor bedroom had terrible stains on it from what looked like someone changed a diaper. We all need travelled a long way for a family of 7 get together but would not reccomend this place .Two of our group slept on the floor because of the broken sofa bed. There was what looked like newer paint in the home but the carpet certainly wasn't new as described. We did contact Stacy about this & she offered to have someone come & clean but we didn't feel comfortable leaving all of our things in the home while we were gone. This place needs a lot deferred maintenance. I think the owners need to come take a better look at it as it was absolutely not as described. It was close to the beach but bonfires are not permitted as they advertise and the sand dune they said was gone so the view was great was still there. Whoever took the picture took it closer to the beach and not from the deck. When I booked it the bad reviews were not on the sight. Only the descriptions of it. After we were there we looked on line at the reviews and they were the same as this review. Not a pleasant place to stay.😪

Owner's Response: I am mortified that anyone had such a terrible experience. It has been a busy summer - and I did get over to the house this past weekend (10/20/17) to check out the house for myself. 100% not as terrible as I was expecting per the review. That being said, everybody has their own perspective on cleanliness. I take a lot of pride in this home and being very tidy. Admittedly - there were a few things that needed addressing but certainly not to the dire extent of the review. No bad odor or stains, the couch does need to be replaced, the stove - I cooked a pizza in it with no problem or heating issues. Regardless...many things have been updated. New rugs, fresh new bedding's, mattresses, towels, deep clean, carpet cleaned, all well stocked with supplies, etc.... The sand has even been removed for a better view (again - that is something out of my control and always changing) All photos are now current from my recent visit. Hopefully - if you do read the review you will also look back at the many, many, many happy guests and returning guests that we have had. I would have been more than happy to have someone come in and take care of ANYTHING they were unsatisfied with or even a do-over stay. Our goal is for you to come away with an amazing and positive memory. Please also look at other beach properties - ours is humble but very clean and freshly decorated not a clumsy throw together rental with quirky and mismatched furniture. I hope anyone who reads the review can look beyond words and see that we truly care about this home - beach homes are a lot of maintenance and upkeep and sometimes we need a little reminder of that...from the owner stand point and the guest. Regardless - it is in tip top shape and ready you to stay.

Great location!

  • 4 of 5

We stayed over labor day weekend and I picked this house because of the pictures. My father had never seen the ocean and I wanted a house just steps away with beautiful views. I was disappointed when we arrived because the wind has blown the sand creating dunes which is not apparent in the pictures and in the description it said they had been removed. However that is no longer the case, updated pictures need to be put up. It is still just a short walk to the water and you can hear the ocean with the slider open and some windows have an ocean view. The house was spacious and adequately stocked with necessary items. My only other suggestion would be upgrading the room with the full bed to another queen. It would also be a good idea to have a FWD or AWD vehicle as getting into the driveway with the sand covering it can be tricky. During our stay there was a no burn ban so be sure to ask before lighting a fire on the beach. Otherwise it's a nice house, nice location and the owners are pleasant to work with.

Property is in dire need of upgrades.

  • 1 of 5

The location is great and the house is a nice size, however it is in dire need of some up keep. Needs new mattress in second bedroom, and in sleeper couch downstairs. Door knobs stick on front door and door knob to garage wouldn't open so we were locked out of the garage, our boat was locked in the garage (no garage door opener). Kites but no string, crab pots but bait cages need repair. Kitchen utentiels need upgrading some were melted. Kitchen cabinets were sticky and dirty. Not enough kitchen towels. No DVDs as stated. Pool is available for $8.00 a day per person. Deck is in need of repair. Deck furniture is rusty and needs to be replaced. Lanterns but no batteries. Bring your own shampoo etc., none is provided. Coffee maker worked one day then stopped working. We have stayed at other homes and payed less and they were a lot nicer in the same area. We will not be staying there again. Would be a really nice place if they took better care of it.

Truly a jewel by the sea

  • 5 of 5

Our oldest daughter came from England with her hubby and twin 14 year old boys. We all had a terrific time. The house was so nice, comfy, and welcoming. We stayed three nights and wished for more. The kitchen had so many do dads and cooking stuff it was fun. BUT no cookie sheet!

There are a few item that should be addressed: 1) Updated photos would be nice, as sand and dunes have coved the lowed deck stairs and the view is mostly sand dunes. 2) The small bedroom really needs a new mattress. 3) Hide a bed in down stairs room, the frame is broken so we were not able to us. Also, your website makes it look like two rooms down stairs and in reality only one. 4) The deck chairs and table are totally rusted out and should be hauled away. 2 new chairs were a nice addition.

We understand you cannot control sand and wind, just too bad I walked in ready for a beach view. I am 72 and was not able to get to the beach. :-)

Still - after worked out the kinks we had a marvelous time and would go back in a heartbeat, even with few kinks.

Owner's Response: Thank you for the kind and positive words and please know - all the items you listed have all been very recently addressed...even the sand dunes are being moved. October is when we are allowed to move sand to enhance the view but the house does sit up higher than most giving it a lovely view as you can see in the current pic's (even pre sand removal). Stacey

Great family place with fabulous views of the ocean and bay from multiple spots in the house!

  • 5 of 5

Our family of four stayed for the 4th of July week and could not have had a better time. The set up for our family with the kids having their own space downstairs and us being upstairs. The views were fabulous from everywhere in the house. Being able to see the bay and ocean at the same time was great. Great view of the ocean from the kitchen. We could see the Waldport fireworks perfectly from the house. We enjoyed walking to the beach and being able to come right back if needed. We enjoyed biking around the neighborhood as well. Easy drives to Yachats, Florence and Newport. There are lots of sand toys and other things at the house to use including kites, puzzles, crab pots, and books. Overall we got very comfortable in the house during our week stay and have no complaints!
