When my now-husband and I decided to get married at my parents house in NE CT, we hoped to find somewhere special - and close-by - to host us and our wedding party. We couldn't have asked for a better spot. It was 7 min from my parents' home, 7 minutes from the Southbridge Hotel and Conference Center (where the rest of our guests would stay). We were able to host a welcome reception (casual rehearsal dinner) on Friday evening for an extra fee, and our friends/family all complimented the house/property. The staff was helpful but also hands off. There were a few maintenance issues (sediment in water, broken oven and burners, a wobbly bed, and some in-progress yard projects that were a bit unsightly) but given the general cleanliness and overall upkeep of this large property, we couldn't consider these big problems. Overall, we had a wonderful few days at the house and would definitely recommend it for others!
I just wanted to take the time to THANK YOU for allowing us to use your absolutely beautiful property for our wedding. We can’t thank you enough for helping to make our important day a very special one! We will never forget it! We are so glad that we found your estate and it was exactly as it was described – and more! We are still receiving the most wonderful comments from our guests! From the moment we had our first conversation with the manager, we knew this would be the right place for us. She was so helpful, and detail oriented, and answered any and all questions that we had. We appreciated that she spent so much time with us going over every detail and helped everything go so smoothly. And we can’t say enough about the property! We have never come across such a stunning property. The grounds were immaculate and well maintained. The flowers and trees were georgous! We loved having an outdoor wedding and were able to take amazing photos by the pond, pool, and in front of the many beautiful flowers. My family stayed overnight (there were 15 of us) and we found the house to be well maintained as well. Each room was beautifully decorated and it truly felt like home. We wanted a laid back, country feel and this is exactly what it was. The bedrooms were nice as well and the beds were very comfortable. My mother in law is a gourmet cook and LOVED the kitchen! We had some wonderful meals there. THANK YOU again for everything. Thank you to your staff as well. They were available to help with answering all our questions. We will definitely be returning. And I am sure some of our guests who attended the wedding will too!
We rented the entire house for one night - about 12 of us - and loved it. The house was simply fabulous and we really loved it all! The kitchen was definitely a focal point for us to gather around. The house was spotless and clean and well maintained. There are many rules to follow but all in order to take great care of the loved house. Thanks!
This rental was amazing. The first thing you notice is the humongous yard, pond, pool, fire pit, and it is completely surrounded by wilderness. Just the property and it's location alone are worth staying at this house. The house itself is beautiful, inside and out. Six bedrooms, four bathrooms, sleeps 12 on beds, but there is plenty of room for many more. You could put a dozen kids on air mattresses, and sleep over 24. Excellent for a family get together or reunions. Great location for a vacation away from the city. I was pleasantly surprised with all of the subtle accommodations. Chocolates when you arrive getting you in every room, paper goods stocked, outdoor necessities like bug spray available, plenty of linens. I honestly would have been able to drive there with nothing, and survived for a week. There were new drinks and food, laundry ready to go, firewood stocked, grill ready to go, unbelievable sound system throught the house and back yard. Don't get me wrong... You have to bring all of your own stuff, but it was amazing to me how had I forgot something it was available. I was extremely happy with this rental. Thank you!!
We rented five bedrooms at the Heart of Gold Inn along with two other families. There were six adults and five kids. Everyone had an absolutely wonderful time. The rooms/bathrooms were absolutely lovely, the kitchen spacious and well-stocked with pots/pans/amenties, and the two fireplaces (one gas, one wood) provided the perfect ambiance. Our hostesses/hosts were friendly and so helpful. We will definitely be back! Thank you again for a lovely stay.
We are so glad we found this place! I must say that this place was more than what we hoped for!! My husband and 3 children and in-laws stayed in this amazing home. We were a little nervous having never used VRBO before but as soon as we arrived, we knew it was the perfect place for us.
As we were driving to the home, we noticed that is was a very quiet, peaceful ride through the country. As we pulled into the driveway, we received a warm greeting from the housekeeper. She welcomed us and gave us a tour of the home. As we entered the home, the first thing we noticed was how immaculate, spacious, and how wonderfully decorated it was! The huge kitchen was very clean and fully equipped. I love to cook and knew that it would be perfect for family meals. We made breakfast every morning and ate on the dining room table. From there we had a wonderful view of the back yard with patio, rock wall, beautiful landscaping. It was very peaceful. The living area had a comfortable sofa and a fantastic flat screen TV, DVD and working fireplace. Actually there were 2 living rooms, one with a beautiful wooden bar stocked with glasswear. My husband had to work on his laptop during our stay and was so happy that we had wifi.
We wanted a place that the kids could also hang out and feel at home, which it definitely was. It was very kid friendly! The kids were super happy. They also provided us toys for the kids to play with (volleyball net, balls, games, bicycles etc.).
Not only was the place great but so was the host! Definitely 5-star service. She was so helpful, responsive, and friendly. She answered all our questions and everything went smoothly. She was like our personal concierge as she recommended places to see, visit, shop and eat. We were very last minute guests but she made sure that we would have nothing to worry about and informed us of all the details that we needed. She even called several times to check on us and make sure we were comfortable. The housekeeper was also there to help with any questions we had.
There is nothing bad that I can say about our stay here other than we hated to leave! I highly recommend this place to anyone. My sister is getting married next year and I think it would be a great place to have her wedding!
I can go on and on about this place but in a nutshell, WOW!!
Thank you so much for letting us stay here! We will definitely be back!!

This is a beautiful immaculately kept country estate. Please we ask that you take care of this home when you come as if it is your own home. We would be much appreciative.
