PARADISIELLO, a charming home at the end of a road in Great Cruz Bay. Furnished in an eclectic style, the atmosphere is warm, comfortable and inviting. This delightful masonry gem has the feeling of the island's traditional lifestyle...'It's all about relaxing, beaches and sun.'

The large pool, with spacious decks, provides a perfect vantage point to enjoy the fabulous views of Great Cruz Bay Harbor, across the Pillsbury Sound to St. Thomas, on to other islands and Cays and the endless summer sunsets!

Paradisiello offers 3 bedrooms, each with it's own, private, full bath. The galley style kichen makes cooking a quick and easy task while still enjoying the living room conversations.

Just a few steps down the garden path is a spacious, native stone Outdoor Shower (see picture on the additional photo page). When was the last time you took a shower by moonlight?

For the botanically interested, there are native plantings, banana trees and others.

A worthwhile note about this home is it's easy access. With no stairs to climb and just a short walk to the door, loading and unloading your baggage and groceries is a snap.

Great Villa/Home

  • 5 of 5

Just got back from our week long stay at Paradisiello. The layout is very smart/open and the decor is tasteful. I agree with a previous review that there's a little bit of age on the home. But overall the property remains very charming, clean, and comfortable.

We kept all windows/doors closed the entire time to keep the mosquitos out and the aircon in. The house seals up very well with only 2 or 3 sneaking in each day (likely when we were passing through the doors). We also kept all food in the fridge after reading past reviews about ants. We did see them when food was occasionally forgotten on the counter. However, they are tiny very non-intimidating ants.

The pool is over 7' deep so it's not good for children learning how to swim who need support from a parent. However, our 1.5 year old did enjoy walking around the little shallow area. The home actually happens to be located a 10 minute walk from the Westin (look for the sign for Westin's Lemongrass restaurant). There is no security preventing anyone from using their pool so we spent a couple afternoons there.

Although the northern beaches are all a 20m drive away, having 2 good supermarkets less than 5m away ended up being more important/convenient for us. We could make quick runs for anything we needed or had a sudden craving for. Tip: Tripadvisor forums advise to do a grocery run upon arrival in St Thomas. Don't bother. We did and ultimately discovered that we could get everything we needed in St John at comparable prices.

The only thing I didn't like about Paradisiello is that the rental was not brokered through VRBO/Airbnb. Mark (the property manager) ended up being legit of course. However, I was quite nervous providing relatively big checks directly to the owner with no larger corporation and credit card providing some assurance. I would actually be happy to pay the 5 to 10% premium for that protection and piece of mind.

Great View and Location

  • 4 of 5

My family of five just had a nice week at Paradisiello. The villa has everything you need - a great view, a location close to town and beaches, a pool, and pleasant furnishings. The kitchen was well stocked, and we had use of beach supplies such as chairs, towels, coolers, and floats. Even though the villa has neighbors on both sides, with the way it is positioned it feels very private. We did hear loud music outside on a couple of the nights, but we could not hear it once we turned the AC on in the bedrooms.

I would not call this a luxury villa, as the place is definitely showing its age (cracked walls and walkways, chipping paint, older/stained white refrigerator, etc). It does have some nice updates such as granite countertops and a stainless range. The beds were comfortable and the bathrooms were clean. The property manager Mark and his assistant Trista were very attentive and helpful.

Overall I think this villa is a good value. The issues we had were small. As one reviewer noted, there are ants in the kitchen. This became apparent on the third day, and we had to put our snacks/cereal into the fridge or in ziploc bags. Also, it seemed that the mosquitos were getting into the villa, especially at night. I suspect this was because a couple of the window screen frames were not tightly fitted to the windows. Once we realized this, we kept those particular windows closed and it did seem to improve. The sliding patio doors, although new looking, were finicky to lock. One of them was installed incorrectly and does not lock securely. One toilet was slow to flush. These were the types of issues we encountered... but all in all a nice villa. The sunset view was fantastic, my kids enjoyed the pool, and we liked being 5 minutes from the restaurants and shops in Cruz Bay.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your review of your stay at Villa Paradisiello in March/17 . We are addressing the front sliding windows issue leading out to the pool patio and are aware of the problem with the windows lining up with the tracks . We recently replaced about half of all the screened in windows in the villa with new screens. We have an exterminator visit Paradisiello once a month . It is ant season at certain times of the year and we usually have a can of ant spray under the sink to help with this problem if there are ants . I have been living on St. John 37 years and I have ants from time to time in my kitchen and patio . The villa is not advertised as a luxury villa and the rate reflects that , as it was originally built in 1979 and added onto in the 2000's , However as the guests stated it has a great location with lovely ocean and sunset views, A large pool with comfortable outside furniture , ample decks and assured privacy , yet 7 min from Cruz Bay. All 3 of the bedrooms 2 queens and a king mattresses were replaced May 2006. In closing we are happy to hear you did enjoy your stay at Paradisiello and we strive to stay on top of issues at the villa which are usually minor . Thank you . The Management

Great view but the other issues spoiled it

  • 2 of 5

Great view BUT it started with the property manager picking us up in a small pick up with stuff in the back. No central air and the window units are noisy but that was better than listening to the partiers next door or the barking dogs on the other side. The tiles around the pool are very slippery when wet and I nearly went down a couple of times. The screen doors dont close properly so there were always mosquitoes inside. The window in one bedroom didnt close and there was no screen on it. The master bath was very tired and the grout had mould on it. It has a terrible ant problem, drop one crumb and there would be a 100 ants on it in an instant. We had to put everything in the fridge. The proprty manager dropped off 2 ant traps which take at least four days so they were useless to us. There are dozens of wasp nests under the eves and one of our guests was stung.

Later I realized this issue has been around for a while when I saw the cans of wasp and ant killer. The pool doesnt have a shallow end and isnt heated it may be the USVIs but the pool was colder than the sea, not enjoyable to stay in for long. There were two pots, odds and sods of cutlery and two coffee mugs. Just a heads up to those who might want to rent it, beware. A lot of money for a lot of hassle.

Owner's Response: I am the manager for Villa Paradisillo on St. John . I have been managing rental villas on St. John since 1985 . I would liek to address some of the complaints form this guest . First I met these guests at the Cruz Bay dock in my 2008 Toyota Tacoma pick up( hardly a small truck. ) If I remember correctly I had a milk crate in the bed . should not have been an issue so contrite . We receive a call that there were ants in the kitchen. We brought over some any poison and some any spray which should have alleviated this problem in one day. The OUTSIDE wasp nests were destroyed when we were made aware of it and there were not dozens as stated. These nest can appear in a day or 2 but were dealt with. The front door needed a new door closer bracket and we addressed that. We also are replacing the screens throughout the villa. Although none were ripped they need replacement and that is being addressed . Most villa pools here are not heated and a cooler in the winter . This one has us dumbfounded . There is ample dishes , coffee cups and cultery and cookware at Paradisiello . Cannot figure out why they could not find it? Lastly complaints about barking dogs and other people in the area making noise we have no control over and this is a vacation destination and some people come and let their hair down . It sounds to us like this guest that wrote this negative review had an ax to grind for some reason with some false and exaggerated claims . MS

Oh that view!

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed every minute at Paradisiello! Our family came down for a week to celebrate our anniversary. The view was just amazing, and even when we were inside, we were still gazing out at the water, sky and mountains. The pool was pristine and there were plenty of unique tropical plants around the property. The outdoor shower was a really nice touch - tucked away in the tropical plants to freshen up after a day at the beach. No need to bring beach towels, we were provided with plenty. The kitchen was well stocked too. Super convenient to town, yet nice and quiet, which was a perfect combination for us. Before leaving us, Mark took a few minutes to point out places to eat, beaches to visit and places to shop on the map, which was really helpful in getting us prepared for a week of adventure and natural beauty. Can't wait to come back one day!

Great Cruz Bay Killer Views

  • 5 of 5

Enjoyed our family vacation at this lovely property with its spectacular views of Great Cruz Bay. The actual property was as beautiful as the pictures on the site. Well equipped home and spent days snorkeling all over the island and our young adult children enjoyed spending evenings in town and in the 7 foot deep pool. Very close to grocery stores and minutes to town, the location was ideal.

The 3 bedrooms with en suite bathrooms makes this ideal to share with 3 couples or a family of 5-6.

Mark and Seaview were great and would gladly stay again.

A Villa with a View

  • 5 of 5

My three girlfriends and I spent a week at Villa Paradisiello. The 3 bed, 3 bath overlooks Cruz Bay, and the highlight is the gorgeous view from the pool and patio area. The pool is unique and it is entirely deep with a ladder to get in/out. We spent our days away from the villa exploring St. John and other islands, and we couldn't wait to get back to our villa every night for sunset! We loved taking a dip in the pool while watching the sunset and the sailboats. It felt as though time was standing still, which I loved since I was celebrating a big birthday! The villa was very comfortable with nice decor throughout, and there were ceiling fans in each room in addition to air conditioning. Also, there is a galley type kitchen, TV, iPod docking station/speakers, dishwasher, washer/dryer, outdoor shower, bath and beach towels, beach chairs and a cooler. You will need a car to stay here, and you can park right in front of the villa. You are not far from the Westin, a grocery store and the ferry terminal, but it would be difficult to walk to these places due to steep hills and no sidewalks. We loved our stay at the villa, and would definitely recommend to everyone for a relaxing stay in paradise!
