Boathouse living offers beautiful panoramic views of the lake from every side.
Enjoy peaceful nights as you listen to the soothing sound of the water/loons in our upper scale boathouse, built directly on the water of popular Skeleton Lake. Known as 'Muskoka's Best Kept Secret', in the heart of Muskoka, Skeleton Lake offers sandy swimming coves, great fishing, water sports, hiking and warm summer sunsets.
Our beautiful custom built boathouse is very cozily decorated with antiques, has an open concept living room with queen size pull out sofa, dining room and fully equipped kitchen (incl. dishwasher/microwave). There is also a flat screen/satellite TV. A separate bedroom offers a gorgeous view of the lake while lying in bed. There are lower docks for swimming as well as a large upper deck including several Muskoka chairs for sun tanning and BBQ for your outdoor cooking. There are two kayaks and a paddle boat to enjoy your travels around the little islands that are seen from the boathouse. There is also a boat slip available. A boat launch is only one bay away!
Skeleton Lake is 10 minutes from Diamond in the Ruff Golf Course, as well as a 18-20 minute scenic ride to the villages/towns of Port Carling, Rosseau, Bracebridge and Hunstville where you can enjoy exploring all of the quaint shops and summer time markets. (Bracebridge's popular Santa's Village is a 25 min. drive away).
Please note that seasonal rentals both spring and fall are a minimum of 3 nights. Boathouse is set up for one adult couple and two children under the age of 12. There is an additional charge of 50.00 per person per night for two adult couples. Maximum number of people is 4. We are open from the Canadian May long weekend until Canadian Thanks giving. We are closed in the winter months.
We enjoyed a sublime week this June and highly recommend this lovely boathouse. It was Brian's first trip to Muskoka, and he got the full experience.....crystal clear, sparkling lake waters, loons calling, fish jumping, canoes paddling by, coffee on the deck and kayak trips to peacefully explore the islands and gorgeous Muskoka vista right out your front door. The boathouse was spotlessly clean, tastefully decorated, very comfortable for two, and cozy during an evening summer storm, as it made a spellbinding journey across the lake.
Our hosts were kind, attentive to every detail and extremely accommodating..... as we took in a late night concert at the Bala Kee, (very fun!) .... there was a flashlight at the hilltop to help us navigate our 2am journey without falling into the lake....:).
One of many thoughtful touches for this charming , romantic, spot!
Thank you for this sublime Canadian experience and sharing your lovely paradise!
This boathouse has become our favourite place for a relaxing getaway retreat -- we were there in the springtime and couldn't wait to return this fall. The boathouse is absolutely beautiful both indoors and outdoors. The house is on a lake with crystal clear water surrounded by gorgeous views of the lake and islands. The inside is beautifully decorated, well equipped, bright and clean. We enjoyed coffee and breakfasts on the porch, long afternoons reading in the Muskoka chairs on the dock and exploring the lake by kayak, sunset dinners on the upper deck, and gazing at the sky full of stars at night. The owner has great attention to detail and is very responsive. We can't wait to return to this lovely and peaceful place again!
This boathouse cottage rental was everything we expected and more. It's location is perfect because its 180 degree view of the lake let's you see the sunrise and the sunset. It is beautifully decorated with antique style furniture and the kitchen had everything we needed. We loved hearing the loons at various times, watching the blue herons, ducks, geese and cormoronts, the fishing was good right from the dock, the muskoka chairs were numerous and comfortable and there are two excellent quality kayaks for going to the local islands. We did not use the canoe or peddle boat but they were available. This cottage is perfect for a couple or even a couple with one or two small children who would not mind a pullout bed. We initially thought the issue of not having a stove would be a concern (it's not allowed due to regulations for boathouses) but there was no problem at all. The high end barbecue had a side burner and there is a hot plate and microwave in the cottage so no worries. It's fairly convenient to Huntsville and other local towns. We would definitely rent here again!
Great owner, very prompt in correspondence. Her driving directions were also very clear, since GPS won't guide you down a private road! Cottage was very clean, tastefully decorated, fully stocked with everything we could need, and in a great location! Beautiful spot, highly recommended for a couple looking for some peace and relaxation! An excellent honeymoon destination. About 20-30 mins to both Huntsville and Bracebridge for groceries, shopping, and sightseeing. The road in is a typical gravel cottage road - confidence is recommended for city drivers, but it's worth it when you see the gorgeous views!
