We take pride in the condition and quality of this property. We are intentionally positioned as a premium property, largely because we live in it a significant portion of the year. We keep our headcount limits low in order to ensure your comfort. There are plenty of small, cramped houses that will pack in renters like sardines. That is not our business model. We serve those that value their vacation time and wish to spend it in quality and comfort.
Limit of: 9 guests total with no more than 7 adults, or: 8 adults with no children. No exceptions, children count regardless of age. This is strictly enforced. Violation WILL result in eviction.
4 bedrooms, 2.5 baths plus outdoor enclosed shower. Spacious 2075 square foot open floor plan with 2nd floor loft/parlor overlooking living room. Huge windows with bay views everywhere in the soaring 18 foot high living room. Well equipped kitchen has everything. Large laundry room with washer/dryer and sink. Free wifi internet & 4 large flat screen TVs with DirecTV DVRs. Huge bay-front deck with covered and open areas. Covered deck on south side has view to Gulf beach. Plenty of chairs and lounges on the decks along with a gas grill and picnic table.
Pier with 2 story dock / sundeck. Private sandy beach with the best location on the bay side. This is the last house on the street and there is a long stretch of beach to the east that has no docks and very few people. Bring your boat. Bring fishing gear - dock has tons of mounted rod holders, lights, electricity, and running water. You are not just renting a house – you are renting this pier, too, and you will be glad you did. Enclosed outdoor shower under house. Covered concrete parking pad under house. This is the Pet-friendliest place you will find - lowest pet rate, highest pet limit on the island. Crates and dog beds supplied. Sundeck has latched gate to contain dogs. Get the dogs out on the beach right out your back door.
The bay side is a great place to be. The Gulf beach is just a short walk, but here you have your own wide, sandy bay beach right out the back door. And with this house you have your own dock, too. Even if you don't have a boat, the dock is great to fish from or just relax on. You will spend more time outdoors when you have a dock, and that's why you're here. We also have full DirecTV with DVR on each TV. That means hundreds of channels, on-demand, programs saved on the DVRs, plus Sirius and Pandora Radio built into each TV.
Bedrooms: 2 Kings, 1 Full, 2 Twin, Futon. All bedrooms have ceiling fans and light-blocking window treatments with black-out backing. You will not be woken by unwanted sunlight at the crack of dawn.
The Master bedroom is on the main level and has a King bed, TV, double vanities and full private bath along with a sliding door to the sundeck.
Also on the main level is a smaller bedroom with a Full sized bed and a private walk-out to the Gulf-facing deck. There is half bath next door to this bedroom.
Upstairs is a huge loft/parlor area that overlooks the entire open-floor plan downstairs and has great water views to the bay and sound. This area has a 50 inch TV, 2 couches and a game table.
Also upstairs are two bedrooms and a full bath with tub/shower. One bedroom has a king bed and TV. The other has a pair of twin beds. Both have walk-in closets and water views to the bay.
Turnover Day is typically Saturday: The vast majority of rentals on this island are weekly with check-in/check-out on Saturdays. In order to avoid interruption of the norm (and turning our calendar into a jigsaw puzzle), we may choose not to accept short stays or reservations that don't begin or end on a Saturday.
Pet Friendly - dog fee only $10/night per dog. (Snowbird pet fee $100/per pet) No stated dog limit, but owner must review if more than 2. Pets may reduce the number of people allowed. Contact us for details.

We've been coming to Dauphin Island since moving to Alabama in 2001. We've always found it somewhat difficult to travel with our dog pack, so we finally bought this place so they can come with us and enjoy the beach. We run an animal rescue organization in Birmingham. Visit at FCDF.org.
Ron purchased this House in 2013
Why Ron chose Dauphin Island
Dauphin Island has the Gulf of Mexico on the south side and just a couple hundred yards away is the Mississippi Sound / Intercoastal Waterway on the north side. Dauphin Island is also a uniquely dog-friendly place, unlike anywhere else. There are very few places like Dauphin Island. If you're looking for a 'shopping mall by the sea', look elsewhere. There's no shortage of beach towns that have turned into neon lights, franchise food, and upscale mall stores by the ocean. We have none of that here. No Pizza Hut. No Tommy Hilfiger store. Just uncrowded beaches and throwback style restaurants. Come to get away.
What makes this House unique
You are renting a dock with this house. We cannot overstate what that adds to your stay. The Gulf beach is great, but having your own dock on the bay beach is a completely different experience. It’s like having a little cabin right on the water. Out the back door is the beach on the Mississippi Sound (aka, the bay). This beach is great for swimming, fishing and walking. We are the last house on the street and there is a long stretch of open beach to the east of us that is usually empty. The fishing is great here. You can wade out a couple hundred yards from shore and have all the space in the world to cast. Or fish right from the dock. Out the front door is a view to the Gulf of Mexico. There is now a free parking area across Bienville Drive just a few doors down (at Sehoy Dr.), which is convenient if you are hauling a bunch of gear. The Gulf beach is close by and really great, but the best thing about this house is having the private bay beach with the dock right in the back yard.

Lovely house and location
We loved our week on Dauphin Island at Fish Bones. It was conveniently close to the gulf out the front, but we could also pull back and enjoy the calming effect of the bay right out the back door. The house fit our needs perfectly, especially with 2 dogs along. The house had everything we needed for a fun relaxing week on the beach.
Thanks for the review, Kelly. And now that you've stayed with us we'll put you in the "good repeat guest club" and make sure to discount you next time.
Cozy and inviting Fish Tales is the place to stay at Dauphin Island! My Husband, our fur baby and I enjoyed our mini vacation relaxing on the pier and deck while viewing Blue Herring, pelicans, gulls, terns, and other wildlife. We have stayed in many vacation rentals, but this one has all you need with the comforts and decor of home.
Fish Bones - Great Vacation Home!
Our family has vacationed for many years on Dauphin Island but this was our first stay at Fish Bones. This is one of our favorite beach houses that we’ve rented to date! Ron was very pleasant to deal with, check in and check out were very simple, the entire home (rooms, beds, furniture, deck) is very comfortable and inviting, and to agree with other reviewers - the artwork all over the house is truly sensational. Lots of games are available and the TV is a nice size for watching a movie or hooking up a game system for those with teens! Taking your dog with you will be a breeze because they have everything you could think of from pet beds to dishes and even crates. Our hesitation at being on the bay side was quickly eliminated the moment we stepped out the back door. We took many walks along the bay side beach, and we took the short walk across the street when we felt like strolling along the gulf. Really the best of both worlds. This home is in a very nice location – not too crowded and so nice to have such easy access to both sides of the island. We took advantage of the crab trap and using a can of tuna with holes poked in it, we actually caught a crab to our son’s delight! Our favorite activities on Dauphin Island are walking the beach, biking along the bike path and through the neighborhoods, hiking through the bird sanctuary, picnicking in Cadillac Square, photographing the beautiful sunsets, and we can’t miss the trip to Bellingrath Gardens. We are fly fishers and have tried this in different areas on the island. My husband enjoyed walking hundreds of feet out from the dock casting his heart out but was no match for the pelicans diving at the fish all around him. You could hear him all the way back on the dock yelling at them in his own unique language, telling them to leave the cotton picken fish alone so he had half a chance! We brought 4 inflatable kayaks with us and enjoyed rowing around the bay – we even saw some baby dolphins one day escorting my son on either side of his kayak as he paddled hard to keep up with them! It was truly a memorable experience. The upper deck was a perfect place to get some kites up into the air and proved entertaining for adults and kids alike. We used the dock extensively – more than we thought we would. It was an entertainment area most unique. You won’t go wrong renting this home away from home on what we think is one of the greatest vacation spots around!
Spring Break 2016 Fishbones
first off I have to say Ron has one of the best house's on the west end of the island. Fishbones is located on the bay side which is still only steps from the gulf beach. the house was perfect for our family. my wife and I took our two daughters and two of there friends. there is a living space upstairs with a table and seating with a flatscreen full bath and 2 bedrooms and downstairs has 2 bedrooms living and kitchen.it provided space for our family gatherings and also space for those much needed quiet times to. the front and back decks are amazing for family memories and the dock was the biggest selling point of the house. the cool mornings sitting on the dock watching the dolphins drinking my coffee was amazing. I recommend fishbones for any family gathering. you can youtube Ron's 2 bay side beachhouses. fishbones and fishtales. my family would like to thank island resort management and Ron for the wonderful memories and southern hospitality. We will be renting again with Ron in the near future.
The house was amazing...equipped really well with anything u could need. The house was very clean and the location on bay side was great. Very pet friendly.
I cannot say enough about how wonderful our stay was at this vacation rental. It was perfect. The house has everything including a full size side by side refrigerator freezer and a large laundry room. The kitchen was well stocked with all the needed kitchen gadgets and the table sat 6. The beds are very comfortable and the AC units work great. The deck is an added plus. We caught 2 large red fish right of the pier which made for a delicious meal on the gas grill. Ron (Owner) was wonderful to work with and so was the rental agency. Folks on the island are real friendly and the island grocery is well stocked and not that more expensive then off the island. 5 stars all across the board.
