Located within seconds of the beach in the Capitola Village, this newly remodeled apartment is equipped for the perfect family getaway, whether its for the weekend, week, or month. Parents can take advantage of the two bedrooms while the kids can enjoy themselves with the two beds located in the upstairs loft. Two bathrooms with shower amenities will ensure that everyone can be accommodated simultaneously. A full kitchen is furnished to service any meal. The living room is equipped with a flat screen HD TV and a pull out couch. Wifi is available throughout the residence. If there is a need to do laundry, a washing machine and dryer are available.

The balcony overlooking the Village and the beach in the background is perfect to relax on while people watching. After the sun sets, take advantage of the hot tub to further unwind. Private parking is available behind the apartment along El Camino Medio.

About Gian Paolo Martire

Our family has owned the building since 1996 and have enjoyed the Village through the three generations that have come to know the uniqueness of Capitola. We live within a half-an-hour of Capitola in the Santa Clara Valley and refer to the area as our second home. As fourth generation Northern Californians, we take pride in our area and we strive to provide the best for the visitors of our location.

What more can we say about Capitola and this apartment that hasn't already been said?!!! As a family we have enjoyed the Village and beach for its family friendliness, variety of dining and shopping, and awesome weather. The locals are welcoming and warm, and the area is safe. Everything one needs is in walking distance and don't be surprised if you don't use your car once while staying here.

Not to mention that one of the local favorite restaurants, Thai Basil, is downstairs!!!

What makes this apartment unique

As we remodeled the apartment in 2012, we wanted to add every convenience we could. A loft with two beds for the kids (or adults), a hot tub, a large window for natural lighting, WiFi and washing facilities. The balcony overlooking Monterey Avenue is great for people watching in the Village yet the double pained windows throughout the location ensure a good night sleep.

For us, its all about the location. Great restaurants, a beautiful beach, and shopping enhance a walking experience. There is nothing like stepping out the apartment door with a cup of coffee in the cool, fresh mornings and enjoying the Monterey Bay. This is why we keep coming back!

Loved our stay!

We had a girls weekend here and it was the perfect setup for a relaxing time. Close to shopping, beach, etc. We were able to park for the weekend and walk everywhere. The owners were super responsive when I had questions as well, which really helped with the planning. Also, the folks at the Thai restaurant below were incredible kind and helpful with parking etc. Highly recommend.

Perfect Spot!

We had the the most wonderful stay at this property for my husband’s 50th birthday! We enjoyed gathering on the deck, playing cards and best of all walking down the block to the beach.

This home was the perfect spot and size. The two bedrooms, bathrooms and loft were the perfect setup for us and all of the kids. We especially loved the open kitchen dining and family room area.

We are a grateful for the opportunity to stay in this beautiful apartment and we will definitely return.

Spacious, well equipped rental with prime location

We thoroughly enjoyed our 2 nights stay at this rental. Gian was quick to respond to my questions and concerned. The kitchen was well equipped with all our cooking/BBQ needs. The upstairs loft ended up being much closer to the roof than anticipated. Not adult friendly and the children were too young to sleep alone.

The bedrooms were the perfect size but both mattresses' were extremely loud while sleeping. Sounded like you were sleeping on a bag of Dortios. Not conducive to keeping the babies asleep. Vacations are a time to rest and sleep well but these mattresses inhibited us from doing so. Our overall experience was filled with beach days, surfing, paddleboarding and Smashball. Capitola is a quiet, beautiful location with so much to offer within walking distance or a quick drive away.

Nicely updated but lacking adequate maintenance

Very centrally located. Nicely remodeled with a beach theme. Clean and compact. However, it seems the home is not well maintained:

1. The cable box did not work and after the Host indicated wires may be plugged in incorrectly (they weren’t) no further help was given.

2. The two shower heads are the wrong ones for the shower system, despite the Host saying “everything was up to specification”. Basically the shower head connections force the heads to be vertical, causing water from the head to spray horizontally out at you instead of vertically on top of you.

3. The shower head in the back master, as mentioned in a previous review, is busted. No water comes out the outer ring at all and the water that comes out the inner rings just sort of gushes and dribbles out all over the place. Basically not usable.

4. The two queen beds squeak like crazy. Any slight movement results in one hell of a noise emanating from the box spring. This could adult be remedied with new box springs, which cost about $100 each.

5. There was no dishwasher detergent present in the house. This makes it a little hard to wash and put away the dishes, as requested, before leaving. We ended up using hand soap which seemed to do the trick.

6. Each bathroom has two lights. One of each did not work in each of the two bathrooms.

7. The WiFi hub is stuck in a closet behind a solid wood door. This results in poor WiFi in half the house. I remedied this by taking the hub outside the door and hanging it from the top of the door temporarily. An easy fix would be to get longer wires and mount the hub on the wall outside the door.

8. When we arrived for check in at 4pm the cleaning lady was still there and told us that she was told no one was checking in that day. We had to leave and come back an hour later.

None of these issues on their own were a deal killer. But all added up they smack of a host that is not fully committed or willing to spend the time and money to properly maintain a home that she is charging a substantial rent for.

FYI I own a home in Tahoe that we rent out for a similar daily price. Any such issues are taken care of before the next renter arrives. This requires additional cost and time, but if you’re going to charge these prices then thats what you need to commit to as a host.

Capitola is a small coastal town on California’s Monterey Bay. The town was pioneered in the late 1800?s first as a lumber port and later as a vacation resort.

Capitola’s beach is embraced between two cliffs in a river valley. The river, Soquel Creek, is the site of the annual Begonia Festival where flower laden floats grace the river for a weekend in September. The Esplanade is a wonderful stroll in the village of Capitola, along a row of restaurants, historic homes and small shops passing by the vistas of Monterey Bay and the beach. In September the Esplanade hosts the Capitola Art & Wine Festival.

A major shopping area less than a mile from the beach is located on 41st Avenue featuring malls and major retail stores
