About Heidi Koch
Originally from California, Jake and I met out in Colorado where we lived for over 17 years. We enjoyed living there and sharing all the fabulous outdoor activities with our children as well. We purchased our Baja house in 2007 hoping to spend some quality time with our family at the ocean. We surely enjoy this special time with such an amazing view of the Pacific! More recently we have moved back to California in the San Luis Obispo area and are looking forward to sharing all that California has to offer with our children as they grow, but also hoping to get to Baja even more than before.
Heidi Koch purchased this House in 2007
Why Heidi Koch chose El Pescador
We first vacationed at this house during Thanksgiving time in 2006. It was for sale and we loved our time here so much that we bought the property soon after. Our plan was to be able to enjoy the house when we were able to get away from Colorado and to continue to use it as a vacation rental as well. We have had many memorable visits with our children. They absolutely love being at the Baja house. The connection with the ocean is unforgettable.
What makes this House unique
One of my favoite places when at the house is the front entry courtyard. It's such a cool place to sit on a warm summer day. The bouganvilla cascading over the entry is absolutely beautiful. But it's undeniably the view of the Pacific Ocean on the back patio that cannot be forgotten. Being able to walk down to the waves to surf in front of the house is Jake's favorite activity. Come experience our House by the Waves, Casa De Las Olas. It is such a family friendly house in a quiet and safe neighborhood with a beach below (depending on tides) and the village of Puerto Nuevo next door. Perfect for a couple or a family.

Loved this place
Very quiet, clean and most of all what a beautiful view! I really recomend this place it's a must😊🌊 thank you Heidy and Debbie..
We absolutely loved this beach house! We are already planning our next visit. There is a cleaning fee required, paid in cash, and it is not listed in the 'fees' when you reserve your rental. That threw us off, but it's a legitimate fee and is dependent on the length of stay and number of people in your party.
The house is private and is in a gated community with 24 hour security. At the entrance is an OXXO convenience store, a tienda (grocery store), and a restaurant. You hardly have to leave the beach house!
We had no issues what-so-ever! The beach access is very close, and was a workout for me, but I have health issues ; large steps, not a hike. The rental overlooks the ocean, and what a view!!
It is easy access off of the toll road and we went from the border to the rental within an hour's drive. Note: there is no cell phone access at the border, so contact the rental folks before leaving the US side of the border, if you're driving, like we did.
Can't wait to make our next reservation!!
The place is in a gated quiet and clean community, there is a security in the front that always is going to open and close the gate for you 24 hrs a day, the views you have from the house are simply amazing, we had breakfast and dinner overseeing the sunset on their patio, really easy access to the beach if the tide allows you to, the water rises early in the AM and it goes back until 1 PM so in the morning you can really enjoy the beach, but you can walk about 10 minutes south and find all of those Lobsters restaurants, If your looking for good food, that is the place to go, very close to groceries store and gas station.
Great location and lovely house
We had a great time and the house was amazing. Very safe and secure, close enough to everything, and Debbie was awesome in getting us settled in. I look forward to my next stay.
Everything was amazing! The house is great and has pretty much everything you need. The only thing I recommend is some screens for the patio doors. The weather is so awesome you want to keep the doors open, but then you have to deal with the bugs. Other than that, we had a wonderful stay. Neighbors and guard are very kind and polite. Thank you for a wonderful weekend and sharing your home with us.
Cute and Convenient Home
The home was very convenient for our stay in Mexico. It had 3 bedrooms; 2 bedrooms with queen beds and one bedroom with twin bunkbeds. Two full bathrooms (one with a tub). All reviews that were previously written by guests were accurate. The house is very close to Puerto Nuevo market, 20 minute drive to Rosarito, views were amazing, nice owner and property manager, secured location (gated community with 24 hour security), and easy to find. Wished that the area offered more of a sandy beach. There is a small beach during low tide but is infested with bugs, dead animals and seaweed (I believe that's were most of the smell comes from). Internet was only strong in the bunkbed room, once in the living area it would no longer work. Warm water worked in one of the bathrooms but the other remained cold the whole week. Had to bring extra toilet paper, paper towels and trash bags.
Was charged $100 cash for a cleaning fee which seemed a bit pricy for me due to the size of the house and the average prices in the area.
Overall experience was good. However, I would most likely try and explore other options for rentals.
Thank you for your review Evelyn. I am happy to hear that overall the house worked for your week stay. To address the issues: the items we put out for renters are a full roll of paper towels, 2 extra rolls of toilet paper in each bathroom, and extra garbage bags. This is very typical for a rental. As your group stayed for a week, it is assumed that you would need to buy extras, especially since your group was larger than expected. The cleaning fee is typically $50 - for a weekend. Your group of 6 or more was there for a week and we price accordingly. We have always tried to be fair with our pricing. The cleaning fee is set by our cleaning lady who lives in the neighborhood. This is also the person who would have come to fix the hot water issue if you would have contacted us. I'm sorry to hear that you were out any hot water for the week! We have 2 water heaters. The circuit must have popped on one. An easy fix if we were notified. And for the beach, yes the size is dependent on the tide. There are sand fleas, as there are on our beaches in CA. I'm not sure what to say about the "dead animals" on the beach as I have never seen that. The seaweed gets piled up in the summer and is washed away from high tides and storms. Late summer lacks in storms. We have always managed to get away from it and enjoyed our time on the beach. There are not many big sandy beaches in the area.
The quaint lobster village of Puerto Nuevo is a two-minute drive or a short stroll down the beach. The village is home to many restaurants and marketplace outdoor shopping. Casa de las Olas is only 15 minutes south of Rosarito Beach with its wide sand beaches, wonderful restaurants, and great shopping. Shop with local merchants and artisans! Casa de las Olas is located approximately 40 minutes from the San Diego International Airport and 30 minutes south of the Mexican border from Tijuana
