Cosy 1 bedroom apartment in a historic canal house in a quiet and very popular residential area on the Amsterdam city island 'Prinseneiland', The island is like an old fashioned village within the center of Amsterdam, and is inhabited by a nice mixture of artists, expats and traditional Amsterdam people, close to the canals and main city’s attractions.

The apartment has a very nice feel with an 'authentic' style, an open, fully equipped kitchen in the living-room, a private bathroom with shower, wireless internet, a TV with international channels and of course a coffee maker. In the bedroom is a double bed and in the living there is a couch which can be made into a comfortable double bed as well, if you like to sleep seperately. (costs for extra bedlinen is 10 euro). Bookings are for 2 guests max, a baby is counted as 1 person according to the local rules!
Everything in this apartment is in great condition!

The neighborhood is ideal located at about a 10 minutes walking distance from the busy city center with lots of restaurants and shops, The Ann Frank House, the Central Railway Station, the Red Light District, Dam Square and Westerpark and 3 nice markets on Mondays (arts and crafts-), Wednesdays (organic-) and Saturdays (farmers-).

In short, the perfect place to stay when in Amsterdam!

The apartment is well situated in a quiet neighborhood which is a relief after navigating large tourist crowds. In this setting and being in an old canal house, I feel I gained some understanding of Dutch culture. Emmy is simply lovely in her attention to her guests. The apartment was very clean.The only issue was the description which seems not to have come from Emmy. The bathroom is a full bathroom not a half. Also the picture on VRBO is not of the actual house as it is not waterfront.

Apartment was very clean and away from the busy tourist attractions. This particular apartment had very steep narrow stairs to climb to enter it. Emmy was available to help with luggage on arrival.

Couple of things, 1. First floor is not the same thing as ground floor. Learned that afterwards but that's on me, not the host. 2. You can no long purchase anonymous metro cards, so we were paying as we go and the public transit is very good, but VERY expensive. Yes we could have walked everywhere, but even with using public transit, we were still walking 15,000 stI feel that we got all we wanted out of our stay, we didn't feel the need to venture out into the red light at night, it was still interesting during the day. Four days was enough for us.

Everything was perfect. Easy to get around Amsterdam from here. A lovely neighborhood. Little thing that made me happy. Facecloths seem to be going the way of the past. I love facecloths and pack one just so I have one. No need here! They we sewed like a mitt! You could put soap inside and wash away. Came home and sewed a few of my own.

Emmy is a great host. This place is special. It’s in a quiet neighbourhood where you can hear the birds chirping and locals live there but it’s right walking distance from anywhere you need to be. It’s easy to walk (or grab a tram) from the central train station or to any of the major sites in the city. The place is very clean, the kitchen was well equipped -I was able to make dinner, and you can have really restful sleeps there. I plan to come back for sure. My trip was a mix of work and pleasure.

The apartment was clean. There is a refrigerator but no freezer. There was no hand soap in the bathroom, no Kleenex and no paper towels. The apartment had an odd configuration. In order to get to the bedroom you had to walk through the bathroom. Although the front door to the building could be locked, those rooms couldn't be locked. The living room/kitchen could be locked. The neighborhood is beautiful and near the canals. However, there were no restaurants or shops closely. Everything was 10-15 minutes away.

We totally scored with this apartment. The location was quiet, the seating in the apartment was comfortable and so was the bed. Emmy was a great host. We really enjoyed our stay there.

We had a lovely 4 night stay in Emmy's apartment. Everything was as described in the listing. Location was perfect with easy access to Amsterdam highlights by foot or public transportation. Would definitely stay again.

(1) The actual situation of the rooms did not match with the photos. The photos showed the rooms to be pretty large, but the bedroom and sitting room are actually very very small; (2) up and down the stairs were very difficult since the space is too tight and it is steep, it is very difficult to bring luggage up and down the stairs, not suitable for seniors; (3) no air conditioners. If the temperature is high, there temperature inside is even higher you can't even bear it; (4) to protect the dinner table surface, the host put a very dirty cover on top which is very disgusting; (5) the water tab in the bathroom has very small water flow which I have never seen; (6) when we book it, it did not say but when we have arrived and would like to use the sofa bed to sleep separately, we were asked to pay extra 10 Euros; (7) check-in is not convenient. The host has to wait for the arrival of the guests; (8) the hot water supply was very mean. It changes all the time between too hot and too cold, which was the worst shower we have ever experienced; (9) the advertisement did not say that the fridge did not have a freezer; we found it out after we bought some ice cream and then suddenly we recognized that there was no place to store. therefore the ice cream was totally wasted; (10) it does not have AC, but you cannot open the window since the mosquito will attack you during the night. In summary, this is the worst condition we have ever experienced so far.

It was a lovely quiet peaceful haven. In a family neighborhood within walking distance of the busy city. Very narrow stairs to walk up and down, especially with luggage. So you must be agile!

This apartment is in a perfect location with easy access to the bus and tram. Grocery store and restaurants are near by. The apartment is a very comfortable with a separate bedroom and a sofa that opens to a bed. The host met us and personally walked us through a map of Amsterdam.Would highly recommend this apartment for your stay in Amsterdam

This is our second stay here and it’s perfect! Quiet neighborhood just a short walk to everything you want in the center without all the noise and drunks. Emmy was great as we had some last minute arrival scheduling problems on our end and she made it work. We love her and this fabulous apartment.

Had a wonderful 3 night stay in this very cute and comfortable apartment. Emmy, the host, was there to greet us upon arrival to show us around the apartment and give us a run down on this charming and quiet community. The apartment was well equipped and very clean. Great location walkable to shopping, dining, markets and tourist areas. Only a short Uber ride to train station and cruise port. Stairs are steep like most traditional Dutch homes so if you have mobility issues book the ground floor unit which is just as lovely!

So much fun

Location is great. Loved the neighborhood. Easy to catch bus to Central station and then go anywhere from there. good restaurants nearby.

The apartment suited our needs perfectly and we enjoyed an evening walk and a meal in a bar in the local area. Great position for walking in to the centre and a tram back at night.
