My goal is to provide customers low cost lodging in the Snowshoe Village while ensuring a comfortable vacation. My low price guarantee is valid from mid-March through the first weekend of skiing. I'll beat any verifiable, comparable Mountain Lodge offer during those dates. I have additional units if this one is booked.

Snowshoe Resort is a year-round vacation resort. In the winter you and your party can enjoy 60 different ski slopes, two terrain parks, tubing, cross-country skiing, and snowmobiling. After the slopes close you can stroll through the Village's restaurants, shops, kids’ entertainment zone, nightclub, full service spa and a teen center for those 20 years old and younger.

In the summer you can plan on a significantly cooler climate in the mountains where you can hike, mountain bike, fish, paddle-boat, shoot sporting clays, or golf at Raven Golf Course, the #1 public access course in WV. There are also RAZR 4-wheelers and a zip line right in the Village! Year-round you can sightsee, swim, see live theater, or take a scenic ride on a historic train. As of summer 2015, Snowshoe closed most activities (except for lodging and the golf course) on Mon – Weds. If you’re planning a summer trip, double-check with Snowshoe to ensure the activities you want will be available.

The Mountain Lodge is a Ski In/Ski Out complex ideally located right in the Snowshoe Village and next to the slopes, and has its own private parking lot (free to Mountain Lodge guests). You’ll be 30 yards from the Ballhooter Lift and the Beginners’ Slope, all within the Basin. The indoor pool, hot tub, sauna, church, and general store are only a several minute walk to other buildings. Your room at the Mountain Lodge is also within walking distance of the Western Territory slopes and the shuttle to night skiing at Silver Creek, giving you outstanding access to all 60 slopes. On the ground floor you’ll find a relaxing lobby with a warm fireplace. The common areas and units of the building all have wi-fi, though connections can be difficult during periods of high demand. You’ll have Auntie Pasta’s (Italian dining), an exercise room, and a game room all in your own building (not available all summer). Mountain Lodge also offers a nightly movie during the ski season. Though you shouldn't need it, Mountain Lodge is the only building on the mountain with on-site maintenance. If something goes wrong in any other building, good luck getting a quick repair. The mild weather most of the summer at the top of the mountain allows for the lack of air conditioning in the building and in most rooms. Despite this, some rooms do have interior air conditioning. Please check the unit’s amenities for details.

Your cell phone may not work in and around Snowshoe Mountain. The area east of the mountain is a quiet zone due to the Green Bank National Observatory. As of 2015, AT&T has service at the resort, but not down the mountain to the east. Your GPS will work everywhere, but don’t count on your phone working (voice or data).

You’ll have a spacious two bedroom condo that easily sleeps six. This unit is warmly decorated to come back from the ski slopes and relax. The kitchen is well-stocked with dinnerware, utensils, pots and pans, coffee maker, oven, microwave, refrigerator, toaster, blender, etc. so you can bring food to eat-in. The kitchen table seats all six. The building’s free wi-fi is accessible in this unit. The master bedroom has a queen bed, ceiling fan, and a 27” cable TV. The guest bedroom has a queen bed, ceiling fan, and a 20” cable TV. There's a double-size sleeper sofa, TV, and DVD player in the living room. Each bathroom has a hair dryer so you don’t have to pack them. Videos can be rented downstairs in the lobby or at Wildcat Provisions. Your condo has a built-in ski rack and a balcony.

Guests may begin checking in at 5:00 PM.

Guests MUST be checked out by 11:00 AM - no exceptions.

About Tim Wolfe

I own my own Mountain Lodge units and manage this one. You can see over 35 comments from my very happy guests at listing # 178704. I aim to take care of my guests.

Why Tim Wolfe chose West Virginia

Mountain Lodge is the ideal place to stay at Snowshoe. I saw that when I first skied there. You'll think so, too.

What makes this condo unique

I like seeing the staff there. It's like a big family. Hopping onto the slopes from the building is a nice touch, too.

Truly ski in/ Ski out apartment

  • 3 of 5

A clean apartment, But could use a facelift. Furniture was abit rum down. But the location is perfect when you want to hit the slopes.

Unit very nice, building worn out, village understaffed and missing advertised amenities

  • 2 of 5

The unit was nicely and thoughtfully furnished and was plenty large for our needs; the photos are representative. Tim was very responsive and helpful. The building is quite dated, dingy and dark, though, and in need of many updates - carpets, lobby furniture, good cleaning, lighting, etc. The personnel on the mountain we encountered were very helpful and professional -- there just weren't enough of them, so the wait-time in restaurants, shops, some activities, etc. was quite long at times. Since our visit was in August, many of the services and amenities were understandably closed and unavailable -- but it was annoying that there wasn't any information available to inform guests; we just had to wander around on our own -- only to find empty buildings, restaurants, etc. -- with no signage or personnel to explain or assist. Current updates and/or informed and available personnel would have been very helpful and would have made our visit much more enjoyable.

Owner's Response: While I'm sorry to hear about this guest's thoughts on the building and on Snowshoe's services, I appreciate her compliments on the room and on my service (I wish she'd based her star-rating on that!). I reached out for additional detail, as I always do when my guests are less than fully satisfied, but I did not hear back. I strive to inform my guests about Snowshoe's summer activities and dining, and point them to the best sources of information so they might come prepared. Summer at Snowshoe is a win-win for people who want to get away from it all. Our building is one of the older ones on the mountain, and our HOA is planning significant renovations in the next several years. As an active member of the HOA, I'll address her and others' comments with our board. Guests looking for clean, friendly accommodations convenient to the Village at a great price will be happy they stayed here. I'll address the Snowshoe-specific concerns with Snowshoe. My good friend was there this same weekend from Thursday to Monday with three other families (kids aged 4 months to 12 years). They visited the National Radio Astronomy Observatory; swam in the pool; swam, played, canoed, and paddle boarded in the lake; used the climbing wall and Euro-bungee; and hiked one of the easier trails. They ate out at restaurants in the Village (Cheat Mountain Pizza, Foxfire Grille, and dessert at The Junction) two nights and ate-in two other nights. They saw others geo-caching, mountain biking, riding the RZR off-road vehicles, riding the Segways, attending the Treasure on the Mountain party, and riding the zipline. They decided against horseback riding and sporting clays due to the young kids. So there are plenty of events for summer guests who plan accordingly and review the links and recommendations I send as part of the confirmation e-mail.

great time

  • 5 of 5

TIm is great to work with. Rental is very convenient. Walk out of building and you are on the slopes. First time to WV for skiing and my family/friends ski every year out west and we were very happy with the slopes. The village dining can be packed FYI. We brought some frozen pizzas, sandwich stuff and ate at the condo about half of the time. Awesome arcade. We will be back!!!

Very clean and nice. Also had two bathrooms, which is handy. Mountain Lodge is the best location for the Ballhooter lift!

MLK 2016 Scout Trip

  • 5 of 5

The condo was perfect for our group - me and my wife and four teenagers from our scout troop. Everything was in good working order plus we had easy access to the slopes, lobby and arcade and central village. The owner was responsive to all requests and questions.
