About the host
Hosted by Sheila Baker
I'm a native Jacksonian! Born, raised and educated in this great city and proud of it. It's a city rich in history, culture, and Southern hospitality. Jackson is often called the “City with Soul,” and for good reason. It’s home to a vibrant music heritage, from blues to gospel, as well as world-class museums like the Mississippi Civil Rights Museum and the Museum of Art. The food scene here is unforgettable, with soul food and Southern classics that truly capture the spirit of our community. Beyond that, Jackson is full of warm, welcoming people and a sense of resilience and pride that makes it a special place to call home. I believe it’s a city worth celebrating, and I’m always excited to share its story with others.
Why they chose this property
I grew up in this Dalehaven Subdivision. I know and treasure the neighbors in it. We have an active Homeowners Association and communicate on a regular basis. This neighborhood is highly sought after and many neighbors have owned their homes for over 30 years. Our neighbor to the west, the Elraine Subdivision (now also known as the Medgar Evers Historic District), is one of the most meaningful neighborhoods in Mississippi — both for its architecture and the powerful history embedded in its streets. Check it out if you have a chance.
What makes this property unique
The Peacock House is unique in that it's so cozy, tranquil and peaceful. It's like a cottage in the city!
