Great stay

  • 5 of 5

Our stay on Hatteras was wonderful! The house was comfortable and tasteful with a good amount of space for our family of 5. Our kids loved the loft area and we all went up to read books, play games and see the light from the Cape Hatteras lighthouse. Beautiful view of the sound! Morning and evening (sunset) views were amazing. We brought our fold-out wagon and loaded up for the beach and it was a quick walk down the street and over the dunes. Fantastic weather and a great beach. Aside from street noise from Hwy 12 which runs right next to the house, the area was pretty quiet. We spent time on the beach, visited the Cape Hatteras lighthouse, went to mini golf/bumper cars, and took the ferry to Ocracoke for a day of riding bikes around the island. Couldn't have been more relaxing.

My only criticism would be that the supplies are a bit sparse. Only 1 extra roll of toilet paper and one towel/washcloth per person. We ended up buying some laundry detergent and washing towels several times during our stay. I had also brought extra toilet paper and paper towels from home and we used those. Also, the walkway to the sound was roped off due to needed repair which was disappointing. Not such a big deal but would have liked to know that before going as it's a nice feature of the house.

Great vacation!

  • 5 of 5

This rental was very nice, clean, and welcoming. Very close to the beach. Really enjoyed the deck, sitting there and drinking coffee was so relaxing. Plus, we had all our family there and it was a special vacation for us, in a special location.

Perfect retreat!

  • 4 of 5

A group of friends and I met for a long weekend at the beach. This was the perfect home for us! I was an easy 5ish minute walk to the beach and there are stores a short drive away if you need anything. The home was clean and well furnished.

Exactly what we needed, nothing fancy

  • 4 of 5

The house was cool and comfortable and a very short walk to the beach. You can tell the house is in need of a few repairs/updates but after all, it's still a beach house. To call it a four bedroom was kind of a stretch considering the 4th "bedroom" was an extremely hot tiny loft up a metal spiral staircase. The kitchen was well stocked and included plenty of pots and pans. The house is in need of some new outdoor furniture as two of the Adirondack chairs were broken prior to our arrival. The house is nicely decorated with a variety of beach-themed items. The internet was rather slow so if you expect to stream netflix or surf the web you might want to consider an alternative. The cable/satellite package was decent except for the fact that they don't have ESPN. There are no bars nearby that stay open later than 9pm.

Overall, the house is nothing fancy so if you're expecting something super nice then I suggest looking elsewhere. For a guys weekend, I would certainly stay here again.

Owner's Response: I am glad that you had a nice stay at the house. The house is adveritsed as a 3 bedroom and not four, and the loft is alway a bit warm. The house will have repairs done this off season being it 16 years old it is time do do a facelift. The internet in the area around the house is not great but there is nothing that can be done to correct that, we have tried. Do hope that you come back and stay again.

Good value for the stay.

  • 5 of 5

This house was large enough for each person in our party and one of the only places around that would allow for us to stay for less than a week. The sound wasn't as accessible as we might have liked but there is plenty of beach access for fishing and other things very close to the house. Overall we enjoyed our stay and would definitely stay again.
