Spring Break 17

  • 5 of 5

My 13 year old, my husband and I stayed here last weekend. We loved the seclusion. The cabin was very clean and the kitchen had plenty of pots and pans and such to cook with. The cabin is huge, plenty of room and beautiful too I love the decor. The first night we were there it rained but we could still sit out and enjoy the evening on the porch playing games and listening to the frogs. It was really nice to relax in the hot tub after a day of hiking and to wake up and enjoy the morning java while watching the birds. We had a great, relaxing time reconnecting with nature. We definitely will recommend this cabin to our friends and would love to come back again very soon.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your review. I am so glad you enjoyed the cabin and enjoyed your stay in Hocking Hills. That is my hope for everyone that visits! The frogs and birds really like to sing there! Thanks again. Cherie

Cozy Cabin Getaway

  • 5 of 5

Hickory Groves cabin was easy to find (thank you for the lit sign by the road!). The owner made the space very welcoming with seasonal decor and a festively lit wrap around porch. The cabin itself was beautiful and clean...all the comforts of home and extras (gas fireplace, hot tub) provided. Old Man's Cave and hiking trails were minutes away. We had a wonderful stay! I would highly recommend this property.

Family friendly and very relaxing

  • 5 of 5

When we originally arrived Google Maps was a little bit off we actually drove past the big sign that said where the property was before Google Map said we had arrived. Driving up to the property it was very pretty. The kids absolutely loved the porch although they tried to spend as much time as they could on the pass and around the pond. The inside of the cabin was very nice and very clean very roomy. There were actually some movies already there which helped with the kids. There was also some cookware which made eating in and having dinner and lunch much easier. It was very peaceful and quiet and awesome views all around. There were also some chips that were left there which we gave to the kids thank you so much for that it was very thoughtful

Peaceful cabin filled with love.

  • 4 of 5

We recently spent time at the cabin and found it very cozy. It was easy to find and Cherie has filled it with all the comforts of home. The fireplace was nice to relax in front of and we loved sitting on the front porch enjoying the peace. We did give feed back on a few items that the homeowner is already working on. I will recommend the cabin to my friends and family. Thank you for the great memories.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your stay and the review of the cabin. I am glad you were able to make some good memories there. The items you mentioned to me were having clear instructions for the tv remote and how long the fountain is on each day. I now have the instructions near the tv. As far as the fountain, we may reduce the time it is on especially since the mosquito season is coming to an end soon. I welcome the feedback as I like to continue to make the cabin more inviting for past and future guests. Thank you for recommending Hickory Grove Cabins to your friends and family and thank you again for your stay!

If you don't have allergies & can open windows, you might like this place.

  • 3 of 5

I specifically asked prior to reserving this cabin if they had central air conditioning. The owner responded that they did. When we got there, the a/c did not cool the cabin and when I called the owner after the 2nd hot night, there was nothing she could do. There was no other cabin to move to, nor any offer of partial refund due to our discomfort. Aside for the a/c, it is a nice little cabin - very clean and the surrounding area was relaxing. Guess the next time I rent a place, I'll have to ask if the a/c actually works!!! FYI-can't open the windows due to bad allergies.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your review and thank you for noting how clean the cabin was and how relaxing the surrounding area was. I am so sorry you were disappointed that the cabin was not as cool as you expected it to be.. I was unaware when you called to reserve the cabin that you preferred the temperature to stay below 70 degrees. Unfortunately, the week you came ended up being in the 90's and the air conditioner apparently could not keep it under 70 degrees. When we spoke you said the first night it stayed at 70 and the second night was 72 and that temperature was not acceptable to you. With that being said, I was not able to accommodate your request to have the temp under 70 degrees.

FLAT. During the last ice age, about three-quarters of Ohio was steamrollered to pancake perfection by glaciers. Ohio takes in nearly 45,000 square miles, yet its highest point is only about 1,000 feet above its lowest. So, yes, flat.

But tucked into Ohio's southeast corner, near where it touches West Virginia and Kentucky, lies a protected pocket the glaciers never bullied, a densely wooded but thinly populated region of rugged slopes and cool hollows, of spring-fed creeks and cascading waterfalls, known as the Hocking Hills. For years, city dwellers from Columbus, only an hour away, have sought refuge there in retreats hidden among oak, cherry, walnut and hickory forests.

Conkles Hollow The 'Hocking Hills' is a deeply-dissected area of the Allegheny Plateau in Ohio, primarily in Hocking County, Ohio|Hocking County, that features cliffs, gorges, rock shelters, and waterfalls. The relatively extreme topography in this area is due to the Blackhand Sandstone (so named because of Native American graphics on the formation near Newark, Ohio), a particular formation that is thick, hard and weather-resistant, and so forms high cliffs and narrow, deep gorges.

Most of the more scenic areas of the region are under state ownership, including: * Hocking Hills State Park
