Newly opened. Go back in time to a place on the Suwannee that is reminiscent of the 50s. A quiet retreat where nature, the river and fishing is out your back door. A sloped beach is perfect for kayaks and canoes with a tie up for larger boats and a floating dock and easy river access. Access to a free boat ramp is 4 houses down. The property is approximately 28 minutes by boat to the Gulf of Mexico for salt water enthusiasts. This is a perfect location for those that are serious fishermen or kayak paddlers. The single dwelling home will sleep 8 easily and has a nice yard to relax and picnic in. The fire pit and grill are available for cooking up your daily catch or a nice steak. The dishwasher works great inside so that you will not have to deal with daily chores. A collection of over 400 books are in the library for the evenings when your day events are done and internet is available. The property is 4.9 miles from Manatee State Park, a perfect swimming hole in the summer and with wintering manatees to view. It is a 27 minute drive to historic Cedar Key on the Gulf of Mexico, and a 20 minute drive to Shell Mound known as a kayakers playground. If you like to hike just walk out the front door and we are next to trails in both the State Park and Florida Water Management Preserve. We are 10 miles from the Lower Suwannee Refuge, great for biking or hiking. It is just miles away from Gulf Hammock a hunters paradise. The city of Chiefland is 10 miles from the house and has a variety of restaurants, antique stores, and shops. There is a local vineyard 5 miles up the road on 19 from Chiefland that is a fun place to explore. This area of the Suwannee is what old Florida used to be, a place to get away and just relax, fish, kayak, get back to nature.

Learned to swim in this river and grew up loving all that it has to offer. Moved to Alaska for years before heading back home. Great natural old Florida scenery. Husband and I enjoy this river and location.

We had a great weekend really enjoyed ourselves and caught quite a bit of fish.
If you're looking for quiet get-away, this is the place. Plenty of space and right on the river. We enjoyed both docks. Warning! If you fish off the older boathouse dock, don't catch a catfish over 10#. It will break the fishing line when you attempt to lift it up to the floor height of that dock. After that, we re-located to the "floating dock". It's floor is roughly 20 inches above water level. We were able to get the catfish landed with no problem! (My Point is, yes, there are some big catfish in that river, and yes, I lost a big one due to our light tackle). We found that frozen chicken livers, on the bottom of the river. Let it sit. The catfish will come to it (smell) and take the baited hook. Then you reel them in. The firepit/grill was awesome and allowed us to cook lobster and crab legs over the fire/coals. The water is well water. But Mary Beth had a case of water for us to use. I suggest you bring a few gallons of water for cooking/drinking. We didn't have any issues with the property at all, and, after meeting Mary Beth, I really believe if we did, she would have bent over backwards to take care of it. She's a great owner to work with. 15 minute drive to Winn-Dixie or Wally World in the town of Chiefland. We had a wonderful 39th wedding anniversary this past weekend. Thank you Mary Beth. Please pet Curley and Larry for us! God Bless!
My wife and some other family needed a place to stay for a wedding as well as a place too visit family nearby and this place ended up being perfect! Comfortable, plenty of room, river front, all you would need for a long stay available and kid friendly! The owner Mary is a very kind friendly person who lives next door. She is very familiar with the area and very accessible if you need her but in no way overbearing. I would 100% recommend this place!
You were great guests!
Quiet Beauty on the Historic Suwannee River!
You may start your morning watching deer playing in the front yard, or fishing from the private floating dock on the Suwannee River, but either way, only the sounds of nature and wildlife and the occasional sound of a fisherman's boat easing along the Suwannee will disturb your peace. No need to bring much more than your camera and fishing gear. It is well equipped and comfortable. Watch the sunrise or sunset over one of only two rivers in the US that have no industry on its banks anywhere along the 200+ miles as you feel the stress that you have come to escape just melt away. It is large enough for comfortably accommodate a large family or small group of friends. We came for a reunion of high school friends, and had a very special event. Four thumbs up!
