This is a beautiful, freshly renovated (Oct 2014), 2 Bedroom, 2 Bath house (or add the Studio for 3 Bedroom, 3 Bath option) right on a gorgeous, wide Pacific beach moments away from the action of Montanita. Enjoy a fun-filled, relaxing Ecuadorian vacation with plenty of amenities--and all this at bargain rates! We also offer the use of a local cell phone during your stay, programmed with my number, taxis, tour companies, restaurant delivery, and other helpful local contact info. Housekeeping and personal laundry are also available during your stay for an additional fee, depending on your needs. The internet speed is fast and reliable, so you can stay in touch with people at home.
Curia is a quiet, peaceful little town 2 km (1mi.) north of Olon, 5 km, (3 mi.) north of Montanita, 184 km (114 miles) from Guayaquil. It is a 2.5 hour drive by car or 3 hours by convenient, comfortable express bus from Guayaquil and the Int'l airport.
Montanita is famous for its great surfing beach, fun nightlife with excellent restaurants, bars and shopping. Good beach breaks, surfing, and surfing lessons can also be enjoyed right in front of the house! The beach is gently sloping, so that the close-in surf is gentle and safer for children. Huge upstairs deck is perfect for dining and parties, providing long views up and down the beach. Enjoy breakfast on the balcony, watch whales when they come through, and watch the sunset over dinner! There are two small convenience stores in Curia and two fresh produce trucks that park 10 meters (35 feet) from the house 6 days a week, offering a wide variety of fresh fruits and vegetables. Fresh-caught fish is sold on the beach. There is also a very good restaurant and little bar nearby on the beach that serves typical Ecuadorian foods, fresh fruit smoothies, cocktails, etc. Perfect for those lazy beach days. great location directly on the beach
This home is in a great location however this house needs a lot of attention and cleaning. There were so many mosquitos and noseeums in the house we got bitten so very badly. We sprayed heavily with raid and after we found many dead mosquitos all over the house but more kept getting inside and we realized there are so many you cant win. I don't know why it would be so bad we did not experience any bites the 10 days before coming to this house. We noticed some of the window screens were ripped letting these bugs in. The air conditioner in the master bedroom is so loud one cannot sleep with it going and you couldn't sleep with the balcony doors open at night due to the bugs. My husband slept on the couch cause there were so many mosquitos biting him in the bedroom but it didn't make any difference, he was awake all night. When we arrived there were ants all over the counters in the kitchen and we sprayed to remove them as well. We did not eat there so it was odd to have so many there. The beach is wonderful, this could be the perfect get away with some attention and cleaning. The curtains in the bedrooms are very old and have holes in them and terrible stains. The windows need washing, and the area near the big windows need cleaning there are so many dead bugs and dust there. We were a bit disappointed with the overall cleanliness and bugs. Upstairs bathroom toilet didn't refill so we were always adding water to it. So Sorry, Carolina, you were so very nice and informative but I can only give this rental a 2 out of five. The best news is that it can be fixed up, fumigated and cleaned up and it could be wonderful.
The home was well maintained and had everything we needed. The care provided by Carolina was very responsive, if a problem arose. We loved Danillo's next door and had a great time surfing right in front of the home, especially at sunset. The beach was amazing and the location was near enough to Olon and Montanita, but much quieter. Our family had a wonderful time at Casa Blanca in Curia.
Thanks a lot for your comment and we loved to have you as our guest in our house!
We like to offer our customers the best we can so you can enjoy your holydays in a lovely place.
My own private beach.
This was our second stay at this home. The beach was nearly empty every day. The house is as advertised. Catalina was a great host. Close by but not intrusive. Bought fish bread, eggs beer from the local community. My Spanish is terrible, but we managed to get by. Avoid the crowds and chaos of Montinita and stay in Curia.
Relaxing on a quiet beach!
The great -- The house is on a great quiet beach with a beach bar and restaurant 100 feet away (weekends only). Going to sleep every night to the rhythmic sounds of the ocean. Casa Blanca is a 25 minute walk or 5 minute taxi down the beach to Olan where there are restaurants with good music and lots of beach bars. If more action is desired a 10 minute taxi to Montanita. The house is comfortable and roomy. The 2 porches are great for socializing and watching the sun go down. Fish venders are up and down the beach all morning hawking inexpensive shrimp and fish.
The outstanding – Carolina and Enrique. When the cooking gas ran out at 7 AM we called them thinking that we would get gas on Ecuador time. There were over in less than 10 minutes with a new tank of gas. When they cleaned the house it was spotless. They are a fun and loving couple who made us laugh.
The not so good -- Internet and water were spotty. This was not a Casa Blanca problem as our friends staying in Olan had the same problems. Call it Ecuador.
Perfect beach house
My new husband and I honeymooned here for the second half of our trip (8 days). The house is beautiful and right on the beach. Literally, you walk out of the gated yard and you're on the beach. Since it is off season, the beach was practically secluded. A few surfers came on a couple days but they stayed for a couple hours of waves and then left. So it felt like we had the whole beach to ourselves. Cuatro Palmas restobar sits next door but wasnt open but maybe 5 days because of the season. Danilo owns it and he speaks some English and is funny and sweet and we enjoyed talking to him and his girlfriend Pamela at length several times.
The restobar has amazing juices and food. And Danilo knows no strangers. Everyone is a friend.
The house we were unnecessarily worried would be hot. It only has AC window units in the bedrooms. But it has ceiling fans throughout, a high quality ocilating fan and a plug in AC unit that you have to fill with water or ice. This made it very cool inside with the windows closed. (The only issue with the house was lack of cable. The DVD selection wasnt good.)
Plenty of hot water in the bathrooms. But not much counter space so we took a side table from one of the bedrooms and put it in there and voila! perfect amount of space.
Everything was clean although the floors pick up sand easily so I swept a couple times.
The house comes with 10 gals of filtered water on a dispenser in the kitchen. Kitchen comes with all the appliances and plates, silver etc. Even condiments.
We were given some coffee by the manager which was nice. There is a market in Olon which is a 2 min taxi drive. Or a 20 min walk. It was open until 10pm which was nice.
Eddie at Eddies Tacos in Olon speaks perfect English and has good food and beer but the cheescake was a real treat. After being in country for over a week, being able to speak English and eat sugary desserts was nice. Ecuadorian food is delicious but they dont use sugar the way Americans do or love desserts as much and I think we were having withdrawals. ☺
Carolina the manager at Casa Blanca super helpful and sweet and speaks English well. The phone provided with the house was really helpful.
My husband and I chartered a private boat through Machalilla Tours and MariaJose arranged a few special things for us as newlyweds. (I cannot say enough good things about Machalilla Tours! The snorkeling, boat, guides--all perfect.)
Casa Blanca was an amazing experience and we loved it!
