About this property
Central Austin Luxury Loft - Completely Private
First-class comfort awaits in this light-filled loft with soaring wood ceilings, privately attached to our historic 1930 home. Quiet, comfortable, and thoughtfully designed, the space is ideally located just one mile from the UT Memorial Tower and 1.5 miles from the Texas Capitol—close to everything, yet blissfully removed from downtown’s bustle. We’re delighted to welcome up to two guests who want proximity without the noise. Set in the charming Pemberton Heights neighborhood (west of UT) and within earshot of the UT Memorial Tower bells, this 500-square-foot, one-bedroom garage apartment feels like a private oasis. The loft sits above our garage, accessed by stairs leading to its own private entrance. Inside, you’ll find oak floors true to the home’s original character, a dramatic 15-foot vaulted ceiling clad in vintage reclaimed wood, and a beautifully appointed living space. A murphy bed with an exceptionally comfortable organic queen-size mattress is dressed in high-thread-count sheets and a light down comforter. Relax on the sofa and enjoy the 55” flat-screen TV, or unwind in the spa-like bathroom (shower only) stocked with fresh towels, a blow dryer, and thoughtful extras in case you forget something. The kitchenette includes a Nespresso machine with plenty of capsules for your morning coffee, dishwasher, microwave, small refrigerator (often stocked with a little beer, wine, and milk—though availability can vary, so feel free to ask), and all the plates, cups, bowls, and silverware you’ll need. That said, who really wants to cook while visiting ATX with all the delicious options? Happy to send you my list of favs.
The apartment is tucked away on a quiet half-acre lot in one of central Austin’s most historic and beautiful neighborhoods, yet offers easy access in and out of the area. Free parking is available in front of our home.. You’ll also have free Wi-Fi and a dedicated desk with an ergonomic chair if work calls. A central vacuum system helps keep the apartment as dust-free as possible. Pets and smoking are not permitted.
If you arrive early or need a late departure, we’re happy to help store your luggage . While this is our home, the apartment has a completely separate entrance. You may occasionally see us through our kitchen window if we’re home. Since the loft is above the garage, you may hear us leave in the morning or return in the evening, though we rarely depart before 8 a.m. or stay out past 11 p.m.
Quiet, charming, and ideally located, this loft offers the best of Austin living—historic surroundings, peaceful nights, and effortless access to the city’s most beloved spots.

We had such a comfortable stay here! The room felt luxe and cozy, everything was nice and clean, and it's located in a beautiful neighborhood that is in close driving proximity to plenty of fun things to do in Austin. The host was kind and welcoming, and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
Stayed here for a week whilst at SXSW. Great base with everything I needed and nice and quiet. Bonus was the shoal creek trail that I used everyday as a traffic free route straight into downtown!

Thank you, Peter! It was great to have you. We hope you enjoyed Austin!
The pictures are accurate. The space is an "in-law suite" above the garage on a property in a very nice neighborhood. We visited during Christmas, so many of the houses & trees in the area were adorned with holiday lights. Driving through provided a dazzling experience. The space is what amounts to a studio with a kitchenette--dishwasher, fridge, coffee maker but no oven/stove--off to the side, a murphy bed which lowers from built-in shelving/desk along one wall and a separate bathroom. It's a great size for a couple--plenty of space for sleeping, lounging, etc. We are not TV people, but there is a large screen TV. I wasn't able to get much in the way of programming and attempts to get the surround sound working proved fruitless. The bathroom is very nice, with a great walk-in shower, a variety of soap/lotions and everything else you might need to ensure personal cleanliness. The "but..." section: We enjoyed our stay. We feel like it was a good value and lived up to expectations. My only complaint relates to a fact which can't really be improved upon: While the neighborhood is nice and quiet, it's not walkable. You really need a car, someone to drive you around or use of Uber/Lyft. We used Uber/Lyft almost daily in Austin--including once from the property--and it provided reliable, quick and surprisingly (for Austin) affordable service.Besides, that it's a great space that I would recommend to friends & family visiting Austin.
Amazing communication with property owner (helped to later ship forgotten items). An updated, cozy stay in a top rated neighborhood in the country. Thanks for the memories!

My husband & I both love to travel. We have seen a lot of the world together and have dragged our two children (20) and 18) with us since they were babies. We have both lived in Europe. My Mother is German so I have family in Bavaria. I went to high school in Germany & Italy. My husband studied in Germany and speaks fluent German. He now has a legal headhunting firm. I used to work in advertising, but now I'm working in real estate. We love Austin as it is an easy place to live, has an educated community, great food options, shopping, is health conscious and the weather is great except it can be HOT in the summer! We also like to ski! We hope either our apartment in Austin or our home in East Hampton will help you relax!
Why they chose this property
We chose our home because it is historically significant and it located in one of the older neighborhoods of Austin. In building our garage apartment, the historical commission (and good taste) required us to match the architecture of the rest of the house, which involved sourcing brick from the same company and the same place it was first manufactured for the rest our house almost 90 years prior. We love the location of our neighborhood, just one mile west of the UT campus and 1.5 miles from the capitol of Texas.
What makes this property unique
We love our home because it's right in the heart of the city of Austin but it has the charm and ambiance of an old-time house in the country. We love fine details, and we have a lot of them incorporated in our guest apartment, including wood covered ceiling, architectural drama, and first-class cabinet work. Where plumbing is concerned, we think a handheld shower head is key to a great shower, as well as the unlimited hot water one can get from a gas-fired instant hot water heater. Small nooks, fine carpets, a first quality mattress, and great sheets are all things that make us love our place.
