Why Kelly Sebree chose Andros Town
Andros, affectionately referred to as "The Big Yard" is the largest island in The Bahamas, being 140 miles long and 40 miles wide. It is made up of islets and cays, and the main landmass is divided by three "Bights" comprising North, Middle and South Bight. Despite the large mass of undeveloped land, there is a magical natural beauty that Andros provides. Steve and Kelly originally met on Andros Island in 1986, when they were neighbors residing on Fresh Creek, employed by the Atlantic Underwater Test & Evaluation Center. After their departure from Andros, they lived their life dreaming of returning to the islands one day. The birth of Big Bamboo began in 2005, when a property became available on the same Fresh Creek where Steve and Kelly met 30 years before. From an empty lot, Steve and Kelly, along with family and friends, have independently custom designed and personally labored the development of Big Bamboo's two acre estate, specifically created for one small group of connected people who desire an unforgettable nature based out-island experience.

Steve and Kelly were great hosts! They helped make our stay one of our most enjoyable. If we needed anything, they were there to help.
Thanks Kelly and Steve!
Simple the best
We have stayed at VRBOs all over the world and Big Bamboo is the best. Our group was from 75 to 10 and everyone had a blast. Kelly and Steve could not be more accommodating. We will definitely be returning. It is truly like visiting old friends. Our teenage girls were a little unsure of the idea of staying on fresh creek instead of beach front but once we arrived they were so thankful to have the crystal clear calm waters to play in with stand up paddle boards while beach front locations had very choppy water due to island wind. Our little guys fished, crabbed, and conched from sun up until late at night, catching our supper more than once. No one even thought about turning on the TV. Go here for a vacation of a lifetime.
Paradise - wonderful home, waterfront and views with lovely hosts
First of all, the location of the Big Bamboo Villa on Fresh Creek is the best. The scenery of the clear turquoise water is spectacular. The location is sheltered from the stiff Ocean wind we found on the coast. We really enjoyed the gentle breezes along with the sunsets over the water. Plus, we had marine life at our feet. In the Big Bamboo cove we found puffer fish and other colorful tropical fish. We snorkeled in front of Big Bamboo with the snorkel equipment and paddle boards provided. Then, right off the dock we viewed sting rays and starfish. We took the kayak and the motor boat for little excursions up and down Fresh Creek. The dock playground with its slide and swing into the water made it hard to leave to go on our other excursions away from Big Bamboo.
From the very beginning of our trip planning to our departure Kelly’s assistance was appreciated every step of the way. We traveled as a family of 6 with our four adult/teenaged children. My family does not have any fishermen or divers - which Andros is known for, but we could not have asked for a better vacation with the other natural activities of blue hole swimming and snorkeling. Kelly provided a list of food items to check off so that she could pre-stock the pantry and refrigerator before our arrival. If you forget any items, it is likely that Kelly has it in the pantry which guests can use as needed. There are a couple of nearby restaurants that we enjoyed (Hanks and Brigadiers). We opted to rent a car which Kelly arranged for us. We flew into Nassau from the US then a charter flight with GlenAir to Andros Town.
Our arrival to Big Bamboo was so nice. We were welcomed with snacks for the Notre Dame football game which Kelly made sure we would be able to watch. The Big Bamboo Villa was even better than we could have imagined. So comfortable and clean with treasures around every corner. It has the relaxed feeling of being at home – only better because you are in the Bahamas! The bathrooms were modern with large, tiled walk-in showers. The kitchen and grill area were well equipped. The bedrooms were wonderfully themed, and the air conditioning made for comfortable sleeping at night. Our hosts, Kelly and Steve made sure we were always able to contact them. They are so accommodating, and it shows how much they love Andros and have a passion for sharing its natural beauty while providing the perfect resting spot with every detail thought out at Big Bamboo!
Relax and get pampered in this quaint piece of paradise in authentic Bahamian style
We've traveled all over and stayed in all types of places, and this place is by far our favorite. The 2 story house is very nicely decorated and comfortable. It is very spacious and keep sleep 10 very comfortably. They have everything you need and more. You can arrive with just a suitcase. The kitchen is well equipped, with a coffee bar, a snack bar,a fully stocked cocktail bar, a delicious loaf of homemade coconut bread and homemade quava jelly, and unlimited filtered drinking water. The amenities in the rooms include bottled waters, shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, lip balm, bar soap, kleenex, mints, loofa, info brochures and of course, plenty of towels. There is a washer/dryer, ice maker and internet. The wrap around porch is quiet for an afternoon of reading or for a nightly sunset view. The playground outside is well thought out as well. The slide into the water was fun for kids, the in-water tiki hut was what sold me and afternoon cocktails were refreshing under the hut after paddle boarding in the crystal waters of Fresh Creek. The Tiki Beach Bar and Kitchen under the shaded palm trees was our gathering place for morning coffee, delicious homemade Bahamian lobster salad for lunch and succulent Bahamian Cracked Conch and Lobster for dinner. The food was excellent and they were pleased to cook for us. We had authentic Bahamian Mac and Cheese and Cole slaw as well. The owners, Kelly and Steve and the property manager, Dino, aka "Bunny" were a pure delight. Nicest, warmest people ever. When they greeted us, they said they can be as interactive with us as we want; or we can be left alone if we wanted our privacy. We liked them so much, we chose to be interactive with them; but there were times we wanted to relax and they gave us our space. Their warmth and friendliness truly made the experience delightful. I felt we were truly pampered and I have never been more relaxed on any other trip taken. They took care of any special needs we had. We will definitely go back. We went with family and friends this time but I will also go back for a girls retreat weekend. It is also a great place for a guys get-away and do some fly fishing. Kelly and Steve arranged for a guide to take 2 of our guys fly/spinning rod fly fishing and the guide picked them up at the dock to catch bone fish. They had a blast and caught several. Two of us went fishing out of the kayak.
