About Kelly Sebree

Steve and Kelly, a husband and wife team of 24 years, have both been awarded Permanent Residency by the Government of the Bahamas. They are committed to ensuring impeccable delivery of the Bahamian cultural experience to all of their guests. Together, the couple remains personally involved in community based initiatives and also sponsors events at Big Bamboo, including an annual fine art show. Steve is a U.S. Coast Guard Captain and Marine Engineer, originally from Miami, Florida, having decades of experience working in out-island environments throughout The Bahamas. Kelly is a Licensed Psychotherapist, currently providing services for The Ministry of Education in The Bahamas, with over 20 years of clinical experience in organizations and private practice. Originally from up-state New York, Kelly is a certified Ministry of Tourism People-To-People Volunteer Ambassador and provides authentic island experiences for visitors to Andros.

Why Kelly Sebree chose Andros Town

Andros, affectionately referred to as "The Big Yard" is the largest island in The Bahamas, being 140 miles long and 40 miles wide. It is made up of islets and cays, and the main landmass is divided by three "Bights" comprising North, Middle and South Bight. Despite the large mass of undeveloped land, there is a magical natural beauty that Andros provides. Steve and Kelly originally met on Andros Island in 1986, when they were neighbors residing on Fresh Creek, employed by the Atlantic Underwater Test & Evaluation Center. After their departure from Andros, they lived their life dreaming of returning to the islands one day. The birth of Big Bamboo began in 2005, when a property became available on the same Fresh Creek where Steve and Kelly met 30 years before. From an empty lot, Steve and Kelly, along with family and friends, have independently custom designed and personally labored the development of Big Bamboo's two acre estate, specifically created for one small group of connected people who desire an unforgettable nature based out-island experience.

Although Big Bamboo is in a distinctively sequestered setting, our location places guests within minutes of the Andros Town Airport, Fresh Creek settlement and surrounding communities. With a Villa on pilings design, perched high in the sky and overlooking panoramic views of aquamarine waters along Fresh Creek, gardens and groves filled with tropical landscaping, a private waterfront playground to do everything or nothing, and a wide range of included indoor, outdoor and sporting amenities, our guests may never want to leave. Big Bamboo showcases their attention to Bahamian fine art and local craft, boats and maritime, flying and fishing, brightly colored themed rooms and an atmospere that promotes rest and relaxation, fun and adventure for everyone.
