About Kristen Hoke

My name is Kristen Hoke and I built this home in the year 2000, fulfilling a life long dream to design and build a home in the mountains. I lived in New Mexico as a child and returned here again in 1986. I have been an Emergency Room nurse for most of my life until recently and am now pursuing my love for textiles through my own business Posh By Gosh, Inc. My passions are traveling, design, music, and nature.

This photo was taken with my dear friends' children, Alexandre and Claire, who were visiting from France.

Kristen Hoke purchased this house in 2000

Why Kristen Hoke chose New Mexico

I was drawn to this particular area after house-sitting for a friend years ago. In my search for land in 1999, my realtor brought me out here (by my surprise) and I knew as soon as I drove up on top of my knoll that I had found my spot. I love that it is close and an easy drive to town but that it feels like you are miles from nowhere!

What makes this house unique

I love the setting for its' beauty and tranquility. It is a true haven and special place.

Breath taking views, peace and quite, artistic home

  • 5 of 5

So much character in this home, we absolutely loved it! My favorite feature in the house was utilizing the hot tube while the sun was setting, so lovely. I definitely recommend this home to anyone.

Magical, secluded perfection!

  • 5 of 5

We loved every minute of our five-night stay here. The house is both spacious and intimate, with fantastic views, LOTS of privacy, and tons of comfort. The kitchen is very well stocked and ready for cooking just about anything. The living/dining room have huge windows and a beautiful airiness, while the bedrooms are cozy, romantic, and inviting. Kristen's artistry is evident in the interior design and beautiful decor. We loved being outdoors; all the patios had gorgeous views and the air was clean and fragrant with the pinon pines. The trampoline was so much fun! While the house is on a mountain off of a very private road, it is close to creature comforts: Harry's Road House restaurant (which we enjoyed at dinner and again the next day for breakfast); some lovely hiking trails; and downtown Santa Fe. Kristen's beautiful home has our highest recommendation.

The Mescalero House made our silver anniversary shine!

  • 5 of 5

We chose The Mescalero House as a special get-a-way for our 25th wedding anniversary, and it couldn't have been more enchanting. From the exceptional setting to the unique design and decor of the home, it was the perfect place to find relaxation, and inspiration. The eclectic mix of cultures represented in the decor was so delightful, and artfully done. The interior was open and airy, and very comfortable, and the exterior areas provided the perfect spots for relaxing and reflecting under the New Mexico sky. In fact, after wandering downtown Santa Fe looking for a place for our anniversary dinner, we opted instead to return to the house and have pizza on the patio! It was perfect.

And speaking of perfect, Kristen was, hands down, the best host we've ever had the pleasure to meet during our stays through VRBO. She was helpful and attentive, responsive to any questions we had, and contributed greatly to the overall fabulous experience of our stay. Thank you so very much, Kristen! We will be back!

Very unique home

  • 5 of 5

My husband and just retuned from staying in Kristen's beautiful home. Kristen was always quick to tespond to our questions and very easy to work with. As she has so many beatiful things in her home it is not child friendly. Make sure to arrive during the day as this comfy home is secluded and nestled down non-paved roads. Even though the house is in a wonderfully quiet area of Santa Fe, it is only a short 20 minute drive to town.We made many meals in her very well appointed kitchen. There is a Trader Joes on the way to her home from the airport as well as a closer grocery store. This was a very relaxing place to stay. Loved it it, loved it, loved it!
