About Kristen Hoke

My name is Kristen Hoke and I built this home in the year 2000, fulfilling a life long dream to design and build a home in the mountains. I lived in New Mexico as a child and returned here again in 1986. I have been an Emergency Room nurse for most of my life until recently and am now pursuing my love for textiles through my own business Posh By Gosh, Inc. My passions are traveling, design, music, and nature.

This photo was taken with my dear friends' children, Alexandre and Claire, who were visiting from France.

Kristen Hoke purchased this house in 2000

Why Kristen Hoke chose Santa Fe

I was drawn to this particular area after house-sitting for a friend years ago. In my search for land in 1999, my realtor brought me out here (by my surprise) and I knew as soon as I drove up on top of my knoll that I had found my spot. I love that it is close and an easy drive to town but that it feels like you are miles from nowhere!

What makes this house unique

I love the setting for its' beauty and tranquility. It is a true haven and special place.

My wife and I have used VRBO at least a dozen times and this is by far the best place we gave ever stayed at. It was likely the best part of our trip. Kristen is very responsive and accommodating.

We will definitely return to recharge our batteries next year!

Outstanding from A to Z

  • 5 of 5

The house is everything you see on the pictures and frankly, it's even more. The details of the lighting, furnishing and layout of the house, truly bring the experience of the visit of Santa Fe to a whole new experience. It's wonderful for kids. Has a trampoline, tee-pee, etc. But it's also extremely adult friendly with a jacuzzi, cozy night lighting, fireplaces, outdoor terrace, etc. All the way to the kitchen ware, the feeling of love in the home is felt in every corner and every detail.

What makes it even more special, is the wonderful reception, treatment and service of Kristen. She truly gives you the feeling you are staying is your best friend's home. She did what we have seen no one else do. She welcomed us in person and showed us around the house, guiding us to even to how use the locking mechanism of the door. She even followed up two days later to see how we were doing. Most other experiences we have, you barely get an instruction email ahead of time.

We will definitely be back and recommend 100% you book this home if you are looking at this comment. You will enjoy every moment of your stay.

Great secluded gem

  • 5 of 5

My family and I traveled by vehicle to Sante Fe for the first time for a vacation and decided to rent a house instead of a hotel We found this beautiful adobe house on the VRBO site When we arrived Kristen met us at the driveway. She explained everything we needed to know to have a great time at her custom home she built. The gravel road is a little long and rough getting to the house but once your there it’s worth it. The views are great. Set on ridge in the ponderosa pines has been designed by Kristen with her artistic ability from her heart this is why we chose this house it appealed to our artistic hearts. Three nice bedrooms two bathrooms a walk in shower she tiled herself hot tub trampoline the tee pee and the outside patio are some of the features we really enjoyed. There is no ac but the cool nites up there kept the adobe comfortable. We ate at the Roadhouse restaurant which was good and very close to the house. Sante Fe plaza is about 20-25 min away Which has all the restaurants and shopping. Overall we highly recommend this property and you will like the owner Kristen Hoke she was very pleasant she made us feel at home Thanks again Kristen we will see you again. Chris

A Stunning property with everything you could want to have a great vacation!

  • 5 of 5

This property is exactly as described, simply amazing. The Owner designed the home and had a neighbor construct her (and now your) dream home. The exposed bricks, in specific places on the interior walls gives the coolest effect - the large bricks resemble wood blocks. The kitchen and dining areas are directly connected, humongous, and just perfect for a meal of an evening in.

There are numerous outdoor lounging areas to have breakfast, wine & cheese and enjoy the usually perfect weather that the SF area usually boasts.

We lucked into short rain showers on a few days, causing superb rainbow viewing.

The beds are wonderful (the 2 that we used). The master shower is an amazing piece of artistry that actually works too!

The grill and hot tub performed perfectly for the evenings we utilized them.

As suggested by the Owner, keeping the windows closed (while away) during the hot parts of the day keeps the adobe structure cool for the evenings.

We traveled to downtown SF, 20 min, Taos, an hour, Red River, Toad plus 25 min. Geat trips. We visited the Kasha-Katuwe Tent Rocks National Monument, SW of SF, a superb hike with killer rock formations. Take TONS of water (hot days) as there is no soda fountain at the top 1.5 miles up. Wear real shoes (not flip flops) as this can be a seriously slippery climb, but so worth it.

We golfed at PaaKo Ridge twice, amazing place - worth the price of admission. We golfed at Cochiti Golf Club in Cochiti Lake, a Robert Trent Jones stunner with inexpensive rates! A winner.

Enjoy if you go. 5 Stars. Rob

My family spent a wonderful week at this beautiful home.

  • 5 of 5

The views from this adobe home were incredible. Any concerns about adobe versus air conditioning were put to rest after one cool, quiet night. The trampoline and hot tub made hanging out at the house even more fun. A nice network of hiking trails is accessible off of the back of house. Highly recommended.

The home is beautiful, artistic, and comfortable. The property is tranquilly located away from the city, idyllic for a getaway. The house is well stocked with all we needed for our vacation, spices, cookware, towels, washer and dryer. Homeowner is very thoughtful, prompt, and helpful.
