About the property

1 Bedroom * 1 Bath * Sleeps 2-4

Welcome to Mountain Cove Cabins, which include our Brook Trout and Black Bear Cabin. These “true log” cabins are located in the heart of the North Georgia Mountain wine country and in the foothills of the Blue Ridge National Forest. They are definitely the perfect vacation destination for folks looking to be at the epicenter of mountain festivities – while enjoying the beauty and solitude of the Appalachian Mountains.

The cabins are next door to the waterfalls and swimming holes of Waters Creek, the AT access on Blood Mountain and the historic Turner’s Corners Café. Located smack-dab between Helen and Dahlonega, Cleveland and Blairsville, there are endless mountain activities to explore. There are 8 vineyards within a 15-mile radius with Frogtown and Three Sisters only 5 miles down the road.

The cabins are in the National Forest off of Hwy 19. You will turn off of 19 on to a beautiful one lane paved road that winds back into the mountains beside a creek and several waterfalls. You’ll go 1.5 miles until you see an old log cabin with a big pine knot and a garden on your left. Turn left and drive up the mountain. If you don’t turn left you will dead-end into the National Forest and possibly be eaten by a bear.

Newly renovated, decorated and accommodated for welcomed guests, the cabins have a nice log queen-size bed, foldout couch, flat-screen TV, standard kitchen with new appliances and a remodeled bathroom. Laundry services can be provided with advanced notice. Each cabin has a porch with rocking chairs that looks out over the forest. There are seasonal mountain views and a creek below the cabins.

Go hiking, fishing, rafting, gold panning, swimming, biking, horseback riding, wine tasting, golfing, tubing or just relaxing in the rocking chairs on the porch. We sincerely hope that you enjoy these precious little mountain getaways as much as we have enjoyed growing up here.

About owner/property manager

We are what folks call - 'Nuggets', which is a slang term for the local mountain folks. Mark & I grew up in the mountains of northern Lumpkin County, waited a long time to get married and finally tied the knot a few years ago. We are parents to a beautiful, smart and funny 3 year old, one spoiled rotten diva-mutt and a grouchy 20 year old cat. We waited a long time to get married so that we could travel the world and wanted to give back to the wanderlust spirit by opening our cabins to people of the same heart. While we do not travel as much now, we continue to spend our free time playing in the woods of the beautiful mountains we call home.

Why owner/property manager chose Dahlonega

Because its home. It’s where we were raised, where our ancestors were raised and we'd love nothing more than to share the beauty of our home with you!

What makes this cabin unique

We know every creek, mountain, waterfall, pawpaw patch and blueberry bush on these mountains. If you'd like to see something that no one else knows about - we know where it is. Just ask us.

Perfect!

  • 5 of 5

The cabin itself was just perfect. Very clean with all of the modern necessities to make us very comfortable. We wanted just a quiet mini-vacation away from everything and that was exactly what we got. We will definitely consider going again.

Great cozy cabin, perfect for a weekend getaway.

  • 5 of 5

I had a mixup with some dates and the owner was more than accommodating. We also ran into a small issue finding the cabin and once again the owner was very polite and helpful. The cabin was clean and everything was functional and perfect. I would highly recommend this place for anyone looking for a quiet getaway!

Quiet get away

  • 5 of 5

This was trip number three for me to this destination. Brooke is great With quick responses to questions. The cabin is nestled on a hillside away from distractions. I was here to study and write this visit and the spot is perfect. And still, the cabin comes with conveniences like WiFi. Also, close to trails and wineries for my mid-afternoon breaks. Thanks for keeping a great little get away spot!

Cozy and quiet

  • 5 of 5

This is a great place to stay away from town, but not so far that you can't go there if you want. Tucked up on a hillside it is easy to get to but feels like you are in the middle of the forest. The cabin is a cozy place to relax with a good book and a nice local glass of wine.

Quiet Perfection

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I loved our stay here. Our trip was kind of spur of the moment and the fast response was greatly appreciated. The cabin was perfect and every detail was anticipated by the owner ,Brooke. It was cool rainy weather but the cabin was warm and cozy and amazingly quiet. There are a few homes nearby but after that, the cabin is in a remote area. We didn't hear traffic or people or airplanes. Nada. The bed was comfortable and so was the couch and recliner! There are many wineries nearby and we chose Three Sisters Vineyards to visit as we had our little dog Lilly with us and they were pet friendly. Maria bought two bottles of wine that she fell in love with. The area is beautiful even by North Georgia standards. If you want peace and quiet yet still want a range of things to do nearby then I highly recommend either the Bear or Trout cabin.
