About the property

3 Bedroom 3 Bath, Cabin On The Edge Of The Nantahala National Forest In Nc

Cozy and tastefully decorated mountain home, located just 1.5 hours from Asheville, two hours from Atlanta and Greenville SC, and 3 hours from Charlotte NC.

This cabin is just minutes from hiking on the Appalachian and Bartram trails, with breathtaking southern views of the Blue Ridge Mountains in NC and GA.

This cabin features livable porches, a huge rear deck, two claw foot tubs for out door soaking, a hot tub that fits 4 adults and an outdoor shower. Nearby activities include hiking, antiquing, waterfalls, golf, paddling, swimming (in the new Macon County water park); dining, and entertainment at the Smokey Mountain Center for Performing Arts. For short day excursions visit Highlands, Dillsboro , Sylva, and Cashiers. The Great Smokey Mountain National Park is only 45 minutes away. Two new breweries in Franklin are so convenient after a hike, paddle or antiquing. Lazy Hiker and Currahee Brewing Company are both great choices. We suggest you try both!!!

The master bedroom features a king bed, and a child's day bed, with French doors that open to a screened in porch and view. The second bedroom has a queen bed, and the third loft bedroom, a full size bed.

There is a beautiful wood burning fire place in the family room, fully equipped kitchen, and large farm table in the dining room. The deck off of the living room has a dining table with 4 chairs (nice for enjoying the view).

About Brenda Guglielmina

Our family purchased this property in 2008 for weekend escapes into nature and out of the city heat. We love to to entertain family and friends in our cabin, and continue to explore the area. Every season has its own special beauty and character and we take advantage of the region year round.

Brenda Guglielmina purchased this cabin in 2008

Why Brenda Guglielmina chose Otto

This property exemplifies the unique and rich biological diversity of the Southern Appalachian Mountains. Just east of the cabin in a hollow is a pure stand of yellow poplar trees, thus the name 'Poplar Cove'. A path to the west of the cabin wanders through a rhododendron to more surprise views. Early morning brings turkeys, grazing deer, and song birds. Its naturalist's delight!

What makes this cabin unique

Proximity to Atlanta, quiet, and cool. The elevation (3200 feet), combined with the shade and cooling effect of tree leaves, results in an average 12 degree

decrease in daytime temperatures.

Four person Hot Tub with view of the mountains!!

All the outdoor living spaces - its almost like camping with all the comforts of home.

Closeness to an abundance of hiking trails.

Wonderful Experience

  • 5 of 5

This was our second time staying at this cabin. The whole family was able to sprawl out on the comfy couches and feel cozy by the fire. The view is fantastic and the bedrooms are very nice. The cabin is clean. The gravel road up the mountain is steep. We thought it was fun. We had no problem getting up and down, though we did have all wheel drive. The tap water is super good. We went snow tubing at Scaly Mountain which was about 20 minutes from the cabin, and went hiking to some waterfalls. Franklin was 15-20 minutes away and satisfied our shopping needs. Our kids loved the loft. The bed was really comfortable and the bathroom's are top notch quality!

Best view ever! Best shower of my life!

  • 5 of 5

We have rented many homes in the NC mountains, but this one, wow, what an incredibly beautiful view. Mountains for miles and miles. Rolling clouds...incredibly magical to watch. Oh, and the bat living on the main porch under the barometer. I would wait until dusk to watch him fly out. We saw deer every day on our way up and down the mountain. Rescued a turtle, saw the chickens and cute baby cow. Soooo many butterflies and birds. My favorite moments were taking a shower surrounded by the sweet hum of bees in the flowers overhead. Took many naps, played poker with my family: my dad, the silver fox, he he...Jim, my other half, my 20 yr old daughter and college sophomore, and Cynthia, the best of all of 3, tee hee. We relaxed, then we white water rafted, and gem mined, then relaxed some more. Beautiful home. Only improvement that I would make is the power of the wifi. Everyone has a device. Also, a hammock outside would be incredible on lower porch. Check out the Lazy Hiker brew pub in Franklin and the farmers market and local creamery near Dillard.

Elegant and isolated

  • 5 of 5

My girlfriend and I stayed in this cabin in late October. The road leading to the cabin is pretty steep but my 2WD car made it up and down just fine - I can imagine it'd be a more harrowing experience if there were a lot of wet leaves on the ground. The cabin itself is beautiful. Like another reviewer said, there are seeds of rustic cabin feel but it's decorated in a well-appointed, modern way. We didn't really appreciate how large the main room is until we got there: the lofted ceiling makes the cabin feel much larger than its footprint. The kitchen is well-equipped and had everything one would need to cook for several people. The three bedrooms are starkly different: upstairs is a very nice, cozy loft; the ground floor has a traditional bedroom; and the basement has an expansive bedroom that feeds into an enclosed sunroom that has a view of the mountains.

That view is spectacular - even in summer the trees shouldn't obstruct it. We got to watch the fog of morning slowly lift through the day. While sitting out on one of the decks it's very quiet and peaceful unless there is a car going up/down that gravel road which usually takes a few minutes. Finally, the cabin is within an hour of many great hiking trails. The owners have kept a stockpile of maps and guides that were very helpful in helping us choose which hike to go on. There is also wifi if you need internet access. We really enjoyed this cabin and felt it could comfortably hold more than just the two of us. The location is great, and the view is as advertised. Thanks to the owners for letting us into their home!

Fall Getaway

  • 5 of 5

The house is a great combination of cabin and nice cottage. The furniture and decor are classy rather than overly "mountain cabin." Loved the wood fireplace and the outdoor tubs (it is a bit cold at this point though....). We arrived at night and were able to find it easily with the detailed directions. Went to the grocery store and cooked for 3 days instead of going out - it was relaxing so much fun:) The view was spectacular of the mountains during the day and the stars at night! Internet was great and allowed me to complete some work while I was there (just a little.)

Couple from Georgia

We very much enjoyed our stay. The views are breathtaking. We really enjoyed our mornings in the tubs. Only complaint was that the tubs were filthy. Apparently cleaning service didn't clean them. We spent about 30 minutes scrubbing them. But it was worth it. Very relaxing. Owners were great to work with. Would definitely go back to this cabin. Also, the bed was super comfortable.
