World famous Hanalei Bay, voted the number one beach in America, is less than 200 yards away and will provide you with the ultimate beach-going experience. Take in the sunrise, waterfalls, rainbows, boats, surfers, Bali Hai sunsets and incredible ocean beauty. Bay activities include: snorkeling, kayaking, swimming, surfing, bodyboarding, hiking, walking, jogging, and, of course, relaxing.

From the large covered lanai, you can watch the Waioli river flow by on its way to the Bay. Enjoy an incredibly romantic sunset as the sun disappears behind the NaPali Coast line, or gaze at one of the largest and oldest monkey pod trees on the island and ponder its strength as it has withstood multiple tsunamis and three hurricanes. The home's interior invites you to relax. The gourmet kitchen includes all stainless steel appliances, granite countertops, and cherry cabinets. There are two large king bed bedroom suites, each with closet, private toilet, bath tub and shower and vaulted ceilings with fans. Additionally, one of the suites has a top-bunk twin bed.

Historic Hanalei town is a five to 10 minute walk away. Excellent restaurants, quaint shops, grocery and health food stores, farmer's markets, activities desks, yoga, Pilates, day spa, massage, surf shops and churches are all conveniently located in Hanalei town. Princeville resort and spa are just a five minute drive up the hill, offering you three world class golf courses, tennis and a day spa.

This home is perfect for families up to five or one to two couples with or without children.

Why Lauren Benton chose North Shore

Having lived in multiple houses/locations in Hanalei we realized it's rare to find a home that isn't right next door to another. While this home is adjacent to another home, it's also adjacent to a 1/2 acre lot that rolls down to the Waioli Stream and offers beautiful views, a peaceful setting and a feeling of being a bit away from it all (even though you're right in town and a couple blocks from the beach).

What makes this house unique

Loving Life in HanaleiTown

This is a very sweet home, very comfortable, nicely appointed. Had everything we needed, and then some! Really great that the owners provide beach towels, chairs, umbrella, snorkel gear, kids' beach toys, etc. - and a wagon to haul it all in! We made good use of the bikes. The beds are very comfortable, and all the linens were wonderful. We got the farmers' market on Saturday, and the kitchen is well stocked and great for cooking. We sat on the lanai in the mornings with coffee, and sometimes during afternoon rainshowers. Did get one beautiful rainbow one afternoon. The adjoining lot is for sale, but for the time being there is an unobstructed view to the river. If you like Kaua'i's North Shore, this is a excellent place to stay.

Heaven in Hanalei

This house was perfect for our quick trip to Kauai. Just big enough for 4 of us with Luxury bedding, furniture, linens, and a well stocked kitchen. The view off the deep and beautiful lanai out towards the river was unparalleled. We did notice that this vast open space is for sale, I hope it doesn't effect this view as we sat on the porch watching rainbows and sunsets every night! We were provided bikes and beach gear so didn't need to rent anything additional and enjoyed biking to coffee in the AM and an easy stroll around the corner to the sandy public beach. It was also pretty close to "pine trees", a point break for more serious surfers, which was a bonus for us. I'll come back again for sure!

Telluride in Hanalei

Place was perfect for us! We, along with 16 other families from Telluride brought our high-school seniors to Hanalei for spring break. We were a stones throw away from the beach and other families - kids could walk or bike anywhere to hook up with their pals. We loved the wide-open lanai facing the open-space yard on the river and privacy of being last house on the road before the bridge.

Place was immaculate and all amenities and appointments were provided. Even had snorkel gear and bikes to use. Beds were extremely comfortable and kitchen well-appointed.

I would recommend alerting guests to purchase ice as icemakers are ineffective in a hot climate.

Lauren and her team at Inside Kauai were extremely helpful in preparation of our arrival and attentive during our stay. We will definitely look to stay here again in the future.

Fantastic vacation in Hanalei Bay

My husband and I stayed here for 10 days to get away from it all and to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary. The house has 2 bedrooms and 2 1/2 bathrooms, however we only used one (other than storing our luggage in the second bedroom). House was great, had everything we needed. The extra fans were helpful since we had a few unusually warm nights. I loved having my morning coffee on the deck and hearing the roosters waking up. Very peaceful. The house is on the main road, but is off to the side so I never felt visible sitting out there in pj's. The close neighbors are around to the back and side (not river facing) so we never saw any people unless we were in the kitchen, and even then it was rare. We ate most meals on the deck and having the outdoor grill was especially nice. Very close to walk to the beach and I loved the secluded beach! At 7 am I'd see maybe 2 or 3 other people on the entire beach as I ran to the pier and back. Even in the heat of the afternoon it was never crowded. The lack of riverfront access based on another review had me worried, as our goal was to paddleboard to the beach every day. However, it was a complete non-issue. Even if we had access, I doubt we would have gone to the trouble of renting SUP's, a car rack, and lugging them back and forth to this river. We rarely saw any kayaks/canoes/SUP's on this river...maybe a local person every now and then, and I'm guessing it's because the water is pretty rough where the river empties into the bay, and it looked like the river became quite narrow with a low bridge if you were to head up river. We were able to SUP every day of the vacation and it worked well to rent from Kayak Hanalei, which is right on the Hanalei River. They gave us a 7 day rental, where we paid for 5 days. Very convenient and we could come and go whenever. Up river was pretty but we preferred padding to the beach so I could beach myself using the board as a tanning bed while my husband could paddle around the bay. Overall a fantastic place to stay for our trip. All that being said, we did see a For Sale sign go up on the empty lot in front of the river while we were there so hopefully whoever buys it won't develop it.

No river access or front lawn anymore

We (2 adults, 1 child) stayed here for 4 nights last month. It's a nice, well-kept, and well-equipped house and currently has a nice view of the river and mountains from the living room and one of the bedrooms. But be aware that the big lot between the house and the river (what the listing describes as "the front lawn") is no longer part of the property. It's recently been sold. We were excited based on the descriptions from the reviews here about taking a kayak or SUP to the beach, so it was super disappointing when Lauren emailed us the day we checked in saying we could not use the grassy area right in front of the house and could not access the river at all. We probably would have rented another place if we had known the lawn and river were now "look, don't touch" , so I hope I'm catching future renters in time as the description of the property still talks up "river access" and front yard. That's not correct. It's still just a short trip to the beach and to town, which is nice, but your only way to do that now is by walking/biking along the highway. Also not apparent from the description online is that all the current neighbors are really close -- the kitchen and living room windows look right at someone else's front door. And the windows in one of the bedrooms is flush with the neighbor's driveway. Once the owners of the empty lot build their place, this one will be really boxed in. Which brings up another point. I would imagine the owners of the river lot will be doing construction soon, so keep that risk in mind when deciding where to stay. The property line ends just a few feet from the front porch so the construction work could be really close.

Owner's Response: The lot next door is still owned by the same person and they have owned it for many years without building on it - we do not expect that to change anytime soon. We do ask that renters respect the neighbor's property and not use it without permission. Of course if our neighbor did decide to build on this lot we would let any future renters know beforehand. Regarding access to the ocean and river for kayak's and SUP boards it is literally 2 short blocks away - just a few minute walk along slow roads with large grass "sidewalks". The homes right on hanalei beach go for $2,000 - $10,000 a night. Waioli Hale has many of the same (and often higher grade) amenities, like a Weber grill, new, high-quality, comfortable mattresses/pillows, high thread-count sheets, modern appliances and cookware, etc. etc.). We and our past renters feel our home is one of the best deals on the Island and our 30 reviews and 5-star average speaks for itself. The comment about having to walk along a "highway" to get to the beach made us laugh - it is a slow island road (one lane each way) with a speed limit of 25 mph and people rarely go that fast (especially near our home where they have to slow down for the single lane bridge). Plus there is a large grassy sidewalk the whole way that feels great on bare feet. The gorgeous views of the NaPali Coast, the Waoili Stream and the half acre open area are certainly still available (and will continue to be so as long as those natural wonders exist). We have many, many repeat renters and one of the best reviewed homes in Hanalei. It is true that this house, and almost every house in Hanalei, is fairly close to other homes. This is a beach community and if you look on google maps satellite view you will see that all the homes in the area are close together. Our home is built to code with similar distance to neighboring homes, but one of the huge advantages of Waioli Hale is that it only has a home on one side (vs. 3 which is more common), and has the large, empty lot for the whole front of the home, including lanai. Everyone in the area is very respectful and we have great neighbors so renters have not had an issue with this in the past (see our many, many 5-star reviews over the years).
