This is roughly the 10th cabin we have rented over the years and it is hands down the best. Carl has thought of everything you would need to have an awesome trip. Our party was really impressed with his story of building the cabin and we loved the detail that was throughout. I would recommend this cabin to anyone who was looking for a place to stay that really offered you the option to spend your entire trip their.
This house is truly delightful. I can't think of anything negative to say--except that you may not want to leave after your time is done! We were coming to Lake Lure for a family reunion. Most of the other family members were staying at Lake Lure Inn, but I wanted a house for our family of three. I looked through many many options, and while I was hopeful that this house would be good, it is always hard to tell for sure just by pictures and descriptions on a website.
It was a long drive for us down to NC, and after 9 hours on the road we were a bit grumpy and more than a bit tired of being in the car. All of that faded away as we pulled into the driveway, drove down through a wooded area, and got our first sight of the house. It looked even better than the photos. There are so many special, unique touches that make this house a stand out. We marveled at Carl's workmanship the entire time. The house was very clean, very well stocked, comfortable and fun! It is obvious that the owners put great thought into the house and really care about their guests. There was more than enough space for two adults and one child and I can easily imagine up to six people being very comfortable here.
We enjoyed the theater room downstairs-except the seating was so comfortable I found I had a hard time staying awake for the whole movie! The waterfall is great--the sound of the running water really added to the feeling of being away from it all. But we were very close to the grocery store, and the Lake Lure beach, so it felt like the best of both worlds. All of the outside amenities were great--there was quite a bit of outdoor game equipment as well as the zip line which was a big hit with both our little boy and our big one (aka my husband). I liked sitting on the swing looking at the waterfall, listening to the frogs and birds, and watching the rabbits and wild turkeys that would venture into the yard if it was quiet. We didn't use the bonfire set up as we were there in the hot summer, but I would love to return in the fall and enjoy that.
The owners were incredibly responsive and helpful. All of my initial pre-booking questions were answered within hours, and they were easily accessible during our stay for any questions. I would absolutely stay here again if we ever go back to Lake Lure, and I can recommend this property without hesitation. Our extended family members who stayed at the inn were more than a little envious of our accommodations!
My husband and I spent three nights for a belated anniversary get-away and could not have been happier with our choice of lodging. The cabin was very clean. The owner, Carl, met us when we arrived and gave us a detailed tour. Carl built the cabin himself and answered our questions about all the gorgeous details. For instance, the kitchen counter is made from reclaimed wood from a barn in New Jersey. He showed us how to operate the impressive technology, especially for the media room. We slept in the king bed downstairs and it was very comfortable. We cooked in all three nights and the well appointed kitchen had everything we needed to make our chosen meals. We had inclement weather one day and spent most of the day relaxing in the cabin and enjoyed the amenities. The next day was beautiful so we climbed Chimney Rock, walked the nature trail by Lake Lure next to the welcome center, and took a one hour pontoon boat tour of the lake. Bridget and Carl were very nice and helpful. We recommend this cabin without reservation. We hope to return and will bring our two sons next time.
We spent 3 nights with our 2 daughters , 8 & 10, for a long weekend to explore Lake Lure and Chimney Rock. The cabin is beautiful and hand built by Carl. The entire property is immaculate and fully equipped in both the kitchen and bathrooms. The beds were very comfortable. It is located in the most peaceful setting and surrounded by trees. We really did feel like we were in our own little world! Not to worry though, the Ingles supermarket and Lake activities are a quick trip down the road and the home is fully wired for all sorts of technology. The girls loved the zip line and we enjoyed playing croquet and horseshoes in the evening and just sitting with a glass of wine on the deck. The movie room (complete with popcorn and candy!!) was a real treat. And a highlight for the kids was the upstairs bathroom!!
Carl and Bridget were wonderful to work with and despite us not needing to contact them for any issues I'm confident any would have been resolved in a timely manner. They have really gone to great lengths to make this property a perfect getaway. Thanks Carl and Bridget!
Not only is the cabin immaculate, cool, creative, well appointed, and in a super convenient location...the owner's hospitality was warm and accomodating. Thanks Carl and Bridget...we really enjoyed our time at your cabin!
