About this property
Private home inside Yosemite's gates in Wawona: hot tub, A/C, Starlink
Stay inside Yosemite National Park at The Wildernest Yosemite, a private home in the Wawona forest, renovated in 2025. No entrance lines: you're already in the park. Three bedrooms, two baths, a private hot tub under the pines, A/C in every room and Starlink Wi-Fi.
DRIVE TIMES Wawona Swinging Bridge: 6 min Wawona Stables: 6 min Mariposa Grove: 8 min Chilnualna Falls: 10 min Yosemite Valley: 45 min
Ellie & Drew are a message away throughout your stay. Our local team (housekeeping and a handyman) handles urgent on-site issues. For life-threatening or fire emergencies, call 911.
Wawona is Yosemite's quiet southern corner: giant sequoias, the South Fork of the Merced River and a pioneer history village, far from the Valley crowds. The Wildernest is one of very few private homes in the park, set in the forest with no immediate neighbors, so evenings are still, dark and full of stars. Dining in the park is limited, so pick up groceries or takeout in Oakhurst on your way in, or stock up at Pine Tree Market (10 min). Please follow park guidelines and leave no trace.
The whole home is yours, inside and out, including the deck, hot tub and forest yard. A few storage closets stay locked for housekeeping.
LIVING ROOM High ceilings, an oversized sectional layered with throws and a 65" smart TV. It opens to the kitchen and dining table, so whoever is cooking stays part of the conversation.
KITCHEN & COFFEE Stone counters, gas range and oven, dishwasher, SMEG toaster, blender, rice cooker, and the pots, bakeware and good knives to cook real meals. Spices, oils and pantry basics are stocked, and filtered water is on tap. Coffee five ways: drip, pour-over, French press, cold brew and moka pot, with a grinder, Fellow kettle, ground coffee, teas, milk and sweeteners.
THE DEN Down the spiral staircase, a second living room with a smart TV and a queen sofa bed opens to the backyard and the third bedroom.
BEDROOMS King, queen and queen, one with its own bathroom. Organic cotton sheets, plush duvets, a pillow menu (memory foam or down-alternative), blackout shades, sound machines, and wardrobes with luggage racks.
BATHROOMS Tiled walk-in showers and heated Japanese bidets. Non-toxic shampoo, conditioner, body wash and lotion, a full towel set for every guest, a spa towel for the hot tub and a waffle-cotton robe.
OUTDOORS A large deck off the living room and two bedrooms, with an L-shaped sectional, outdoor dining and a BBQ. Steps away, the hot tub looks into the forest. Beyond it, a wooded yard with a seasonal creek runs into the park itself.
FOR LITTLE ONES Pack 'n play, high chair, baby bathtub, and board and card games. Sign into your own streaming accounts on either TV.
ALSO HERE Washer and dryer with detergent. Ethernet as well as Wi-Fi.
Driveway parking for up to 3 vehicles; RVs and boats fit in the larger space. Wawona General Store (5 min) has basics, gas and an EV charger. A car is the easiest way to explore. Park shuttles are limited and seasonal, so check the NPS Yosemite website for current routes.
ARRIVAL & ACCESS The last stretch is a private, unpaved forest road, part of what keeps the home so quiet. AWD/4WD is highly recommended, and winter conditions may require chains. Snowstorms can make the road impassable and may result in cancellation. There is no cell service and GPS is unreliable, so download directions before you go and plan to arrive before sundown. Interior spiral stairs and exterior steps may not suit guests with limited mobility.
CHECK-IN & CHECK-OUT Check-in 4pm. Check-out 10am. The home is professionally cleaned between stays, with sanitized bedding and pillows, and every turnover is photo-verified with CHAI Verified before you arrive.
CAMERAS & MONITORING Exterior-only security cameras (video and audio) are at the doorbell, front and back of the home. In the woods they help us confirm the home is ready for you after snow, fallen trees or storm damage. A smoke, occupancy, temperature and noise-level monitor is in the main living room for your safety. There is no video or audio recording of any kind indoors.
NATURE & INSECTS We treat the perimeter with organic insect control, but you are staying in a forest and animals are part of the experience.
HOUSE RULES 1) No pets. Service animals are welcome in accordance with ADA guidelines. 2) Fire safety: wildfire risk in Yosemite is extremely high. No smoking of any kind anywhere on the property. No campfires or open flames. Never leave the BBQ unattended; turn it off and let it cool completely. Fire extinguishers are in the kitchen and near the BBQ. 3) No parties or additional guests. Maximum 8 guests. 4) Please wipe or remove shoes inside; use the outdoor shoe rack for hiking boots and wet shoes. 5) Lock the house whenever you leave, and keep windows and doors closed so animals and insects stay outside. 6) Never leave food or trash outside or in your car. It attracts bears. 7) Turn off each room's heating/cooling unit when you head out and at check-out. 8) Quiet hours 10pm–8am. 9) Park only in the designated driveway spaces, off the main road. 10) Please tell us about any stains or damage. The sooner we know, the sooner we can fix it for the next guests.

Highest recommendation! House is located IN the park — NO entrance lines! Clean, aesthetic, COMFORTABLE. Very quiet property. Wonderful hot tub. Extremely close to a general store for essentials, and a gas station. Hosts were invaluable in terms of park planning on all fronts (itinerary, logistics, troubleshooting), both in terms of frequent messaging and an amazing park guide that went with us EVERYWHERE. Have told friends about this place, and we will be back!

An Absolutely Amazing Stay at The Wildernest Yosemite!
The Wildernest Yosemite was truly a gem! From the moment we walked through the door, we were welcomed by the fresh, clean, and inviting scent of the cabin. It immediately felt like stepping into our own home—cozy, comfortable, peaceful, and beautifully clean.
The cabin is open and airy, yet every space has such a warm and cozy feel. We’ve never experienced a cabin in the woods that combines this level of luxury, comfort, and attention to detail while still feeling so connected to nature. It truly has everything you could possibly need, with all the comforts and amenities of home.
Ellie and Drew were absolutely wonderful—so responsive, attentive, and thoughtful throughout our entire stay. They made us feel genuinely welcomed and cared for.
We highly recommend experiencing Yosemite at The Wildernest Yosemite! It’s the perfect place to disconnect, relax, and enjoy the beauty of nature without giving up the comforts of home. We’re already looking forward to coming back every chance we get! ❤️🌲🏡
Beautiful spot, amazing property, plus a hot tub! Very family friendly and great amenities, and super close some great spots/relatively close to Yosemite village. Can’t wait to stay again soon.
Staying inside the park at Ellie’s property was a total game-changer for our trip; being past the gates already saved us hours of waiting in line each morning, giving us so much more time to actually explore Yosemite. The setting is the perfect balance of convenience and seclusion—it’s just off the main road but feels completely private, surrounded by nothing but forest and quiet. Definitely follow Ellie’s detailed directions closely, as they were a lifesaver for finding this hidden gem! The house itself felt like a true home immediately—sparkling clean, beautifully decorated, and featuring a kitchen with everything we needed to cook great meals. After long days of hiking, coming back to soak in the hot tub and collapse into the incredibly comfy beds was the best way to end the day. We couldn’t have asked for a better home base!
We honestly didn’t want to leave :( From the moment we arrived, it felt like we had stepped into our own private forest retreat! Surrounded by towering trees and complete quiet, it was one of those rare places that makes you immediately slow down and breathe. It somehow manages to feel deeply peaceful and special while still being incredibly comfortable and thoughtfully designed.Staying inside Yosemite National Park completely changed the experience. No waiting in entrance lines, no stress about parking, no rushing the day. We could head into the Valley early, explore at our own pace, and truly soak in the beauty of the park without feeling overwhelmed! It gave us back so much time and energy, and that alone made the stay priceless. After long, exhausting days of hiking, coming back felt like a reward. The cabin was immaculate, beautifully renovated, and warm in a way that made it feel like home. Cooking in the fully stocked kitchen, sinking into the comfy beds, and ending the night in the hot tub under the stars are memories we’ll never forget. Every detail felt intentional, and it was clear the hosts genuinely care. They were responsive, kind, and made everything effortless. This is easily one of the most special places we’ve ever stayed. Yosemite is incredible on its own, but this home elevated the entire trip. We’re already dreaming about coming back! Thank you Ellie and Drew!

the perfect forest escape – truly our home away from home!
our stay at this wildernest cabin was everything we hoped for and more. the setting was just the peace were looking for — secluded and private, tucked right into the woods. and from the moment we arrived, it was clear how much heart and intention went into the space. it has that rare, perfect balance of being beautifully designed while still feeling incredibly cozy and lived-in—it truly felt like our home away from home in the middle of the forest.
we found the space functional and well stocked with everything we could possibly need and so many 'extras' that made life easier—from the kids' games and the sound machine for a good night's sleep to the cozy robes and various coffee options for a slow mountain morning. the kitchen is also fully loaded with every appliance you could want, and between the indoor setup and the grill, preparing family meals was fun and an absolute breeze. after long, active, adventurous days, the bidet, spa-like showers, hot tub, and exceptionally comfortable beds were such treats and exactly the recharge we needed!
what made our trip even more special was ellie. she is a phenomenal host! all of her communication leading up to our stay was so helpful that we arrived feeling completely prepared with zero surprises. during our stay, she was thoughtful about checking in to see if we needed anything or if our experience was meeting our expectations. any minor thing that came up felt like a non-issue because ellie was so quick to respond, fair, accommodating, and just a natural problem-solver. she communicates very clearly too. it’s crystal clear that ellie and drew are detail oriented and genuinely care about their guests having a great experience. they have thought of the many details so that you don’t have to and we appreciated this so much as traveling with two little ones can be chaotic! highly recommend for anyone wanting a private forest escape! we ourselves can’t wait to bring our family back to this little slice of heaven!

Absolutely Magical
We absolutely loved our stay! This cabin was the perfect home base for our family while exploring Yosemite. It strikes the perfect balance between luxury and the beauty of the surrounding wilderness, making it feel both cozy and special.
The home was spotless, beautifully renovated, and had everything we needed. After long days of hiking and exploring the park, relaxing in the hot tub was the perfect way to unwind. One of our favorite features was the creek right by the property—it was so peaceful, and our family loved being able to swim and enjoy the water.
We made so many wonderful memories here and truly didn't want to leave. We will definitely be back and would highly recommend this cabin to anyone looking for an unforgettable Yosemite getaway!
House was amazing! Well appointed, everything we needed. Very clean. We were there Memorial Day weekend so being inside the park was a game changer. Picked up all our groceries at Vons and the kitchen and grill were perfect. You’re very close to a small grocery and gas station so if you forget anything you’re covered.

About the host
Hosted by Ellie & Drew Camba
We’re Ellie and Drew from Los Angeles, parents of three who love escaping the city to reconnect in nature. After getting married in Sequoia National Park, the wilderness has always been our place to recharge and find balance. Hosting at The Wildernest Yosemite allows us to share that same peace and sense of wonder with others who love adventure, design, and quiet moments in nature.
Why they chose this property
We fell in love with Yosemite years ago, and when this cabin in Wawona became available, we knew it was meant to be our home away from home. Wawona is one of the few residential areas inside Yosemite National Park, surrounded by forest and close to landmarks like the Mariposa Grove of Giant Sequoias and Yosemite Valley. It’s peaceful, filled with wildlife and fresh pine air—an incredible place to unplug and feel immersed in nature.
What makes this property unique
The Wildernest Yosemite is one of only a handful of private residences still remaining inside Yosemite National Park, and even rarer for its complete privacy. Our cabin sits on land bordered entirely by the National Park Service, with no direct neighbors, so you’ll experience true quiet and seclusion. Fully renovated in 2025, it blends modern luxury with wilderness surroundings—offering high-end comfort, design, and calm in the heart of Yosemite.
