Beautiful pool and great location
The location of the house is great. You can walk to many different restaurants and it is right on the beach. The estuary trip is also great and well worth the money. You will see many birds, monkeys and crocodiles. The house can get hot due to no air conditioning, so be sure to have the fans ready to go. The house was nice and rustic as indicated in the description.
Great family vacay
We met some friends here for the week and enjoyed it! Between our two families we had 7 kids all under the age 11. This was the perfect spot. Pool was lovely and the beach quiet with plenty of crabs, sand dollars, and shells. We rented boogie boards and next time will get surf boards as well. We had Isolda cook for us every night and can not recommend that enough. Very delicious....her casado was our favorite meal! Isolda and her family were so attentive to cleaning the property. My husband is fluent in Spanish and that did help as Isolda does not speak much English. We enjoyed a walk to Tamarindo and recommend some fun shopping there. I would have given 5 stars if the beds were a bit more comfortable. But the location makes up for it. We were all so exhausted by the end of the day.
We loved our stay at Casa de Madera. It was a perfect location. On the beach and away from the tourist area of Tamarindo. The house had no warm/hot water, but from what I had heard, most homes do not have hot water. This house has tons of screen that let the fresh air in. Along with using the room fans, the house did not come with air conditioning and did not need it. The refrigerator worked well but was small for a large family. We used the stand alone freezer and kept moving our items in and out so they would not freeze. There were not any beach towels, so pack your own. There were beach chairs to use. We did not rent a car because we walked to the restaurants within Palm Beach Estates and Tamarindo. We also had scheduled tours that picked us up directly. However, next time, we will rent a car, as the swell moved north and the surf was walled out for a few days. We saw plenty of wildlife from the house and beach, including monkeys. The caretakers made sure the pool was clean and locked us in at night to keep us safe. We would consider staying here again on our next visit.
I, along with three buddies stayed here recently for four nights. While it does not have AC (you're on the beach, why are you worried about AC?), the temperatures at night cooled it down perfectly for sleeping and there were plenty of nice fans in the house to help out. There is an openness to the home but it just gives it that much more of a get-away feel. The caretakers were excellent, cleaning the pool multiple times throughout the day, which was a task since it was rather windy at times. They were also and very friendly. It was incredible being able to walk through the little desert-like area with cacti and other plants on the other side of the pool to get to the beach. Waking up to sun and falling asleep to the crashing waves was incredibly relaxing. The kitchen had everything you need for cooking meals. We never tried the outdoor grill and really wish we would have! We did see monkeys going through the tops of the trees the first night there but not after that and a few lizards here and there. I stayed in contact with Marco and he will be with you every step of the way from setting up activities and recommendations if you like or out of your hair completely, it's up to you. Overall, I would highly recommend this place to anyone who would like to be able to walk out to the beach from the backyard or cool off in the rather large pool. It's a great getaway!
Spectacular spot on the beach.
The house is rustic but spacious and a great place for a large number of people who want to stay together. And who should be indoors anyay? There are waves to catch and monkeys to spot! The kitchen is adequately supplied for cooking but no condiments (which was to be expected) however, the restaurants nearby have delicious choices and are easy to get to. The pool was kept meticulously clean by Sergio and his wife was helpful with our questions. This place would rock for a bunch of surf nuts who would be outdoors in the sand and sun by day and want to hang by the pool by night!
Family getaway fun!
Everything was awesome, from Izolda cooking for 8 of us for a very small price, to fun surf just a short walk out the backdoor. Sunsets were picture postcard perfect and we had easy access to a small store right around the corner. I highly recommend a stay here and plan on staying there in the near future to look for property.
