This large home and detached guest house, which sleep a total of 8-10, are nestled in the woods above Nicholson Lake between the town of Crested Butte and Mount Crested Butte Ski Area. The property offers spectacular mountain views in all directions, with immediate access to trails for snowshoeing and cross-country skiing, plus close proximity to downhill skiing or the town of Crested Butte, with its charming shops, pubs and restaurants.

The main house has five bedrooms and 4 full bathrooms. There are 2 extra beds and a half bathroom. It offers a large dining room, breakfast nook and wonderful living/gathering space. The lower level bedrooms offer a second living room with surround sound TV/DVD. Especially for children and infants are a fully equipped main house toy/game room, two “pack-'n-play” cribs, a trundle bed, two high chairs and two changing tables. The guest house is designed for those who'd like a private getaway, with its own bedroom with queen bed, private bath and efficiency kitchen.

For summertime guests, there is an outdoor mini-playground and camp-style marshmallow-roasting pit, as well as a great seasonal screened room adjacent to the dining room. For winter guests, snow removal service is provided, and there is a one-car garage. There is always ample driveway parking, regardless of the season ... a feature not often found with in-town and on-the-mountain rentals.

House at Crested Butte

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed the house at Crested Butte. Perfect for a family of 8 with 2 small children. Wonderful view

and close access to downtown and the National Forrest. Enjoyed the facilities for cooking breakfast and

dinner. Campfire areas were fun as well. Thanks!!!!

Nice getaway

  • 5 of 5

The hot tub and sauna were a nice way to relax after a day of cross country skiing. Nice views. Beautiful house. The location is remote but not too hard to get to, giving a nice secluded feel. Or kids also really enjoyed the big playroom and bunk room on the ground floor.

Beautiful CB getaway

  • 5 of 5

We stayed over New Year's Eve last year - the house is huge, beautiful, well stocked, and only 5-10 minutes from town. It's perfect for a large group. You can socialize in the kitchen, breakfast nook, living room, or den and retreat to your own room for down time. We highly recommend this property!

Great rental for families or couples

  • 5 of 5

Great snowshoeing and cross-country skiing out your front door, a beautiful view from the hot tub, a large dining room to share meals, sledding right along the side of the house.....we had a great stay at this home.

I love this house!

  • 5 of 5

I've stayed at this house both in winter and summer and have thoroughly enjoyed both experiences. This well-appointed house is warm and cozy with plenty of natural light in winter. After a few hours cross-country skiing through the valley (which you can access just at the end of the street) the sauna and hot tub feel terrific. It's light and breezy in the summer with several patios, stunning views, and is steps to a gorgeous meadow and river. This is a good house for multi-family visits because there are several bedroom areas on different levels, which allow for plenty of privacy. The lower-level three-bedroom grouping with adjoining family room is perfect for young children or a large family. It's a short drive to the town and the mountain, so you definitely need a car to stay here, but parking is ample.

wow- unbelievable access! And privacy so close to town.

  • 5 of 5

We stayed here last Christmas and the access to the surrounding public land was unparalleled. It was hard to believe we were only 10 minutes from town because we felt like we were in our own private forest. I loved Cross country skiing out the road many days (I could even link up to the groomed skate ski track that comes out from town), and other days I could tour the local backcountry ridges that are so easily gained from here. To wake up and see Mt Crested Butte in the morning helped me feel very close to the ski hill and yet so far away from city life. I was recommended to get an AWD vehicle but my front WD car did fine when it didn't snow a foot overnight. It had ample indoor space to spread out and socialize or to retreat to when I wanted. I will definitely take my family back here soon.

This delightfully-picturesque and historic old mining town has reinvented itself into one of our country's most unique destination resort towns ... regardless of the season. At all times of the year, you'll find something for everyone to enjoy.

The mountains in winter offer every type of outdoor activity you can imagine: great downhill skiing, beautiful nordic and snowshoe trails, horse-drawn sleigh rides through town, even ice-skating on a beautiful, lighted outdoor rink. There is no more perfect family getaway than a Christmas in Crested Butte, with the family all gathered around a roaring fire, inside or out.

Come summer and you can choose from spectacular and challenging mountain hiking and biking, horseback riding, golf, white-water raft trips, or art walks with an opportunity to meet a variety of local artists. Our Wildflower Festival and Fourth of July parade are so popular that it's important to book early, as rentals fill up fast.

Autumn in Crested Butte has been a well-kept secret until recently. The town is quieter and the fall colors are breathtaking. Don't miss September's Vinatok Festival or our fantastic film festival. Our Farmers' Market offers a range of delicious local foods several months of the year. If you like photography, bring your camera, as the possibilities are endless. And plan to spend some time outdoors at night just enjoying the brilliant night sky and stars.

And of course, no matter when you visit, the restaurants and shopping are fabulous. Don't miss our rum distillery and be sure to sample some of Colorado's outstanding beer and wine in one of our many historic pubs and restaurants along Elk Avenue. You'll find our friendly hospitality calling you back again and again.
