This cozy log cabin has all the comforts of home. Queen size bed and a sleeper sofa. Plenty of extra quilts in winter. There is also a dock with river access. Very private yet minutes from town and the highway.
**WINTER The river is frozen and we have plenty of fresh snow for skiing and snowshoeing. The trails have a great base and are minutes away. Bring your snow mobiles and your fat bikes, best groomed trails in the area!!
We purchased this lovely four acre river front property to have a place for our children to play. We all ride and the trails are minutes away. Whether it's dirt biking, ATV, or snowmobiling you can get to anywhere in the UP from our place. The boating is great and there is great fishing and hunting in the area. We Love it here.
UPRED purchased this cabin in 2013
I absolutely loved this little cabin. It didn't smell bad at all, it was super cozy. Not even a trace of mice. Super hot water and lots of pressure. Shower stall was completely fine. It was super warm during the winter stay, at below zero it was cranking to 80 degrees when first arrived. There was one small issue with the heater, but Shelly was super awesome at helping remedy it. She was great on the phone and the entire experience was amazing. There is a little tv with some dvd's, but spent most of the time outside snowshoeing and even saw two moose!! Kitchen is great with pretty much everything someone would need for most meals. Overall, absolutely loved this little cabin and will be back for sure.
We spent a few days here in the fall, to check out the colors and do some biking and it was awesome. The cabin was clean and cozy. The kitchen had everything we needed for meals. Extra blankets and pillow. The shower was a little small, but there was plenty of hot water and towels. The water access is across the way and there are some steps to get to it, but we were able to tie up our kayaks in a grassy area next to the boat house. The care taker Dave was there working on the main house and was very helpful.Told us if we needed anything he would be around. Asked us if he could access the crawl space when we were gone riding, which wasn't a problem. Said there was a mouse complaint, but we didn't see any and we saw no signs of mice? He showed us how to turn on the gas heater. ( we just used the space heater provided, it wasn't cold enough for the gas) Other than that it was very private. The trails are very close. (access just up the road in the little town of Republic) There are miles of beautiful trails up there. We are already planning a trip back in the winter to snow bike. Dave tells us the trails are groomed in the winter.
I should've read the reviews, and I'm glad you are. Simply, move on, find something else. Still reading? Where do I begin? Mice. Big ones. We played hawk sounds on our iPad in hopes of scaring the little buggers off. A kitchen sink that is just there for decoration. Yup, not even hooked up. They thought it looked cute. Inside doesn't quite look like the pics anymore. So much potential. 100 year old, one room cabin. Could be great, but they won't invest that in it, apparently. Had to fight for a (25%) refund, and to get my damage deposit back. Oh yeah, and you'll love this one- hefty cleaning fee, plus a "service charge." Shower curtain constantly falls down. Real heater probably doesn't work, so they have a space heater. 1 roll of toilet paper, so bring your own! Bring dish soap, too. Not really sure where their "lake access" is. Just not good. Positives- neighbors are very friendly! Quaint setting. Fun locals. Great antique store in town.
This cabin is cute and cozy for two for a weekend. The owners are very responsive - When we weren't able to get the heat on (we were the first to turn it on for the year), the owners had someone out to assist within the hour.
Be prepared for rustic. The kitchen sink wasn't working and there was an odd smell in the cabin that hit us every time we walked in that I can best describe as old broccoli. This was different than a musty cabin - It was a strong smell that was jarring every time we entered the cabin. (Once inside for a few minutes, we got used to it.)
This cabin is fine for if you plan to drop your stuff and explore, which is what we did.
Shelly (owner/renter) was wonderful! She responded to emails quickly & thoroughly answered any & all questions we had. The cabin & area was just what we expected- cute, quiet, rustic. It met all of our needs & satisfaction. We look forward to staying here again when we make it up to the UP!
This is a simple and slightly outdated cabin, but clean and adequate if you don't plan on spending a lot of time indoors. The area is quiet and remote, so good for hiking and kayaking. There is river access through another cabin's backyard, so bring your kayak if you have one. The interior of the cabin doesn't quite look like in the photos, and the shower is basically a hose attached to the wall. There is no WiFi or cable. The kitchen sink is out of order. Again, this cabin is good if you spend your time outdoors and appreciate a rustic feel.
