About Sally Fine
Sally bought this cottage with 2 friends who helped her renovate it. The cottage was the home of 'Uncle Jeffie', a local fisherman. His sister still lives next door and helps out with caretaking. The cottage had many little rooms but it was renovated to open the space and allow the beautiful Bahama light and breezes pass through. Sally lives in Boston, Massachusetts.
Sally Fine purchased this Cottage in 2009
Why Sally Fine chose Spanish Wells
Sally came to visit the island to celebrate New Year's 2009. On her next trip, she found Uncle Jeffie's cottage and saw a dream come true in this traditional stone cottage. Joe and Piera visited the island in 2008 on a sailing trip. Sally, Joe and Piera decided to buy the cottage together and make themselves a winter retreat.
What makes this Cottage unique
This is a unique open plan with a huge deck to allow lots of outside living, eating, sunning, and entertaining. The top floor is one big master bedroom with it's own bath and private deck. 24,000 BTU split air conditioner added March 2015. The cottage is close to the harbor (you could tie up your boat to the seawall), a short walk to the beach, in the middle of this friendly island.

The cottage was very pretty and comfortable. Everything was as described.
From the beginning of our rental, communication with Sally was spot on. She is quick to respond and provided answers to all if our questions. Her house is really lovely and, while not on the beach, has the most gorgeous ocean views. One can watch the sunrise from the master bed.
The kitchen is well stocked with utensils and all appliances work well. The tap water is brackish. We used it for cooking savory dishes but coffee definitely requires bottled water.
The living space was very comfortable and the dining area, spacious enough for six. The up and downstairs porches were a treat.
Water pressure can be low but was never problematic.
The beds were comfy.
Sally is a gracious host. She reserved a golf cart (buggy) for us and left us the most amazing bread and Johnny cakes.
We had an incredibly relaxing time at Sally's cottage and, not only recommend it, hope to have the opportunity to return.
Our family had a wonderful stay in Spanish Wells
Charming, comfortable cottage in the heart of Spanish Wells!
Our family of four had a lovely, relaxing stay on this special little island. Sally was very easy to book with and attentive to any questions that arose. The cottage was a relaxing place to start and end our days. The kitchen was well stocked, the bedroom a/c fantastically cold for sleeping, and there were lots of thoughtful touches and details that made the cottage comfortable. It's also in a great location. We walked to Budda's and Wrecker's for great meals, I ran down to the beach every morning and Food Fair was close by. Thanks for everything!
Thanks for your review. I am so glad you had a great time. It is a special place. It is very nice, indeed, that an interior designer found my place to be "charming" and "comfortable"!
I hope to have you return next year!
The Kids and I had a GREAT time in Spanish Wells. The house was Great. I'll rent from Miss Fines the next time I go back there. She worked with my schedule to make my time with my kids Great. Thanks to her, we came home happy.
I'm so glad everything worked out for you and that you and your kids enjoyed your stay. I guess it was worth the wait!

We just left and had a great vacation . The cottage was spotless and very close to the beach and fishing piers . The owner Sally was so helpful about all the details and her caretaker in front was the nicest woman ever . Restaurants were varied and we loved the Sandbar. My husband walked to the piers and fished every night til dark and always caught fish .
Yes, Farrie, my caretaker is a gem. She is the sister of the previous owner of my house, better known at Uncle Jeffie. Now what exactly were you catching off the pier at night. I have not tried fishing at night but clearly it is worth the effort! Thanks for your review!
Great location, above expectations!
Beautiful views from the upstairs. Clean inside and out with great amenities. Could not have asked for a better deal in Spanish Wells. Satellite smart TV, internet, air conditioning, all relatively new. A nice porch with a grill and covered seating overlooking the creek. The owner contacted me to make sure I knew how to get to the house a few days before my arrival. The neighbor (family) made sure we had hot water and gas for the stove the day we arrived and was available if we needed anything.
Thanks Joe! I am pleased to hear your appreciation of the cottage. I'm not sure what you expected but am so glad it was "above expectations". You know the island so you already knew how special this place is! I hope to hear from you when you plan a return visit.
Spanish Wells is a community that was founded in the 1600's by the Eleutheran Explorers and loyalists to the Crown. Today it is a vibrant fishing village with a strong sense of community.
